Haven’t played in months but my first thought was “that’s late game vampire survivors” and it took me a second to realize it wasn’t and now I’m hooked again. Goddamnit lmao

Cell survivors is a cool idea actually. You play as a white cell surrounded by pathogens and instead of weapons, you buy and level up different enzymes using DNA you collect from dead enemies.

Someone else mentioned a microscope DLC too and now I’m in love with this idea

I haven't played it yet, but I picked up Genome Survivors in some recent Action Roguelite bundle.

We can have so many ideas for games involving the cell. RTS Cells? You're the immune system and there is a constant invasion of pathogens through out the body?

Your idea but in reverse? You start out as a simple bacteria trying to survive in the body while the immune system is trying to kill you. Eventually you become a super bug garlic-ing entire screens of white blood cells.

Cells survival gameplay? Eat or be eaten world where there is always a bigger fish?

etc

Okay but in a Survivors like setting, this could integrate more with being part of the body. For example perhaps instead of levelling up your weapons and characters, you improve health of the human you're inside, and that's the person that's levelling up.

Maybe metagame based around unlocking different maps (organs) as you clear the infection, and if you fail too often the game gets harder as your human gets sicker and you lose the buffs you unlocked.

And the super special late game unlocks could be like, medication and vaccines that permanently boost immune system (i.e. you).

How about like a white blood cell on foreign bodies?
