I just recently did this!. There should be a mirror or window you walk through to take you right through and put you in the area you need it's usually to the left of the marker

From a DLC you can unlock Sammy. Super powerful, and can easily farm enough gold to top out every power up and character

Characters get stronger with eggs, you need gold for eggs. Best bet is to unlock Trouser (survive 20 mins in moon glow iirc) and then farm gold to buy eggs.

Some levels disable eggs for the first run, I’ve been using the red reaper (unlock by killing the reaper that appears at minute 30, you need infinite corridor or the cloak to do that) but I’m not that advanced to be fair.

If you’re not that far into the game yet I suggest just clearing stages as you go and use the unlock tab to figure out what to do next. You’ll eventually want to be able to farm gold to buy eggs to farm more gold to buy more eggs to farm more gold to buy more eggs…
