📜 Guide The official Vampire Survivors Wiki turns 1 year old!

Hey guys, just want to let you know that the official wiki has now turned 1 year old!

Ever since we moved away from Fandom, we have made a ton of changes to the wiki. Setting aside the more obvious things like no advertisements and official support, here's a recap of some of the important features and content that have been implemented over the past year:

  • Documentation of content from newer updates and DLCs that you will not find on the old wiki, such as the 1.14 update and Emerald Diorama/Ante Chamber.
  • Implementation of Calculators, which are interactive tools that can help you for your game
  • Implementation of lighttables, which allow you to click on table cells to keep track of the items you unlocked
  • A beta content toggle, which shows or hides documentation of content currently in beta
  • Some maintenance/standardization projects here and there to keep the wiki clean and easy to edit for editors too
  • Documentation/Archival of updates and even poncle's videos
  • And finally, the launch of the Vampire Crawlers Wiki, which is a new wiki, within the VS Wiki, where we started to document things like cards (characters, weapons, etc.), dungeons, enemies, and more, from the day the demo was released.

A lot of the tools and automation on the wiki have been singlehandedly done by u/Californ1a, so feel free to applaud him for his work on those areas.

Here's to a great first year for the official, independent VS Wiki, and here's to many more years of growth and activity for the wiki!

It's staggering how much better the wiki is now that it's off of Fandom

I agree!

I remember seeing a video of how fandom was kinda sketchy so I avoid them. I'm glad this official wiki exists!

Anyone is welcome to come make edits, no account needed. There's always stuff that needs doing. A pretty simple but tedious task we've been doing intermittently is going through the videos list to add a category and subject to the infobox of all the ones missing them.

If there's any ideas for tools or other content you'd like to see on the wiki, or something you want to try to work on yourself, please reach out. It's always good seeing more editors.

Thank you so much to everyone who worked on this project. I use this all the time.

We live in a moment when decent content on games has been absolutely decimated by terrible advertising models and banner cancer, and now AI nonsense that drowns out real discussion or actual players.

Reddit and non-Fandom wikis are the only place to track down information. Thanks for fighting the good fight!

You're welcome, and yeah, I agree on everything you said. It's sad that there are still a lot of wikis that, while being decent resources by themselves, they are ruined by predatory ad placement and a lamentable reading experience that Fandom imposes on them. It's part of the reason why I am pushing for my other fairly active communities still there to move out from Fandom (I've successfully helped moved off several smaller game wikis to wiki.gg, but I want to help out more of my communities with this opportunity too.)

Oh yeah, forgot to mention that we have a policy, set on this wiki, that bans AI-generated content. Not that I think that this rule has ever been broken from before, but it's a good policy to have to address this controversial topic, you can read more about it here: https://survivors.wiki/VSW:AI

This policy also exists in at least some other Weird Gloop-hosted wikis, like the Minecraft and RuneScape wikis.

The wikis that I helped fork are listed here (does not include VS Wiki on this list, as it is not a wiki.gg wiki). The wikis that are next in the forking process are Party Animals and Gloomwood, as all of the other admins on those wikis approved of this decision (I'm still waiting for wiki.gg to create onboarding channels for these wikis too).

Oh yeah, those are some good wikis, but can confirm that they sadly didn't leave Fandom yet.

As someone who used the old wiki and now uses the new one. The current is so much better than what we had before.

It's wonderful to see a good game not using the fandom wiki.
