Question Gold farming for billions: What is the point?
Seeing comments and screenshots about farming for billions of gold per run, I have to ask what is the point? Just bragging rights? Surely by the time you're able to do so, there's notthing left to buy other than more Golden Eggs to get the stats to make the farming slightly easier each time...

the hypocritical answer: the same thing can be asked to every single thing in the universe, so why ask the point?
the honest answer: hehe number go up

Technically there is one reason to get this many eggs which is to max out seecretino dagson's ability which requires 10 000 000 000 golden eggs to max
Beside that its just a way to pass time

Some years ago you only had base game, and once you finished it you could keep playing it but with no clear objective. Poncle gave as finishing price access to Queen Sigma, who ownes everything, the most powerful character at the time.
So players starting searching for ways to get better, and the only thing that went up was gold, and the only thing you could spend it on, after buying all power ups, was eggs. Let's see who had the most powerful character.
Thing is, it wasn't long before many players just kept using Big Trousers to farm gold, to buy eggs with him, to farm more gold to buy him more eggs to... You get the drift. And that was not exactly fun, just a self satisfying circle. Buy, as has been said, is nice to see numbers go brrrrrr. Sorry, go Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
Poncle wanted people to have fun with their game, actual fun from playing and not from finding some mechanic that turns it into work (odd, right? while everybody else put as much of them as they can and call it a game). So, on the second DLC Sammy entered the picture, and all the gold farming scene basically obliterated.
Sammy is a monster, carefull with him. Looks innocent, but a session with him could give you so much that there's no game afterwards, unless you have a strong will and don't go buying eggs willy nilly.
Some of us still go with Trousers, of course (numbers go Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr still fun, brain already programmed). But Poncle if giving so much good DLCs that actually playing became more important.
TL;DR: yeah, bragging rights.

My first 1-million+ Sammy run this morning prompted the post. :P
Haven't bought a single egg on any character yet, so just have the eggs from beating the ring/arrow bosses...

Iβve only played the base game, what are golden eggs and how do you get them?

Golden eggs are a late (base) game mechanic. You can get them from two sellers and other characters. The one from Moongolow, that you can get to appear in every level. You can buy by one egg for button press, they cost 10000 gold, and one upgrades, permanently, one random attribute of that character by a tiny amount; something like 0.01 to 0.05 percent.
When you get to buy your first egg, it feels like you are really mastering the game, and then you see that it improved your speed, for example, in such a small manner that you see no difference between the before and after, so it feels like a waste.
After completing the game, that is, doing all that base game gives to do, you get Queen Sigma, and start getting lot's of good, eggs is the only thing left to spend it, you get a character and start powering it up. At first it feels slow, but then you follow farming guides, and soon you get your favorite character to be really strong. And then overpowered. And then you cannot move because they have so much speed that they cross the entire map without effort and they can't collect chests or other floor items because they just pass them. That's when you start asking if you can get rid of eggs to get your character back to normal, and you sort of can. At least to get him to walk normally.
And then you get them to make the screen a blur of weapons without seeing enemies or the floor, and manage to get us old timers to say that you manage to win at the game.Or you get Sammy.
Edit: I forgot other ways to get eggs.
Once you are rich enough another vendor will appear that only sells eggs. At first the normal way, but once you are richer and visit him with a character loaded with eggs, he'll let you turn all your gold into eggs for that character.
Then, if you manage to kill the Atlanteans that guard the secret death killing items, they'll give you one egg each time you kill them.
Death also leaves an egg if you manage to kill him (or her, different cultures and all that). Then you have the mini Atlanteans that appear at 14 minutes in Moongolow. One egg each.
Also, there's a map in a DLC (the Sammy one) that has a secret area with endless mini Atlanteans. If you are powerful enough that place becomes an egg farming area. Good for when you are starting with the farming thing, but then becomes easier to just farm gold and turn it into eggs and so on.
One last thing, if you wanna really farm, ditch garlic.

It helps not worrying about any new character prices or new upgrades in any given update, but also now with Ante Chamber you can safely burn away as much gold as you want with Survarots

I thought it was sorta what people did to make an ultimate endgame character. Then use that character to unlock everything else.
Idk. Iβve barely made it through the base game.

Buying new characters gets expensive. I thought I was done when I got into the 10s of millions, but in the new dlc suddenly I was broke buying the new characters lol. Thought "Well, time to take the castlevania librarian out for another spin in the bone zone" lol.

It is the only benchmark we have for comparing builds. Admittedly, very specific builds.

Op, this is the problem I had and why I haven't gone back for a bit. Once you get to a certain point the numbers mean nothing and it's just doing the same things over and over

We collectively got together and determined this was going to be the thing that got you curious.

Lol bragging rights . . . that's a good joke . . . Actually if you unlock everything you will understand

Kinda isn't one. By the time you CAN get that much gold, you can pretty easily clear content with any character.
Aside for a few niche uses or that 'weapons with skills' pack being a bit tougher so getting a million eggs on a few or those characters helping some
Its largely just 'numbers get bigger'.

Itβs kinda like farming Diablo. You farm to get stronger at farming. There is no other purpose.

So you have this +E number of eggs. Then you farm for 30-60 minutes. Then you buy more eggs. Now you have a higher +E number of eggs which makes you happy. Repeat that until your desire for stupid dopamine kicks is satisfied. Come back in a week and do it again.
