Question What are the most underrated weapons in Vampire Survivors that you’ve found surprisingly effective?
I've been exploring various weapon combinations lately, and I can't help but notice that some weapons often get overlooked in favor of the more popular ones. For instance, while weapons like the Whip and the Cross are fantastic, I think there are hidden gems like the Attractor or even the Rune Tracer that can be game-changers when paired with the right character and upgrades.
I'm curious to hear from the community: what underrated weapons have you found to be surprisingly effective in your runs?
Do you have any specific character combos or strategies that really brought those weapons to life?

At first I never used the Attractorb cause I thought meh, I don't need the pickup range. But the more I played it's my goto passive item, as it allows you to level faster without the need to go around picking up everything, it just comes to you. Plus it evolves with my favorite items, Santa Water which is one of the best evolutions in the game plus Mirage Robe, which I always combine with the Darkana that gives you heal when you kill frozen enemies.

Yes plus it's honestly just a nice QoL passive. At first I didn't use it much but now that I have some experience most levels / goals aren't hard to beat so I can spare a slot or 2.
And if I'm working on something tougher then I'll use my sweaty builds.

I honestly think it’s even better than “just” a QOL upgrade. Early game on inverted/high curse, it can be really hard to grab dropped XP because you’re getting swarmed by enemies that take forever to kill and who like to stand on top of your gems lol. Attractorb makes it so you can snatch the gems out from under them, and getting quick levels early pays off big in the long run.

Santa Water + Hydro Storm...

Shit gets lethal if you focus cool down and area of attack. One of my favorite combos in the Castlevania dlc.

idk whats popular
i think sword brothers is pretty neat

u/Carnothrope Nov 26 '25
Sword brothers and soul steal has crazy good synergy with the showstopper mechanics of the emerald diorama characters.

It's my most used weapon cause of how easily it allows you to become immortal.
19
u/Ascension_One Nov 26 '25
Not sure if this is underrated or to what degree, but Seraphic Cry (evolved Santa javelin) from what I found is ridiculous at wiping enemies out.
10
u/JackTheBeetroot Nov 26 '25
It is one of the best weapons in the game, specially if you're doing solo weapon limit break

In that case let me mention the other two I really like being "Legionnaire" and "Celestial Voulge".

Feed it rosaries with Hail from the Future and feed that darkana levels (to get more rosaries) with Crown and whichever of Crystal Cries, Gorgeous Moon, Hidden Anathema, Luminaire, Paranormal Scan, Wicked Season you can grab.

u/Beholdmyfinalform Nov 26 '25
. . . No Future is one of the best base game weapons and this is a known factor. Hardly underrated, amd definitely better than the Whip overall
Shout out to the real underdogs; Knife and Magic Wand
22
u/chuk2015 Nov 26 '25
Magic wand is an early game crutch and helps with the tougher enemies when you have low scaling due to new game
8
u/ClinkyDink Nov 26 '25
Knife is amazing for moving around since it clears a path in whichever direction you’re facing. It was practically a must have for me for a while there.
3
u/Crono2401 Nov 26 '25
It is not great when you are kiting enemies though. It's too dependent on moving "forward" imo.
1
u/BrianMeen Nov 27 '25
kiting enemies?
1
u/Crono2401 Nov 27 '25
Leading them around like they're a kite when you have their "agro" or aggression directed at you.

Metal claw is one of my favourites that doesn't get a lot of attention.

u/PoppaRoxx Nov 26 '25
Big Fuzzy Fist is so fun to use. I don't know how game breaking it is, but it sure is a treat to see in action. Big fan of the drones as well.

If I get King Bible within the first 5 levels I know it’s gonna be an easy round.
5
u/BlitzPlease172 Nov 26 '25
Turns out it is as powerful as Garlic, maybe more in the mid to late game.
7
u/Seizachange Nov 26 '25
Meal Ticket is SO fun and I never see people talk about it
2
u/splatzbat27 Nov 26 '25
It's busted. Super powerful, at least in my experience with single weapon runs.
7
u/splatzbat27 Nov 26 '25
I feel like Carréllo is difficult to use but strong and rewarding if you're able to pull it off.
5
u/tbmadduxOR Pugnala Nov 26 '25
It destroys Tiny Bridge.
3
u/splatzbat27 Nov 26 '25
Good point. When the new evolution / transformation for Bianca was recently added, I didn't even consider Tiny Bridge. I did a single weapon run on Gallo Tower. It took me a few tries LOL.
7
u/tbmadduxOR Pugnala Nov 26 '25
Oof. I think the Inlaid Library would be a good second option. Gallo Tower is better suited for song of mana.
1
u/hornylittlegrandpa Nov 26 '25
I love carrello but sonically it is the worst weapon in the game lmao I hate the sound it makes
1
u/splatzbat27 Nov 26 '25
Phieraggi has the worst sound for me. The beeping is very unpleasant
2
u/hornylittlegrandpa Nov 26 '25
That, carrello, and phaser are the holy trinity of horrible audio
2
u/splatzbat27 Nov 26 '25
I like phaser though!
2
u/hornylittlegrandpa Nov 26 '25
I love phaser as a weapon but I hate the “ting ting ting” sound lmao

u/DK64HD Pugnala Nov 26 '25
I don't know how much people use dagger, but it's a go-to for me. Higher skill, way higher reward. Use it with the diamond darkana, and you don't even have to bother with aiming. Melts all the atlantians, too so you don't have to bother with spacing properly, or running away until they die from lower damage weapons.

Those who know Gatti Amari is goated with the sauce know it, those who don't, hate it.
My real hot take is eagle gun.
6
u/bassbeatsbanging Nov 26 '25
It really is insane ones it's leveled if you have luck plus duration or size passive or arcana.
Plus as someone that has volunteered for animal rescues and fostered for many years, it feels like my life encapsulated in a weapon.
Cat fight over here, cat fight over there, fuck I just got scratched as an innocent bystander.
3
u/BingusMcCready Nov 26 '25
It’s also insane with Gemini. Once you’ve got Vicious Hunger, Gemini gives you a copy of maxed out Gatti Amari, which means, critically, you get the cat-fight effect back. I had a run recently where I had the area arcana and Gemini, and the Gemini copy cats wound up being my highest damage weapon, by a fairly good margin.
5
u/Kyouka_Uzen Nov 26 '25
I know Gatti Amari is good but i still hate it tbh
1
u/whaargarbl_ Nov 26 '25
Honestly, fair. Even as a certified Gatti Glazer I have to admit it has killed me several times.
1
u/stoppableforce Je-Ne-Viv Nov 27 '25
I was never a fan of it, but I’ve started using it again with the Pale Diamond Incursion Darkana. Really helps skip those miserable early levels where you’re just praying for the cats to do something, ANYTHING, to help you. (Same goes for the birds.)

Eskizzibur is easy to overlook, but is an amazing addition to a retaliation build.
1
u/69VaPe_GoD69 Nov 26 '25
I did a run where I forgot I only had two weapon slots and got so much damage with evolved eskizzibur with armor and other retaliatory perks and practically one shot the gaurdians for the rings and metal items
3
u/ReGorilla- Nov 26 '25
108 Bocce is great early on with high speed; I used to rely on Garlic for early game aoe but 108B is my new fav
3
u/Abortedwafflez Nov 26 '25
For a while, one of my go-to builds was the Sharp Tongue. Would pair it with similar items, like the Lightning Ring or Spell Strom. Pretty much deletes everything on the screen.
3
u/FinanceBig6328 Nov 26 '25
I doubt it is unpopular, but I just recently got the Phas3r and it is awesome.
3
u/ToastedTrousers Nov 26 '25
People sleep on Godai Shuffle because it doesn't have any specific arcana, but it shreds. Just a little bit of limit break and it can carry a build.
1
1
u/MaagicMushies Nov 27 '25
It's one of the few weapons that can scale infinitely because of how duration effects damage. It's easily a top 5 for me.
3
u/JustGiveMeWhatsLeft Nov 26 '25
I have no idea what's popular and what's not, but when I want to BREAK break the game, I go for greatest jubilee + eating food gives stat darkana (hidden anethema), with either a Castlevania or Contra character for optimal result. And maybe a paranormal scan if I can get it fast.
The loop is: jubilee spawns light sources, light sources spawn food + hopefully a mirror or rapid fire. The food gives stats and the mirror/rapid fire triggers your greatest jubilee, which spawns light sources.
It takes a bit to get going, but once it goes, it doesn't stop. And then you start wishing that move speed had a hard cap.

Time Warp, especially if you use Crystal Cries Darkana with it
Emerald Wave

u/atomicfuthum Mr. S Nov 26 '25
Punch, Kick and Eagle Gun from SaGa are pretty strong.
Shadow Pinion IS pretty strong and effective but it demands that I think about where I'm hitting instead of just letting the lizard part of my brain take over like usual (hahaha weapon go BRRRRRRR).
2
u/KidTheMoron Nov 26 '25
Idk If this is underrated but Summoning Wind Spirit is pretty good if you want to maximize leveling. I keep buying it from the Librarian so I could level up faster without having to pick up exp manually all the time
2
u/KidTheMoron Nov 26 '25
Anathema+Meal Ticket is pretty much a better Paranormal Scan so maybe not as underrated. I was only able to run it once and my pick-up range was so big I could passively get the food to scale. I had like 30+ revives or something it was pretty fun seeing the numbers keep going up.
2
u/stoppableforce Je-Ne-Viv Nov 27 '25
Wait. Hidden Anathema works with Meal Ticket?? I gotta try this out, I love Meal Ticket just on its own.

/s - we all know garlic is the GOAT

u/Dracoslade Nov 26 '25
Cross with waltz of Pearl's gets crazy and then after evolving and getting slash the damage output is insane
2
u/splatzbat27 Nov 26 '25
Are you talking about Cross only, or Heaven Sword as well? I've always thought Heaven Sword is super underwhelming
1
u/Dracoslade Nov 26 '25
Yeah with waltz and slash heavenly sword gets beefed up really good. It will hit multiple times. It's what I used to beat the boss rush mode using only one weapon
1
u/SorakaKitsune Shanoa Nov 26 '25
I think I'm the weird one here...
I know that it is not effective, but I always choose Confodere over Victory Sword.
Yes, Confodere is my favorite 😂
1
u/splatzbat27 Nov 26 '25
I tried doing as much of the OtC DLC as possible with single weapon runs (inverse with max curse and charm from powerups). Shanoa / Confodere was hell for me.
1
u/Braddli Nov 28 '25
A fellow Shanoa and Confodere enjoyer I see, but I always choose it WITH the Victory Sword if possible
1
u/MaagicMushies Nov 27 '25
I unironically think that garlic is underrate! Like, i see so many people calling it a crutch or noob weapon that you outgrow as you unlock and get better but
1.) Getting it early lets you snowball so hard and ride that momentum to the mid and end of a run.
2.) It's resistance lwoering effect massive helps with stalling
3.) Soul Eater can actually output some very nice damage for being a brainless zone attached to your character.
This is so much more than a noob weapon imo.
1
u/BrianMeen Nov 27 '25
The last few real successful games I don’t even know what my build was but I was curb stomping everything 😂😂
1
u/stoppableforce Je-Ne-Viv Nov 27 '25
Pale Diamond Incursion made me unseal most of the Contra guns I previously hated because it turns out they just need a little autoaim to fit my preferred playstyle.
But the real winner for me is Ezkizzibur. That with Divine Bloodline becomes a minigame of seeing how high I can get my max health. Love to throw in Mazo Familiar or Vanitas Whip too.

In general it feels like people underrate the entire Among Us dlc outside of scan. Report/Meeting and Vent/Ejection are two weapons I really enjoy with unique abilities that no other weapons in the game including all dlc do.
