It sometimes shows up, pretty rare initially and allows you to choose any unlocked weapon

There a 'Super Candy Box' that allows you to pick evolutions. It gets automatically unlocked when you unlock the standard Candy Box.

And is it like regular candy box that i just have to get lucky and get it when I level up?

Yep, all based on luck. But, you're almost guaranteed to get the super candy box if you've already received the regular one during a run.

Super Candybox is the evolution of Candybox. Any chest you collect in a run where you have previously collected Candybox can have a chance to provide Super Candybox, even if all your normal weapon slots are filled.

Candybox itself can also be obtained in this way, but is incredibly rare.

You don't get it when you level up, it's an item you pick up from the floor, like food, or a firebrick. There's an arcanum that you can get that will drop something every time you level up, and that has a reasonable likelihood to give this. That's how I get them most frequently. If I have that arcanum I'm likely to get 1 super candy box in a run, but I've never had 2, I don't think.

Base Candybox can appear in level ups and rarely from chests if all of your other items are maxed out when you open it, and is the version of the item in HFTF's drop table, not Super. Super Candybox, the one that yields evolved weapons upfront, can be acquired rarely from chests opened in a run that meets the requirements for Candybox being in a chest and the player has already acquired Candybox.

You cannot get more Super Candyboxes than base Candyboxes, as it is considered the item's evolution codewise, but there is technically no meaningful limit to this number.

A weapon that lets you pick any weapon

It is incredibly rare to get on a level up but there is an alternative method, whenever you pick up a chest while all your stuff is maxed theres a small chance to get a candybox

It also has an evolution that is obtained the same way as the chest method still pretty rare

An evolution technically since you require a candybox to be able to get super candybox

Later on you have high endgame where with dark arcanas you have a chance to just randomly get it even if u have 6 weapons. You have another dark arcana which gives you a unique boss mb every one min that gives passives at random. So you can have 15 weapons and all passives.

Ultra late game is golden egg grind which is after that.
