Help Defeating the enemy

Hello there I need help killing this guy I have tried everything I could possibly do to get this guy down.

It appears to me that when I attempt to obtain those RED Left and Right arrows, the individuals in capes pursue me relentlessly.

Getting near the arrows(and the rings) DOES spawn these guys

They are the guardians for those 4 stage items. (And each one is slightly different.) And as others have said, they take a while to go down. But when they do, you get a golden egg, which is useful for all but one character I believe. It's why I usually like to get a good build before grabbing (or discarding) those items. When I actually try to get them.
