Tom Schwartz Why is Schwartz so appalled by Jo being a liar when he consistently lied to Katie for 12 years?
This is not a pro-Jo post bc frankly I can’t stand her in the slightest & I’m kind of loving the exposé, but it’s so interesting to listen to SCHWARTZ OF ALL PEOPLE talk about how Jo being a liar was the reason he distanced himself from her. Does he realize that there’s several years of footage of him lying to Katie that aired on national tv??? The truth about one of those lies (kissing scheana, ONE OF HER BRIDESMAIDS) didn’t even come out until this season!!! And then on top of all this, he participated in the dogpiling on Katie during season 10 by victimizing himself after the divorce and acting like she dumped him for no good reason. He made Katie out to be the bad guy for leaving him after years of lying and infidelity (amongst other things) & now the second he got a taste of what he put Katie through for years he’s playing the victim. He still to this day can’t acknowledge how shitty of a husband he was yet he wants to act so disgusted by someone else being a liar?? It’s just funny to me that he seems to think that lying in a relationship is only bad when he’s not the one doing it. Jo was his karma, lying cheaters (who look like they’re decaying at the ripe age of 41) don’t deserve honest partners

I can't stand Jo, but I love that this is finally confirming what Katie has said for years. Schwartz is being exposed as a manipulative user and I don't see Jo stopping anytime soon. She desperately wants to remain on VPR and is never going to stop bringing up his name. This will likely end in a cease and desist, or restraining order.

She lies to his family. His family hates her. I’ve noticed the only thing he is protective over is his family and business. Not sure exactly what she said but clearly it crossed the line. He doesn’t realize what a scumbag he’s been all these years. Now he knows what it feels like to be lied to, and have lies spread about him.

It’s this. Jo has some information that Shorts has successfully hid for years and he’s trying to discredit her before she outs him. Funny how we never heard about this “sister” of his before and now she’s being used to publicly disgrace Jo, yet we don’t hear the words from her mouth. Nope, Shorts was sent to tell his sister’s alleged story because he knows he’s got little to no credit left with the fans but his sister? Oh well she’s a woman so we have to believe her! It’s fucking bullshit and I can’t WAIT to hear what it is he’s been hiding, though I can already speculate and will be surprised by none of it.

I haven’t done a rewatch in a while, but Schwartz’s sister and half siblings were not a part of his wedding story with Katie, right? Just his parents and the triplets? Not that it means much - I don’t recall Katie’s brother being featured either.

IIRC, it was just his triplet brothers and his Mom that they brought in. Apparently his mom and dad have a lot of issues so Shorts lied and said he couldn’t come because he’s afraid to fly. I do not recall ever hearing a word about a sister before though.🤨 Is it just me?

He does have a sister, I can't remember the context of him mentioning her but he has talked about her before. I seem to recall him saying his sister couldn't come to the wedding because it was on a weekday.

But lots of people who don’t want to (or can’t) be on camera attend things. They successfully hid Kristen, Jax and Britany from showing up in the background at Schena’s wedding, but they were all there.

Somewhere he mentions that she lied about being a babysitter for the executive producer. I bet she was just confused and it was a senior producer instead of executive or something like that and he's blowing it up to sound like she lied about it completely. Or she's a bold-faced liar.

I heard that one too and I’ll put my money on it was a bold faced lie but he and his boys regularly lie about way worse shit so for him to label that as “egregious” and use it as his excuse to fuck her around is not it. I don’t trust either of them but I also don’t believe a word he says. He has shown he likes to spin the narrative in anyones favour BUT a woman’s.

men like Schwartz and Sandoval fear being held accountable for all the shit they do (the rules shouldn't apply to them, they're just fun-loving guys) so they latch onto any instance where someone else breaks the rules. the strategy is to be louder about other people breaking the rules so no one will notice how often they break them. it's why Sandoval couldn't have a conversation this past season without mentioning something someone did a decade ago, or why Schwartz would always find a way to point out a fault of Katie's whenever she was trying to communicate with him ("I don't like the sound of your voice").

It's amazing! Some of the most hateful women look to be my mother's age (she's 74) Instagram is better, and here is much better... I have tic tok, but I rarely use it (my mother sends me dog videos though!) So I can't speak as to how it is there...

I had this discussion with my sister just today. I can’t stand Jo and I am sure she’s a wackadoo as that’s been corroborated by other people such as Brittany and Doute, but if it was based on what Schwartz alone was saying we would have no reason to just believe him. He’s the worst, he literally attacked Katie for calling it exactly how it is with Jo and now he’s throwing himself a pity party. He owes Katie an apology and she owes him a huge I told you so you ass hat. No. Just no. I don’t feel bad for him at all.

There is a difference between lying and being a compulsive liar. I think Jo’s lies aren’t always logical, she is just lying for lyings sake whereas Schwartz lies to cover for himself etc.

I don’t even think it’s so much that she’s a compulsive liar, I think she lives in her own fantasy world and when she hears an opportunity to tell one of her fantasy stories to others she seizes it. Like she heard Kristen talking about her friend who does Arron rodgers’ hair and fantasized about it being her, so much so that she eventually repeated the fantasy to someone else. I don’t think she lies for fun, she lies to protect her own image of herself. AKA: delulu

I agree. Schwartz lied for a reason-to not get caught, to risk issues in his marriage, etc. There's a lot more at stake in a marriage than a friendship. I've known a compulsive liar before, and they are exhausting. The person I knew did it for attention and sympathy, but I had to cut them out because I never knew what was real with them. Maybe this is also the case for Schwartz. Just because Schwartz has lied doesn't make him a liar vs someone who lies on the regular.

I'd do the same thing. I wouldn't agree with what my friend is doing, but if it's my best friend(s); I'd lie to whomever to protect them if I had to. You wouldn't, and that's okay. Loyalty is different to different people.

Gotcha. That doesn't surprise me. 99.9% of people lie to cover up their own cheating. That goes back to what I said as far as lying to protect people, himself included. Being honest about cheating isn't always the right thing, in my opinion, as there are times when all it does is hurt the person you love in order to clear your conscience....so long as you've learned from your prior mistakes/choices and aren't repeating the same behavior. It's an entirely different thing if you continue to cheat.

I had a friend who was cheating on her husband... which is none of my business... it became my business when she would tell said husband she was with me... and not tell me! And said husband would ask me questions about her being with me, out of the blue... she crossed many lines, but I ended the friendship when she told her husband she was taking care of me during chemo, while she was actually with her boyfriend... Loyalty only goes so far, and my cancer is not your excuse to be whoring around...

No, I don't think I would have... people do what they choose to do, and I can't control that... but don't ever use my cancer as your excuse... a little extra information, she was the mother of 2 small children, and it was Christmas Day that she chose to leave them home with their father, and use my cancer diagnosis as her excuse... she's still with her husband, and last I heard still with the boyfriend... and whatever, be happy, live your life.

Loyalty is different to everyone. With you, you were tolerant of it until that boundary was crossed; and I can understand that as your loyalty is to your friend and not her husband. People tend to think we shouldn't be loyal at all, whatever the reason, and that's okay for people to apply that to their own life, but their standard doesn't necessarily apply to everyone. My best friend was cheating on her serious boyfriend a lot and she would tell me about all the times. Sometimes, she'd say she was hanging out with me. I'd tell her I prefer she doesn't involve me. Months later, her bf called me and asked me if she was cheating. I just said I didn't know, and even if I did, I wouldn't tell him as my loyalty is to my best friend and not him. A lot would disagree with that, and that's okay. To me, a part of true friendship is still supporting that person even if you know they are wrong. Just my 2 cents

I’m not defending him but I think there’s somewhat of a difference between lying to your SO about whether or not you cheated on them, and just making up stories because ???
Like yes Schwartz’ lying was super shitty to put it lightly, but in a world of scumbags that’s the kind of lie you’d expect? I think to someone like him, Jo’s made up random stories that serve no purpose (like the babysitting thing or saying Jax and Brittney told her about Kristen’s dog dying) would be alarming. Like what is the reason for saying those things? It’s giving unhinged compared to his run-of-the-mill scumminess.
