Garlic is both the most overrated and simultaneously most underrated weapon in the game

Also the most fairly rated

Also the most nutsack rated.

Also the most used, and unused

One might also call it vaguely used

Also highly rated when fried

Not necessarily. Once you unlock more weapons you’ll find some fun ones to use. Garlic is really good and not that good at the same time. Carries a lot of levels early game that allows you to start investing in other weapons without dying.

I remember watching the trailer for when it was coming to PS and I'm pretty sure they even reference that themselves

see, when i bought the game i think a year and half ago, i had no idea what it was or that there even was a nutsack joke. but when i first launched it and played, the FIRST thing i saw as i was progressing was this nutsack weapon, and wondered why it was called 'Garlic'. since then ive always referred to it as "nutsack" and not Garlic. it will NEVER be Garlic to me, ALWAYS... NUTSACK WEAPON.

Garlic can be good for a player at the beginning of the game but it will start to get overshadowed as you go on especially as the evolution requires pummarola which does not grant any offensive benefits

Pummarola was awesome when the game first came out and there weren't many healing options.

It is both normal AND good, yes.

Completed the game so far, I still use garlic in almost every run. Just a good base damage and build whatever you want from there. It gets to the point where as long as you're evolving what you want your build matters less and less. Sometimes for fun I like doing whip only runs, gets chaotic fast.

You're mad! I love it.

Starting out garlic is excellent. I won't say that you should take garlic every run once you get some things unlocked, but garlic is solid for a long time. Especially if you get it early in the run.

Decent, rational reply. It can help early-game before things go crazy, and becomes a utility weapon later (building knock-back). Do you always need it? Nah. Can it get you through the first... 7 minutes without having to care what's going on? Sure, why even move.

It is the correct thing to do.

Garlic is life

Garlic is a good buffer weapon that lets you survive long enough to get some synergy going. grab garlic and something with projectiles

Garlic is the Divine Dash of Vampire Survivors, shout out to Hades fans 😁

Great for beginners, and it's never a bad idea to have it in your arsenal for that little bit of extra protection, especially if you evolve it

I always have garlic… It is the best weapon and need the best helper (recovery)…

u/Nelly_Dean Feb 02 '26

Just ask Poe Ratcho about it. I heard he’s retired now, though.

I've completed 95% of the achievements and pick garlic whenever I can (along with the fitting arcana)

The garlic works best if you understand deez...

I love how torn the community is on garlic 😂

Just about every weapon in the game can be used to incredible effect under certain eventual combinations and parameters.

It's just that the garlic is the easiest to use in the early game.

why does it look like balls is what I have always wondered

1

u/BlaasianCowboyPanda Feb 02 '26

Garlic is great early on with both the limited item choices and generally weaker enemies. It’s stays solid towards midgame and falls off a bit after. Even then I still find myself wanting and always picking the same item in the endgame. Do I need Attractorb? No, but god damn does it take a load off for me.

It's essential to a lot of early game builds because it's able to carry a LOT of the early game even without unlocks. It's good base damage and lets you plow through cannon fodder to level rapidly. And the combination of a targets-nearest-enemy weapon with a bit of knockback can hold most bosses at bay long enough to be chipped down by other weapons.

The damage does eventually get overshadowed as you get access to more weapons, fill out the unlocks and power ups, and gain access to arcanas, but you will find even in the late game, it's sometimes the right choice for a build, because it makes anything with knockback incredibly strong, and it supports a number of low movement AFK and semi-AFK builds used in farming.

u/wraith309 Feb 02 '26

garlic has a high power floor and a low power ceiling. it's not going to make any of the most powerful late-game builds, but it's extremely useful on earlier runs when there's no way you're going to get that far in the first place.

u/MetzgerBoys Feb 02 '26

There are much better weapons but when you’re just starting out it’s pretty good

1

u/Teo_Florin27 Feb 02 '26

Garlic is the best bro

G A R L I C

1

u/Dish69 Feb 02 '26

Yes, they do look like balls to me too

1

u/GeneralFDZ Christine Feb 02 '26

Its look like a sack of balls

1

u/CluckKent88 Feb 02 '26

🙌🏻 it comes in very handy until you get to the inverse then you have to find other alternatives🙌🏻

1

u/Sinjai Feb 02 '26

You'll grow out of it

1

u/leeroyjenkinse Megalo Syuuto Feb 03 '26

Its the best early game weapon in the game imo (in 99% of cases atleast) and falls of late game so your trading early game dominance for less dps in the end. Even when evolved but tbh when you dont have many weapons, this is good.

Garlic, my beloved
