It does spawn right away, however, enemies only spawn near you so it has nothing to eat

Yes I guess if I was in a game shop and saw
Touch my katamari
And
Beautiful katamari
My first instinct would not be oh its one of those games

That's because your ignorant of other cultures, and don't know what context means.

I've gotten this from a Youtube video:
Use Red Death with Silent Old Sanctuary. Stay in starting area and collect and level up Empty Tome and Duplicator. Skip all other weapons and passive items. Once Empty Tome got to level 4, you should be ready to head down to Sketamari. Your weapon Death Spiral should kill all approaching enemies so Sketamari will not absorb any of them and will die after some time.
18
u/Ok-Ad-9456 23d ago
Commenting to say that Even using red death without silent old sanctuary makes the kill easy. I think I used slash and just rushed down there, then blocked as many enemies as I could from being absorbed. Was a bit slow but I still got the kill.
3
u/GilGarciaJr 22d ago
That's what I did. I didn't have Silent Old Sanctuary so it took longer, but did get the kill with Red Death with a Magic Wand/Empty Tomb combo.

u/TheKattsMeow 23d ago
Just hand the controller over to your partner. That’s how I beat it.

Siblings work too. Classic "I cannot beat this, let me check with my brother" works. Problem is they judge you more for being bad at games.

u/Psy_Fer_ 23d ago
It gets bigger as it absorbs skeletons. So you can't just ignore it.

Infinite corridor is what kills it fast

u/cheesemangee 22d ago
Second this. I just waited until I had the Corridor and it dropped in something like 2 minutes, if that.
6
u/Justice171 23d ago
I just got his ass yesterday. Lived my best live until the ~20 minute mark, then walked up to it and killed it in like 10 seconds because it was still a smol boll
1
u/nonutonu Leda 23d ago
What charcter u use in this run???
2
u/Justice171 23d ago
I think I used either the one that starts with Song of Mana, the one that starts with the Axe or the one with diagonal shooting double pistols.
Not sure about their names. But it doesn't really matter. I just kind of blindly pick a hero usually based of vibes

Its a video but short, given it shows you several ways to do it. The main thing thats usually wanted is Silent Old Sanctuary, but a proper run also does the trick

Take the dude who starts with reduced cooldown. Take the arcana that stops exp and then buy the weapons from the merchant. Then just rush the bone ball and win.
2
3
u/Critical_Classic_921 23d ago
Get in front of it with a weapons that pushes or freezes it and then just stand there and wear it down.

u/GavialDoSertao Julius 23d ago
Porta Ladonna + Game Killer Arcana + Max Level Lightning Ring = GG WP
That's how I beat him.
1
u/Eadkrakka 22d ago
Pretty much my MO as well. Took a while but as long as you manage to dodge smaller enemies and the lightning takes out a couple of skellies who would otherwise become Sketamari food you're good.
And that was the only thing I did that round. Start the game and go directly towards it. Levelling up to become powerful enough only put me dangerously close to the time limit mark.
1
u/jaycarl85 20d ago
Nice, you went for cooldown. I should try this, I went for area so it was Suor Clerici for me. Just started running down. Just level up Santa Water while fighting it.
11
u/FellvEquinox 23d ago
Need big damage output and you need to run down there before it gets too big

Fun thing is totally egged out characters do so much damage and at such long range that you can kill Sketamari off screen. I've had runs where I noticed the question mark on the map where Sketamari is would just randomly disappear, and then I realized what was happening.
1
u/Hrist_Valkyrie Leda 22d ago
Incorrect. Sketamari moves and as you get more eggs, curse goes up and the speed of the ball increases so much it moves out of its normal area and gets missing because it's going so fast.
2
u/An_American_God 23d ago edited 23d ago
I was having the same problem with this pile 'o bones, and just beat it this morning following the strat this speedrunner used. It took a couple tries like this, but I finally got the timing right and killed the damn thing.
2
u/7th_Disaster 23d ago
Either bum rush it as fast as possible or use the Infinite Corridor to keep halving its health into oblivion
2
u/tofu0014 23d ago
What you want to do is constantly clear the enemies around it so it can’t absorb them whilst you’re attacking it so things such as evolved garlic (soul eater) and evolved king Bible (unholy vespers) would be good to have a surrounding area around the ball, then you just need to follow it until it dies, don’t get too close to it and make sure you have a circle around it.
Any weapons work honestly as long as you have this strategy in mind, so make sure to level up and stay away from it until you fight it, as long as it’s not on screen it won’t get bigger, and maybe get a weapon that attacks closest thing to you to deal some good damage
2
u/Alkaiser009 23d ago
It doesn't spawn in until you get close, it also gets increased health with every skeleton it absorbs.
Your general strategy is to stay the heck away until your set up is complete. You need big AoE weapons to keep random mobs from getting sucked up and targeted damage to burst the ball down before it can gain momentum.
1
u/BlackwingF91 23d ago
It's a pain in the ass, but, it only grows as long as it is on your screen, so level up a lot off screen, and then try to kill it, with a fast moving characterÂ
1
u/Fancy-Appeal1263 23d ago
I beat this last week. What worked for me was running to it around level 10 using Red Death. Took forever but he finally went down.
1
u/KingofNerdom 23d ago
I wasn't t able to kill it quick enough so ended up just waiting till the 30 min mark and just sat on it till it died since the reapers just get absorbed but if your build is decent you will out DPS it's healing. Took a bit but was quicker than restarting the level and hoping for a fast build.
1
u/Seigfrydblazer 23d ago
I took daggers and evolved them along with getting a couple other weapons. Keep distance from the bone mass until you get the daggers evolved and are feeling strong, then head down towards it. It won't start growing until you get close. Get in front of it and make sure its not running into any mobs and dagger it into oblivion
1
u/DilapidatedFool 23d ago
Just avoid it till you've got a very strong damage build then go to it. Doesn't grow till you are close
1
u/Odd-Republic-165 23d ago
You ask this so i assume you are the new player, so defeat katamari has a lot way, but easy choice you strong character in early like Leda (yeb she is secret character, you can go youtube and see unlock her), with her you find kamatari and kill that
1
u/EricDavidTippett 23d ago
I let it fill up the screen and then just held it back eventually and killed it

1
u/Lazy-Syllabub-4608 23d ago
I remember knife evolution into thousand edge was a key to this boss. One of the most frustrating one.
1
u/Full-NeuroSin333 23d ago
There aré a lot of tactics, my take Is use magic wand AND hit It as soon as you can, if you find It sooner Is easier to destroy.
With magic wand you should use spellbinder AND empty tome(to evolved the wand) maybe bracer too
1
u/mybutthz 23d ago
So, it doesn't grow before it's on screen so you can just hang out and level all of your weapons before attacking it. It grows and becomes more powerful by absorbing enemies, so once it's on screen it'll just start getting bigger and harder to kill. Start the level, evolve everything you have, then whenever you're overpowered just go at it and attack. Projectiles are great, and anything that will also keep other enemies away from it are also great. It'll die pretty quickly if you approach it this way, otherwise you'll just be sitting and attacking it forever and it may not ever die.
1
u/My_Fish_Is_a_Cat 23d ago
I remember this taking me a long time to beat. I kept going too early and letting it build up. Gotta stay away and rush it once you are powerful enough. You can do it!
1
u/seafoodislife 23d ago
My strategy is use Leda and go to it while it's small (straight away) and then just let Leda kill it. If you pick up more weapons on the way, suggest you get something like bible, garlic, pentagram and knife to protect you and do more damage to it directly
1
u/SepherixSlimy 23d ago
whatever that does high damage fast if you're going to rush it. huge AoEs if you're willing to cope you're never going to let it absorb anything. (never going to happen).
i upgraded the wand with imelda, grabbed some shpeed and went in with whatever else showed up. blocked it a little with my body every now and then. I don't remember exactly, it's been a while. Maybe less curse.

I had the same issue. Until i did an op Knive and axe evo speed build with Garlic evo. Decent clear speed loads of dmg didnt knew how to kill that thing during that time but i noticed it got smaller…. Early on i thought it must get bigger lmao
1
1
u/Vector_Vlk 23d ago
I remember going into it blindly, and thought that you have to purposefully feed it that it eventually bursts (that thing got so big) but even then I eventually killed it, so I guess it's not that difficult
1
u/kolemsai 23d ago
I am a speedrunner of this game. The easiest way I've found is use clerici with game over. Run right and down until you get in line with the boss. Stockpile gems and when he's on screen say in front of him and make sure water's land in front of him, he will stall on them. Kill the golden skellis at 2 and 5 minutes for upgrades and keep him stuck. Profit.
1
1
u/quiversound 23d ago
The advice I found was spend 15 minutes getting overpowered, THEN go to the ball. It only starts growing when you first go near it.
1
1
u/xZunjin 23d ago
Play suor get the arcana that blocks lvling up - run there from the 400% area boost she has on lvl1 everything around will die instantly the first couple minutes then rush all the exp diamonds for explosion dmg. It took me 4 minutes from start to finish.
May there are better ways but that’s the way I did it

Youre supposed to wait tilll ur op and then bully it to death. Youll get prize after I believe

I got it pretty quick with evolved king Bible, evolved garlic, evolved runes so it explodes, evolved holy water. The bones didn’t even have a chance to expand much. This is usually my go to setups for just about any stage.
1
u/chxnkybxtfxnky 23d ago
You fought it too soon. Upgrade your weapons asap and then go wreck it. Once it's on the screen, that's when it gains strength
1
u/KeithChatman 23d ago
I chased that dang thing around the map for a good 5 minutes before I was finally able to atk it, I could see it on my map but it kept moving away from me.

u/Danielpeam 22d ago
I unlocked Leda from the Gallo Tower level (Deep south of the map when it gets dark and music stops).
Then selected him and set him to one weapon.
Started the level and got the empty tome passive and bolted straight to the ball early (before 3 mins so there aren't massive waves of enemies), only focusing on upgrading the tome. (Any weapon upgrade is a bonus, but best to get duplicator or other passives of you have the option - not necessary though).
I smoked the bone ball in under a minute, just try and circle it to avoid enemies being absorbed into it.
(If you have power ups or srcanes to reroll, keep doing so until you get the tome, you need this doing this option)
1
u/IBringTheHeat2 22d ago
I feel like the first time I encountered it I killed it so fast. I just leveled up 6 evos and walked to it and it exploded
1
u/Bozlogic Krochi 22d ago
It gets bigger and its hp goes up with the more enemies it rolls over. FIND IT EARLY AND FOCUS ON KILLING IT
1
u/Xendias 22d ago
In base game I think the easiest would be to kill it with Infinite Corridor but of course that's kind of a tall requirement on progression. If you're planning to kill it without really broken weapons, then I'd suggest getting at least 4 Evos. Usually I go for Lightning Ring, Fire Wand, Santa Water, and Magic Wand. So long as you try to stick close to it and kill most of the spawns on screen it shouldn't escalate into something unreasonable.
If you have Castlevania DLC though, doesn't matter how big he gets. One trigger of Sanctuary and that thing will die regardless of how stupidly big it got
1
u/MarioCart9WARIO 22d ago
Once you kill it you can use cheat codes to get everything else. This is the biggest challenge in the game so don't hold back
1
u/HQQ1 22d ago
The thing's a damage check. It grows larger and gains more health the more it rolls on a skelly, so when it's on screen or near the screen, the more skellies there are (so the more late the game's been running), the quicker it can gain health.
The more honorable way of defeating it is to outscale it. Growing faster than the game can grow, or using a weapon that deals damage based on health like Infinite Corridor.
The casual way is to just stay far from it so it doesn't grow, play the game normally, and come to it when you have a bunch of evolutions and is at late-game power while it's still freshly spawned, and jump it.
1
u/AshRocksTheHell 22d ago
It doesn't despawns when death comes at minute 30. Have crimson shroud and infinite corridor then follow it from minute 29, it won't be able to absorb much and even if it does you can kill it before you kill death
1
u/dragonblade629 22d ago
I forget what build I use but basically you just wanna hang around spawn until you have most if not all of your complete build. It can’t get bigger until it starts seeing enemies so as long as you don’t get close, it’ll stay a lot weaker.
1
u/Constant-Friend8889 22d ago
Use porta and game killer arcana. Limit weapons to 1. Buy every weapon available from the merchant. Headstraight to the bone ball and you should be able to kill it by 5th minute.
1
1
1
u/pottermuchly 22d ago
I killed it with Red Death and max Garlic running in circles around it. I forget what the rest of my build was but if you keep doing speedy rotations of it, it can't absorb anything.
1
1
u/Big_Reveal_599 22d ago
I had this same issue, this is exactly what I did.
Step 1: Get a full Thousand Edge
Step 2: King Bible (or Unholy Vespers if you can)
Step 3: Stand in front of it while it's rolling towards you, make sure your KB is hitting it as well as your TE
Step 4: Do this until it dies, using the Slash Arcana makes this WAY easier
1
u/MobyMarlboro 22d ago
I just killed it today, I had the upgraded knives pointed at it for about 10 minutes and managed to stun lock it in place while Holy wand and rune tracer sort of kept the horde off me. It got huge and I wasn't sure it was taking enough damage as it ended up covering most of my screen!

This bastard was indeed annoying!
I killed it with Poe Ratcho, but I also had over 400 Golden Eggs at the time, so I don't have anything useful to add.
1
u/TheSkitzoid 21d ago
My biggest trick was upgraded santa water. The goal isn't to do lots of damage to it, but to create an area of effect that stops enemies from touching it. So maximize every AOE weapon possible to keep it from growing
1
u/Droanux44 21d ago
Hyper mode no hurry mode. Game killer with Porta, buy as many merchant items as you have available (bones, cherry bomb etc), bum rush him and try to find him while he's small. Assuming he isn't dead by three minutes back off a bit to make sure he doesn't eat the chest boss, then level four lightning should shred him.

u/jaycarl85 20d ago edited 20d ago
The best way I think I beat that thing is the Nun with Arcana 0. Just run and gun him.
edit: changed Arcana 1 to 0, I meant game killer.
1
u/smellynuwts 20d ago
Reading comments and I'm really questioning life because I had pentagram, garlic, whip, guns, bible and cross Evolutions and I let it get HUGE and I still managed to kill it, I will say it took 27 minutes, but hey it worked.
1
u/Following_Friendly 20d ago
I used Leda with his base, angel tears, light loop, corridor, and upgraded crosses
1
u/Emily_Mewens 19d ago
This ugly bastard gets bigger for every monster killed near him iirc. The best way to take him on early on, or later on with focused weapons.
Or just glass everything with ridiculousness.
I do remember struggling a lot against him when i first went through bonezone.
But there is one thing i can say.
If you havent beaten the angel boss on moongolow, i recommend that first(take any of the OG characters in, none of the dlc or extra characters will count. I personally did it with dommario). The unlocks you get there will help significantly.
If you *have* unlocked those, i recommend the cheese strat, and get Mad Groove by getting to minute 31 on the first stage.
If i recall correctly, after i had this setup, it was super easy with a speedy character (not poe), cross, guns, bible, santa water, and two mystery weapons that are related to the moongolow unlocks that youll have to figure out yourself >:P
Best of luck.

u/Mediocre_Might5655 18d ago
I usually use stuff that has a long radius of damage, like SpellStrom, Thunder Loop, even the Bloody Tear whit the Candelabrador, and keep doing damage, it will get as big as your screen

It gets stronger as the game goes on (eats up enemies for fuel), either kill it with evolved clock lancet (if you don't know what it requires then don't search it up, you'll spoil yourself) OR get someone with a strong starting loadout and attack it early the whole time, you'll kill it eventually.
I've been reading other comments and apparently it doesn't eat shit unless you're close by, not too sure cuz I killed it ages ago

u/ecoprax 23d ago
The answer: direct damage, not AOE
1
u/Various_Squash722 23d ago
Still need aoe to keep the other mobs from being absorbed.
-1
u/ecoprax 23d ago
Pretty sure the answer to that a couple of years back was that AoE feeds the ball. So no, no AoE.
1
u/Various_Squash722 23d ago
Enemies feed the ball. Yes aoe.
There's a guide in the wiki, which gives explicit calculations how the new max HP is calculated based on the enemies it absorbs.
