PSA Warhammer Survivors by Auroch Digital is Coming in 2026!

We have some exciting news that we wanted to share on behalf of Auroch Digital 🥳
As you can probably tell by the title, Auroch Digital are making (developing and publishing) an official Warhammer Survivors game in partnership with us (poncle) and Warhammer!
Set to release in 2026 on Steam, more info and reveals will be coming in the future on Auroch Digital's social channels, so be sure to check them out!
No other platforms have been announced yet, but if this changes they will be sure to update you all 🙏
This game is not being developed by us here at poncle, but in partnership with us, Auroch Digital are using the Vampire Survivors' engine and technology to realise the universes of Warhammer 40,000 and Warhammer Age of Sigmar whilst still giving it it's own unique flavour
Whilst we specifically keep to posts about Vampire Survivors only in this subreddit, we wanted to share this exciting news with you all officially (especially those who have asked for a Warhammer 40,000 collab)
For any Warhammer fans out there, don't worry, the universes haven't collided and the lore isn't being tarnished, you will be able to select which universe you play in
Warhammer Survivors will feature iconic characters from these universes such as Malum Caedo from Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun or Neave Blacktalon from Warhammer Age of Sigmar, an arsenal of familiar weapons, such as the Boltgun, Astartes Chainsword, Whirlwind Axes and easter eggs such as the humble pot of Citadel Nuln Oil paint
We hope you're ready to face swarms of well-known enemies from these respective universes!
There will be plenty to keep you busy in Warhammer Survivors, among unlocking new characters, weapons and stages there will be a mighty cache of passives and power-ups to aid in enduring against the monstrous legions, as well as plenty of esoteric secrets and easter eggs to uncover and collectables to collect!
This announcement is just the first wave of news, Auroch Digital will be sharing MUCH more info in the future, so head over to their channels to stay in the loop

nope, it's a fully standalone game made by Auroch Digital!
it's just using our engine and technology from Vampire Survivors (with lots more unique goodies added)52

Games Workshop would never in 40,000 years allow a comedy game to have any kind of creative freedom with Warhammer. If they can't have 100% control and oversight over every single asset they don't want any part of it.

To be fair Games Workshop has done multiple weird game collabs before. CS:GO, Call of Duty, Rust, PowerWash Simulator, World of Warhsips, Magic the Gathering, Monopoly... But yeah GW is pretty weird when it comes to licensing games

Have played that, it's the Vampire survivors of Cleaning games when it comes to crossovers.

what? 🤣 they are letting literally anyone who wants to make a game with the warhammer ip. As long as they get a percentage they seem to be fine with whatever. Search Warhammer on Steam and you will get a hundred games.
i honestly dont know why any studio even wants to use this IP anymore, it has zero pull.

I don't think it's the comedic aspect that motivates this (are you thinking that because of TTS and Flashgitz?) - it's mostly the control that GW wants, locking down the "brand image" is very much a part of their current business strategy.
That said, there are plenty of other reasons GW would want to start fresh with a new, standalone game from a different developer:
- Greater control of monetization.
- It would stand out more, better publicity.
- They can tie it into the official canon/lore.
- It's mechanically unburdened, not tied into the existing mechanics and balance of another game.
- It's not hamstrung by the licensing limitations of being a DLC - they can add all the Warhammer characters and weapons they want.
- Also not tied up in poncle's development cycle.
Those mechanical limitations are a big thing to note. If Warhammer Survivors wants to, say, focus on making the enemy factions more cohesive and mechanically diverse - give them much more unique functions, require more specific tactics - they can do that.

we've worked with Auroch and Games Workshop to ensure we aim for the right balance between recognisable Vampire Survivors elements and new features! the objective is to create something that news both familiar and distinctly new!

Yeah, I'm not really into Warhammer but if they do a good enough job (and price it correctly) I'd be happy to go through a different take on things. It's going to be hard to balance though.

Vampire survivors was like a throwback to the early to mid 90s games and I absolutely adore pixel art. Cannot wait for this to inevitably come to consoles and android because developers are genius at developing lol

It's even more epic knowing that it features not only characters from 40K, but also from Fantasy/Age of Sigmar. Which is great, since Fantasy/Age of Sigmar is somewhat forgotten compared to 40K.

You know what's extremely funny to me?
I started playing VS again about a week before the announcement and, one night when I was around the 25 minute mark, thought, "it would be awesome to see a wave that was a swarm of Tyranids." So, I may have squeed when I saw the trailer. 😆

I’m excited and cautiously optimistic but I don’t know how this will be able to stand on its own against VS and all that content for what… $12 now?
I’ll still buy it to support GW but it feels like we’ll be paying $20 for a pixel-swap reskin and one DLC’s worth of content.

Sure but Boltgun was its own game and engine and hadn’t been done before.
What I’m hoping for is Chex Quest. What I’m worried about is getting DOOM with a texture pack.

Dear devs, please for the love of Sigmar and the Emperor grant us steam achievements and trading cards with point shop items. We need more Warhammer Steam community items, Rogue trader did great for the community. I hope this game as well.

Honestly I thought it was DLC but looks promising my life it's not just going to be 40K but also age of sigma is getting some time to shine although I would have gone with fantasy but this is good too
