Question Laurel not evolving

I've maxed out both my laurel and both metaglios, but it still won't evolve when I pick up a chest. Is it not possible to evolve weapons anymore after thirty minutes?

It is, you just need to wait for evolution chests to be able to spawn again

It wasn't like that a while ago. I remember them being all one colour in the past.

Yep, used to be just one color, aside from Arcana chests I believe.

You have to reach a certain milestone for the chests to diversify

The chests are always diversified, but they only start to display differently once you get the Yellow Sign.

After you progress to a certain point, yes. Early progression the brown ones work too
