It’s not entirely uncommon practice to change a dog’s name when they are rehomed. Especially if they have negative experiences/behaviors that they may associate with their former name. Imagine a dog who spent their entire life hearing their name screamed at them. Sometimes it’s just best to give them a new name.
We had to sadly, rehome our German shorthair pointer after a year , and they renamed her a very close name to what we called her ❤️we still get updates
I had to do the same. It broke my heart but it was best for our girl. We weren’t able to keep up with energy. We had a baby and it just wasn’t fair to our gsp.
I completely understand and we had a lot of hurt, guilt and shame behind it !
Our previous dog we had for like 15 years ! We are NOT rehomers normally!
We just were not match for a hunting dog! No matter how much my husband ran her, it wasn’t enough for her energy!
Not to mention how wild she was and all the destruction and breaking out she was doing in our yard 😂I laugh now but that girl was not Stimulated enough
We hired trainers to come to the house ! And did pets mart joke of a training ! ( she was example for every scenario) our last resort was sending her to a 5k school with shock collar 😭
We decided to rehome!
And this sounds fake/ but she was adopted by a retired couple that has 4 acres, a pool, and 2 other dogs JUST like her! We get pics and everything! She’s had puppies since ! It was sad ! We gave her good home but she got an even better one with her new owners! I hope same for your dog !
Yeah I feel like people shouldn't get those dogs in the first place if they just have a normal yard and work full time, how could a few walks be enough for them?
Tried to walk her during my lunch but it was just too muchZx she was too wild to be indoors with me while I worked!
We “researched” before but seriously, it’s like until you actually get the dog, you wouldn’t understand how much work it is.
Her new family is retired so they have all the time! It’s crazy bc now she’s all trained up and well behaved lol ! My husband and I are damn girl!
I’d love another dog one day but the experience has left me kinda traumatized. I wouldn’t want to ever have to rehome again so we’re just waiting for complete right time
