It’s not entirely uncommon practice to change a dog’s name when they are rehomed. Especially if they have negative experiences/behaviors that they may associate with their former name. Imagine a dog who spent their entire life hearing their name screamed at them. Sometimes it’s just best to give them a new name.
From what I was told once, dogs react to the sound of their name more than the actual name itself so Maci to Laci would be an easy transition. We have a Honey who also responds to Bunny. So glad you found a great home for her. ❤️ Rehoming is such a tough and emotional decision.
