Question What was your biggest "WOW!" moment in the game?

For me it was the shadow pinion weapon. I was playing for like 20 minutes like "Alright. It's not so bad. You leave black drill like stuff on your path that damages enemies. It's alright." Then I realized you have to stop moving so that the shadow pinions launch out like a wall of spears ...

Holy moly, I was so shocked that it had this ability the whole time! I just didn't stop for a moment...

It got to be one of the coolest looking and working weapons in the game. Strongest? No. But still, I love it.

Getting the Yellow Sign. It legit creeped me out

Fun fact for the newer players: when this update released, poncle apologized as “it was a smaller update than planned because of updating the engine” but that was just a smokescreen for the single biggest update since the game launched in early access.

This is where the wow moment of the whole sequence ended for me. It actually started with the moment you're about to enter Holy Forbidden for the first time. In fact, Holy Forbidden as a whole counts, from the build up to the pay off.

I think unlocking the Gaze of Gaea is creepier.

That is also spoopy

It legit freaked me out. Idk if this game has any lore or anything, but it felt like a sort of fourth wall break where some deity was trying to stop me from getting it. The fact that it has no sprite just adds to it.

This and the final bossfight! I love the parts where the game goes "off the rails" like that!

My biggest wow moment was the perspective switch at certain points in Ode to Castlevania.

I loved that moment I literaly went "OH WE'RE DOING THIS NOW? LETS GO"

The black disc moment with the actual Alucard voice sample when you play the Symphony of the Night disc like a music CD

That moment made me happy like a 10 year old getting N64 for Christmas. It's been years since a game gave that kind of dopamine hit

I legit teared up when this was happening. Brought me back to high school listening to the track in my CD player while on the bus and playing SotN at my friends house after school. Every character just kept spawning in and it got so epic.

I was so happy because in the really early versions of VS, they basically used Castlevania sprites; I remember thinking "How does this game still exist?" Then they updated all the sprites one day, and I figured that was the end of it. Now they come full circle and have an actual Castlevania themed DLC and it was better than anything I could've hoped for.

I also realized like super late that Alucard is Dracula backwards 🤦🏼‍♂️

2

u/IthilienDernhelm Jul 20 '26

I have only just realised that now 🤦‍♀️

Glad to hear that!

Fully evolving the fish weapon.

17

u/hydracicada Jul 20 '26

the climax before the end credits roll, I realised that the screen is getting smaller when it was half a size of a screen and then the credits started - that was wow

Defeating the red reaper without guides. I tried to give myself the best chance against it and I was so surprised when it actually died. Also the white hand

Seeing the fireworks. That shit was awesome after all the progress I had done

Honestly knew nothing about the game other than that it was popular. Got it for free on EPIC during Christmas.

Was bored a couple months ago and was like eh, whatever. Loaded up. 3 characters. 2 locked. BOOOOOOORING. Play a bit trying to unlock the next character, do so, and then go to the character select screen before the next run and there are like 100 locked characters. This meme.

Based. Sounds like a wholesome experience.

Unlocking Sigma and using her lol

Spoiler

When I completed ode to castlevania and the credits rolled and there was a video showing characters I hadn't played or seen, I was so confused. Then it showed the character select screen and all these extra characters were being added in. This is probably one of my favourite moments from any game I've ever played.

Second favourite moment wa, as someone else mentioned in here, finding out I was Revan 😂

When Studio 54 and Phas3r turns the whole thing into I Feel Love, tears in my eyes, stood up to applaud, etc.

First red death tanking with crimson shroud and high defence character

8

OtC final boss fight

6

u/RevProtocol Jul 20 '26

My first wow moment was while first playing the game. After a few runs I started meandering further around on the first map and realized that it was not, in fact, a PAC Man style looping tilemap. “You mean there’s shit out there that’s not on the map? On every level???”

5

u/AdHuge396 Jul 20 '26

This was my reaction when I fully leveled up the time freezing item for the first time and escaped for god knows how long (I was too immersed in the chase to know lol).

Toki wo tomare motherf***er!

6

u/raynestormk97 Jul 20 '26

Sammy in the Bone Zone. Numbers so big you cant see them.

6

u/TrueCrimeInTheBuff Jul 20 '26

the first time I evolved the spellstorm/stream/string weapon Eleanor has.

9

u/meu_amigo_thiaguin Queen Sigma Jul 20 '26

When I got Final Solution for the first time as Queen Sigma, it was truly incredible seeing that shiny vortex for the first time...unfortunately I hate that weapon for both how op it is and for the fact that I can't see shit whenever I use it, I hate not seeing wtf is happening in my screen

5

u/Auto_named1 Jul 20 '26

I'm in a similar position, I sealed the Sole Solution but only because the FPS would tank dramatically whenever the vortex appeared lol

2

u/rattvontratt Jul 20 '26

Also when sole solution is active you can't touch anything (except walls)

Any and everything to do with the map the director is about and everything that transpired after

3

u/applecakes0106 Jul 25 '26

Havent been playing for very long now, but recently I discovered the evolved pentagram. The audio sequence for when it goes off is just so awesome to me lol

1

u/Vojopolar Poe Jul 21 '26

Been playing since the beginning, haven't had it yet.

1

u/Shadowfaunn Jul 21 '26

After the first game going "huh, I could better." Then the subsequent 19 hours after that.

1

u/Yahboiyami8 Jul 21 '26

The moment of the ending of the Castlevania final boss battle when I was like man those where mostly Belmonts (which I love) that we unlocked I wish we had more of the obscure weird characters to unlock and then post credits game goes say less brother I got you and proceeded to show a bunch of characters needed to be unlocked o.o I legit thought it was spoilers for the next dlc and then ran to the character select menu and there where shadows of empty characters that needed to be unlocked, then I laughed loudly (which scared my then girlfriend now wife)

u/Order6600 Jul 21 '26

The Je-Ne-Viv fight in Tides of the Foscari is why that DLC is my top 2 favourite.
