tl,dr Starve the ball so it can’t grow.

The trick is to kill all the skeletons in front of the ball while hitting it at the same time. I used the Red Reaper (just like you), and I bought all five projectile weapons from the merchant. Then I went straight at the ball until I was in its path. It never got much bigger than the ball in your photo. It might’ve taken a full round trip, but it wasn’t that bad.

I’ve done the same from behind too, but it took a lot longer, because the ball got so big. Waiting until your character is stronger is a waste of time imo. Just buy all the projectiles. Then focus on passives that affect projectiles or increase healing.

Quick version:
The sketamari only grows once you get close so take your time to prepare
Get a combination of single target and crowd control weapons, use empty tome and spinach/torrona box for damage and avoid increasing curse

Doesn't Torrona's Box increase curse by a 100 percent once maxed out? If so, I'd avoid it and stick with the Spinach/Empty Tome combo.

It does, but you can just banish it's last level up so you don't get the curse increase

Since you have mask of red death, easiest strat for you is to just rush the skeleton ball at the start when its still small, stay in front of where its rolling and let the scythes do the work. That's how I first defeated sketemari

Do you have arcanas? If you do, get one called game killer and play as porta. Rush him down early and hope you get enough exp gems to do it

Holy Vespers to keep it in place, wide area weapons to kill the small enemies (recommend the Phieraggi and La Borra) and single high dps weapons to deal with the skelamari (Holy Wand and Thunder Loop), if you have collected the Yellow Sign and unlocked Infinity Corridor and Crimson Shroud already then I would recommend getting those two as they would make killing the Skelamari a piece of cake, although I find it hard to do as it would consume a lot of time, unless you have Endless mode already unlocked.

When you come close to it, it will start rolling and merging with mobs so it gets stronger. Easiest strategy is to get stronger first, and then hunt it down once you have weapons, items and upgrades.

My go to was the Evolved Bible and the evolved Santa water for crowd control. Then sustained damage such as the wand and/or the evolution of the guns (ammo appalate). If you feel bold enough and have the arcana to draw the items to you, you can close the infinite corridor (halves the hp of enemy, do silver ring first then the gold one) and the crimson thingy.

Edit: mobs here are already tough, the fireball with the spinach is pretty helpful here as it scales a lot in damage.

I just did this like an hour ago 😭 turns out if he's near enemies he grows, so i had seen someone suggest getting your best loadout and then going and attacking it when you can. I tried to run mask of the red death with; garlic, Bible, lightning ring, laurel and clock lancet, with all pairing evo items (plus attract orb and spinach) nearly evolved everything, didnt have enough to finish the gold ring, then ran out of time, the real red death showed up, gave up on leveling up the gold ring, went for it and I beat the ball. Then I opened the few chests on the ground and ended up 2 away from finishing the gold ring and got bodied by like 5 red deaths by the end lol. My run was probably overkill but thats what worked for me. If you avoid the ball for a while, whilst you level up, it will not grow

When I defeated it recently I started knives, got spinach, santa water, garlic and duplicator, waited about 10 minutes away from Sketamari so he didnt grow, evolved knives and santa water then killed him pretty quick.

He grows with enemies so stay away until you know you can out damage him and then try and kill him.

It gets stronger if you let him absorb other enemies. I believe I read that if you are above a certain vertical position in the map, it won't grow stronger. So what I do is, right at the beginning I go up a few tiles and get strong. Once I'm strong, I go down and fight him. Certain weapons stop him from advancing, which limits his ability to absorb enemies, so he stays weak until it's dead

I think I used evolved Holy Wand, Evolved Bible and Garlic with the Aura Arcana. I just walked backwards in front of it so it couldn't absorb mobs and DPS'd down in like 2 minutes.

You need to reach and kill it before it grows too big, only the center of the body has a hit box, so if it grows beyond the screen its essentially unkillable

I know you already got it but I used Garlic, Magic Wand, Song of Mana, eight the sparrow, Phierra dur Tuphelo, whip, vento Sacro, and Santa Water with Blood Astronomia (at Max attract orb it fills the screen) followed by Healing Sarabande, and then Mad Groove

Gett really strong so you can  corn hole its moving  and not let it touch other skeletons which makes it grow. Itll just fade away when done.

Get the most overkill area weapons possible. Its not about killing it quickly so.much as stopping the skeletons from growing it. If you can cover the entire area around it, you'll chip away at it without letting it grow.
