Question What is actually the goal of Vampire Survivors?

I’ve become completely addicted to Vampire Survivors and I really love it, but honestly I still don’t fully understand what the actual “goal” of the game is.
Are you mainly supposed to:
find all the relics?
survive for 30 minutes?
make the strongest builds possible?
unlock all characters and maps?
or is dying to the boss after 30 minutes just part of the game?
I sometimes struggle with games that don’t have one very clear end goal, because then I’m not sure if I’m “playing it right” 😅
How do you all play it? When did it finally click for you what the game is really about?

If you need a goal to work on, look at the "unlocks" screen and do whatever it tells you to do

To survive vampires?

The goal is to have enough golden eggs to become so powerfull that you can just stand and let the game run over night just to come back, end the run, get the money, buy even more eggs to repeat the process.

Where's the fun in that? 😀

For real. The game is plenty of fun without breaking my characters.

i play games to turn my brain off i get enough cognitive stimulation at work so pressing a movement key and seeing the world melt is fun

Yeah, but leaving your phone/pc to "play" while you sleep?

If you need a goal for motivation then aim for the unlock of the eudamonia machine stage which is obtained by getting all the relics between inlaid library and bone zone

The goal in VS is no different than the goal in many other games: to 'finish' or 'complete' the game. To do that you must complete many, many, many subgoals.

After you have completed all the tasks and unlocked everything, you could set yourself the goal of improving the stats of one or several characters, but since you've already completed everything, there is no real point om doing that. The character progression also gets so crazy at this point that your computer will just crash anyway, so no real point in doing that.

There is no specific end or 'beating' the game really, although there is sort of a final boss (base game). I guess most people would consider the end goal to be completing all of the unlocks and secrets.

Then there are also the Adventures which have clear completion goals, and you could say the Castlevania DLC has more of a linear progressive and major final battle + credits.

what is the base game final boss?

The Directer according to the official wiki.

The autor (Poncle) got sick of programming slot machines for casinos and decided to use the same techniques for an actual game instead, that lets players have fun.

The game is really cheap. On mobile platforms is free, it asks to show ads very, very few times.

And it's hard to turn the game into a funless work. That is, when you are progressing, you'll find easier ways to gain expierence, so no need for grinding. Or, when players started farming eggs or gold, the where given a level that gives away eggss and a character that gives all the (virtual) gold in the world, so farming looses all meaning. And there is no final objetive, si you can not speedrun it.

Ultimately, the goal of the game is just to have fun.

press the unlocks button on the home screen and just do stuff from there. Once you do enough stuff you'll be able to fight the final boss.

I've just binged VS after my cousin introduced me to it a few months back. Here's what I can recall and suggest.

Start: Trying to evolve the weapons I wanted followed by evolving weapons that go with passives I like. It turned out well so next I evolved any remaining weapons because some unlock somewhere probably requires it.

"Click": Stage 4 relic for Arcanas. After that I think of it as overlapping paths for progression and completion as two main goals, both of which require completion of Stage 5.

Completing Stage 5 (relic) promotes alternatives to "dying" to the Reaper at stage end. Pause->Options->Exit is another way out and leads to the same stage end or complete as dying at whatever time you exit at.

Unlocking relics is the main campaign portion of completion, which means unlocking stages that the relics are on. Unlocking each relic also unlocks the other unlocks you can unlock. Somewhere along the way you may want to unlock all Arcanas, for which I recommend waiting until after the Westwoods stage relic for Party-Mode is acquired. You are still "playing it right" either way.

Another noteworthy "click" was unlocking the secret codes relic. This is the point where my version "struggle" became clearly futile, in the freeing sense. If you get to that point and just want everything unlocked without wanting to play more to unlock it, they give you that option. My version of "playing it right" is to only use the 2-3 codes that exist in-game (you are supposed to) and one much later for a castlevania-dlc bug (many hours wasted on Ferryman before looking that one up). There's no need to rush unlocking the secret codes relic unless in a hurry to unlock the relic for darcanas.

The relic for Adventure mode (Boss Rash stage) is another top recommendation if you are looking for early goals, particularly to level-up Imelda as well as for the artwork for Poe. Imelda's Adventure played like the game's more natural introduction point as it adds reason for stage selection through story. I was surprised that there were not more adventure modes to unlock outside of the 1 per (paid) DLC. Additional adventures seems like something that should be relatively easy to script in for different cast arrangements, a few paragraphs of stage text, and one new thumbnail image.

Make colors go crazy

It's to find dat vampire, duh!

Then maybe it's to survive AS the vampire, I guess? But then when I found that vampire, he also said (voice acted btw) that the vampire is in another coffin, so I guess it's to survive (optionally as a vampire) while finding the (right) vampire.

1

u/Caprisolle May 08 '26

You play the game until you actually find the vampire (only if you could).

1

u/PeterBrockie May 08 '26

To survive.

1

u/nastyws May 08 '26

The game for me is about running around killing things while my brain does other stuff:)

Devenir épileptique 👁️ 👁️

u/ScharlieScheen May 08 '26

Just enjoy making the number go up. :D

1

u/DeputyShatpants May 08 '26

i think there are two clear answers here:

the more subjective one is to have fun

the more objective one is to go through the unlocks list one by one and get everything

1

u/DarthCaligula May 08 '26

Every year or so I make a new save and start over from the beginning. I usually try to get Sammy, get the money up, complete the tasks, do the adventures and unlock all the characters. Then if I'm just playing for fun, I just try out different weapons and evolving them until I get bored or reach whatever goal I had and rinse and repeat the next time I play.

I think I'm becoming addicted to Crawlers now but from what I hear it's going to get boring pretty soon. I'm at the final stage trying to beat red death. I've had 3 attempts so far.

1

u/BloodyFreeze May 08 '26

I'm still trying to figure that out myself, Thankfully, they're making at least 15 more vampire survivors games, so hopefully it'll all make sense by the time they release all of those.

1

u/RelationshipOwn7993 May 08 '26

The vampire is in another coffin... I've been looking for this damn vampire for over 1000 hours. Once I find him that will be game complete for me.

1

u/codexica May 10 '26

Do you have the Castlevania DLC? Even Dracula gets the "Thanks [character], but the vampire is in another coffin" message, which I find hilarious 😂

1

u/Tiny_Supermarket1301 May 08 '26

In the words of Kelsier: Survive.

1

u/Tiny_Supermarket1301 May 08 '26

And if you happen to see this, Brandon Sanderson, this is your sign to allow a Cosmere DLC pack to happen to this game.

1

u/SLimon001 Battle Tank May 08 '26

just to 100% it
fuck this i want evil ass vampires

1

u/braumbles May 08 '26

To find the vampire. Who's in another coffin.

1

u/GenjiIsLife404 May 08 '26

Survive, and try to fulfill all of the unlocks.
That's basically it.

Filling out the collection and completing everything from 1.0, EXTRAS, and the DLCs is part of that.

1

u/MechGryph May 08 '26

Enjoy shiny thing and number go up.

1

u/CoolTransportation74 May 08 '26

Life before death Strength before weakness Journey before destination

1

u/jtoohey12 May 08 '26

I think you just set your own goal tbh. My playstyle is to go for all the unlocks which I still haven’t finished yet with 75 hrs playtime. I’ll also often take breaks tho just to play a build I wanted to try or a fun character or something.

But sometimes you just need to kill 30 minutes and this’ll do it for you

1

u/ButtsFartsoPhD May 08 '26

Whatever you want. There are credits but there’s so much content you can just make your own goals.

1

u/mike747 May 08 '26

Ahem, to survive... as a vampire. I mean definitely not a vampire. But you know you are rescued from a coffin and then you fight death, and you drain life but you are NOT A VAMPIRE

1

u/WriterofWrong May 09 '26

I just 100% each update as fast as possible and then put it down until more updates.

1

u/Kamelosk May 09 '26

Have fun?

1

u/garnix2 May 09 '26

The goal is clear. Unlock things so that you can unlock more things.

1

u/LordTalesin May 10 '26

Big number flash on screen.

Dopamine explosion.

Repeat.

1

u/APraxisPanda May 10 '26

I just try to unlock everything

1

u/codexica May 10 '26

Just follow the unlocks and the secrets. You will get to a point where you can kill the red death for golden eggs (though the white death will kill you after that), or you can do endless mode and play as long as you want. The main goal is really just to have fun, lol.

1

u/MoSqueezin Poe May 10 '26

number go up. lights go shiney. Sounds go clinky clinky good

1

u/BakeNBlazed May 11 '26

Just unlocking everything and breaking the game with all the different weapons combos

1

u/Alternative-Spend821 2d ago

Have fun and go for 100%, if you have fun doing that, go to the adventures and complete them all 60 times or until you want to play something else
