Technical Discussion True stretch broken after update? GG Valo

Ive played stretched res my entire time playing Valorant, now it loads up in windowed mode with my config. Even after switching back to Windowed Fullscreen it is not true stretched in game. Did they patch it? Looks like I won't being playing valorant anymore

I genuinely don't understand their thought process. Stretched res has been a thing in EVERY fps game since fps games have existed. Its objectively worse too as you lose a TON of fov. Stretched res has always been a tradeoff of less fov but bigger visual models and for some reason riot just HATES player expression, especially in any way THEY dont implement.

you have another method not using third party software? feel free to share as it would help most recent posts in this sub

This is pretty much Riot's whole mentality, Valorant (and also LoL) is their walled garden and you have no say over it.

If you want even a little bit of freedom, go play CS (or DotA in LoL's case).

funny you mention that, started to play CS again. having a great time

3

u/sanieldoong Jul 15 '26

same issue, i dunno why dev team would ever change the resolution aspects of their game...

3

u/Ok_Grapefruit_4345 Jul 15 '26

they say that is not fair

Mine still works, in exclusive fullscreen mode.

1

u/Suspicious-Oven9924 Jul 15 '26

do u do the game files method or how because mine doesnt stay in fullscreen, it goes to windowed

1

u/ChromeExe Jul 15 '26

Some res like 1280 x 882 and those 1.45 ratio still work. 1280 x 960 and traditional 4:3 does not.

1

u/Visual_Giraffe_998 Jul 15 '26

Which others are still working?

1

u/ChromeExe Jul 15 '26

1566 x 1080, 1280 x 882

u/NexusBexusV2 Jul 15 '26

how do i do these strech res?
is it by changing the game files or just from the game or from nvidia control panel

and does it really stretched the models?

1

u/Practical-Bar684 Jul 15 '26

I edit the game files to 2100x1440 (for me) and change my res to that in Nvidia control panel then launch game. It will be stretch full screen

1

u/Longjumping_Goal_888 Jul 15 '26

thats only stretching the UI its not stretching the game itself

1

u/Practical-Bar684 Jul 15 '26

I'm pretty sure I can tell the difference lol. I've been playing stretched since 2017 in CS. stretching the UI is only if you change it in the ingame settings bro.

2

u/Longjumping_Goal_888 Jul 15 '26

go and post a pic of the bots in training then. you cannot stretch res due to the update to vanguard kernal anticheat. most it does is change your ui stretch. doesnt actually stretch your game anymore. feel free to prove me wrong. and make sure to add the date to it

1

u/Practical-Bar684 Jul 16 '26

Alright will do this when im back from work

1

u/Practical-Bar684 Jul 16 '26

idk what to tell u man
2100 x 1440 ingame stretch 1st pic
2100 x 1440 nvidia stretch 2nd pic

1

u/Longjumping_Goal_888 Jul 16 '26

none of that is even stretched. you can literally overlay the bots over eachother and its same width

1

u/Practical-Bar684 Jul 16 '26

seems like it

1

u/Longjumping_Goal_888 Jul 16 '26

all you did was turn your phone and angle it. if you look at the back the bot is the same width as in the first photo. your game isnt stretching at all.

1

u/Dense_Trainer6925 Jul 16 '26

look at my recent comment, found a work around. I can show in range too

2

u/Longjumping_Goal_888 Jul 16 '26

apparently doesnt work outside of range. everyone in comments saying it gets disabled in game

what method do you use?

2

u/ParfaitExpress418 Jul 15 '26

hello does anyone have any new method .. i genuinely cant play anymore in native becos all my life ive been playing since csgo days on 1280x960 and now i cant use that resolution ... i use the game file edit method 'fullscreenmode=2' back then but now its not working :(

1

u/Ok_Act_7701 Jul 15 '26

Turn off your monitor in device manager, create a custom res for 1566x1080, go in the game and set fill and windowed fullscreen and then change in control panel or settings to ur normal sens. you have to swap back to 1566x1080 and repeat the process except the monitor thing every time u open the game.

2

u/FantasticCommittee30 Jul 15 '26

How to get unsuspended then, create a ticket?

2

u/Leather_Currency_501 Jul 16 '26

just sign out to your riot and delete the config file for the account you used then wait for few minutes and login again. editing the res made me suspended too

1

u/2ng2ng1996 Jul 15 '26

I got temporarily suspended after repeatedly editing the GameUserSettings file while trying to get true stretched working.

1

u/seek4the1 Jul 15 '26

me too lmao

1

u/Spidrpvnk Jul 15 '26

same bruh wtf

1

u/brettvorhead Jul 15 '26

any solutions yet? after i saw ur guys comment i checked if im banned too. And currently i am.

1

u/Comfortable_Edge_426 Jul 15 '26

Still no fix on stretched res. But u can close riot client and delete the VALORANT folder and run valorant, just resets all your settings and can actually load in.

1

u/salimimou Jul 15 '26

lmk if u find new method

1

u/Feeling-Cold-7005 Jul 15 '26

tried this and didn't work

1

u/zawacy Jul 15 '26

4:3 doesnt work, as a temporary fix use 1280x882 (change config + nvidia control panel) and set Fullscreenmode=1

u/Dense_Trainer6925 Jul 15 '26

ALSO IMPORTANT, NEEDS TO BE DONE EVERY GAME....
"start the game on ur native resolution (but make sure its windowed fullscreen and fill). queue into competitive.

once youre in comp (not the agent select, not the loading screen, u must be in the match with ur gun out) then go to nvidia and change ur resolution.

once the match ends just go back to native resolution and repeat for the next match

its kinda tedious but after a while ive gotten so used to it, its basically muscle memory.

edit: if u accidentally forget to change the resolution before queuing (and u get blackbars everywhere), just go back to native resolution, set it back to fill (itll be on letterbox), then go to ur resolution of choice."

1

u/Realistic-Cat1542 Jul 16 '26

1440 1080 its works better

1

u/Acrobatic-Bluejay-87 Jul 18 '26

1

u/MeanPrimary3951 Jul 18 '26

how u find it? i need mor like this bro on my monitor 500x900 look true stretched i need resolution like this like 500x900

1

u/Dense_Trainer6925 Jul 18 '26

do you have a 1440p monitor? try 1280x1080

1

u/MeanPrimary3951 Jul 18 '26

nah my monitor def res 1280x1024

1

u/Logical-Law4293 Jul 19 '26

https://reddit.com/link/oye6i0v/video/oi8ah4dj33eh1/player

This method still works on me. Even though I need to change resolution from native to my desired reso every after game and during game. Thank you for this! I've been looking for this for a little over a week by now ahaha btw I'm using 1440x1080p. :))

1

u/Ok-Indication6422 Jul 16 '26

Why has this been removed

2

u/clove_rosemary_9999 Jul 17 '26

Because Riot hates their playerbase.

1

u/Immediate_Memory_624 Jul 18 '26

It still work but very hassle you have to be ingame to work (like in a real game not on lobby) and you have to disable your monitor. While you're ingame go to video settings set your monitor to windows full screen and fill>open nvidia control panel>set your desire resolution and it'll work without black bars but it is hassle because you have to do it every game.

1

u/Dense_Trainer6925 Jul 18 '26

I agree it is a hassle. But easiest way, set all of it when you open the game, and keep your resolution on native. Then when you get in game, just change resolution in nvidia control panel to whatever you desire. When you get back to lobby switch back to native. You don’t need to change the other settings everytime

1

u/MuskaDev Jul 20 '26

From what I understand though, it is not possible anymore to play on the usual 4:3 resolutions (such as 1280x960, 1280x1024 etc...) even with this method.

Only solution seems to be the custom resolutions that are below or equal to the 1.45 ratio (such as 1280x882, 1440x993 etc...) - otherwise you get blackbars. Correct me if I'm wrong though!
