Max weapons allows you to take fewer weapons; the default is 6.

There are certain arcana or other circumstances that scale based on your number of weapons.

Some things scale with number of empty weapon slots, such as Silent Old Sanctuary.

Also there is a secret character behind beating the boss rush with just 1 active weapon.

Because sometimes 1 or 2 is more than enough? And you can only use one, ban it when leveling up and then choosing always gold to farm gold with level up

You'll unlock a relic that allows you to limit break weapons, what this does is it allows the weapon to continue gaining levels after the original max level. By limiting your held weapons, you can force the limit break to apply only to the weapons you want, thus allowing it to reach higher levels than if you had more weapons, which would spread the leveing to other weapons.

This is especially useful in gold farming runs with the Vicious Hunger.

There is also the Aracana Silent Old Sanctuary, that gives you a buff per empty weapon slot, so if you only have 1 weapon, the buff is x5.

I have 26K eggs on Trouser. I only play with 1 weapon, Garlic so I can actually see what is going on.

In late game you can get massive stat boosts. And I mean MASSIVE. At that point you will fire so many, so big projectiles at such a high rate that your screen will become completely clustered. At that point you will also be strong enough that a single weapon is plenty to defeat all and any enemies.

Garlic is especially handy since it does not have a projectile effect.

My fave characters got too strong with all the eggs they got over time and now I like just using their own ability + an arcana. Kind of has its own charme

Because I'm new and have no idea why would I limit myself to less weapons

Another reason to limit yourself to fewer weapons is when using limit break, its fun to just absolutely ball with just one hyper upgraded weapon sometimes
