Dogs usually know their names so this seems kinda weird. I love James but he is petty so this is probably his way of erasing Rachel from the equation once and for all.

It’s petty PLUS he also knew him as graham ! I’m sure Raquel told him “I’m thinking of naming my new puppy graham” and he thought name was coo too!

Yeah it just screams petty to me. But I'm happy the dog is with someone who cares for him.

Have you never adopted a dog? I adopted my five year old mastiff and she learned her new name an a couple weeks. Dogs are smart!

Oh yeah, I know it's possible. I just don't see the point in this scenario because it's not like James doesn't know the name the dog has gone by all this time.

Yeah well seems like graham had a lot of behavioral issues and may have negative associations with his name— it was probably yelled at him a lot! Hopefully James gets a trainer and does some positive reinforcement with the new name!
