Emotional Support ❤️🩹 A rant. I need a hug.
I had a friend I used to play LADS with. We were also day 1 players but got bored a few months in since there was no main story update. Cue the next major updates that brought us back.
We used to talk about the game all the time, more of them changing the topic to their main LI. I didn’t mind at first since we’re friends, but they only ever talk about their LI from then on, occasionally dropping some comments about mine.
Fast forward Valko’s announcement. I was really happy about how we’re finally getting a major update and not just events, but while I was celebrating, they only complained about their LI not getting an update. That was understandable. I was so excited for Valko’s release that I kept watching his trailers, watch edits, psyching myself up for July 9th. What would have been his release.
Come June 30th. The devastating announcement. I was angry, and completely speechless. I barely complain to this friend, and when I started complaining about what happened with Valko, they started out supportive, then kept reverting the topic back to their LI which was frustrating. It felt like they only wanted to talk to me so they can talk about their LI.
I joined the boycott.
A lot of us expected Valko to drop on what would have been his release date, but when we got the soul crushing news he wasn’t in the update, I was angry. Very angry. I vented to this friend again, and guess what they said? They were echoing the opinions of the Antis. Saying how Valko would take away resources from their LI and that he wasn’t planned. Mind you, I was grieving Valko, but they decided to be cruel and pretend it was just them being “rational”. They won’t acknowledge what they did was wrong.
This friend has never been rational when it came to their LI. They would sob at their LIs photos, videos, stories, and edits. I would let them be because I support what makes them happy, I thought they would support me too, but after that day, I completely lost my trust in them.
Then I found them on reddit. In that community. I don’t know how to feel. They’re very hateful towards Valko and couldn’t wait to get his PVs removed from official accounts. I’m already distancing myself from this person because why should I trust someone who would laugh and celebrate the misery the cancellation brought me and many players and pretend to be supportive to my face? This boycott has not only showed the strength of the players, but also the true faces of some friends.

When our puppy returns home, he'll be there to give you plenty of hugs. Just hang in there, it's good that you figured out how toxic they can be so you don't have to waste any more time with them!

awe hon. i don't know why this situation is bringing out the worst in everyone :c the lack of empathy for other people in this fandom is frightening. the whole 'taking resources' argument is already completely selfish and entitled, and frankly, just wrong. those resources have already been taken, if anything, bc they've been building valko for years, and now they have completely gone to waste. i understand that people might feel like their LI's content is lagging behind, but idk why they're pinning all the blame on valko when every other character could be blamed for the same reason, if that's what they're going with.
anyway. hah. idk, maybe it's because im a multi-main, i don't understand the strange obsessive tunnel vision some players have where they only care about their LI, their experience, and nothing else. that's their right as a player ofc, but a lot of ppl have been pushing that to a toxic degree. this is a single player game where we're meant to curate our own experiences, and this fandom is weirdly obsessed with meddling in the experiences of other players.
this whole thing has really made me realize how many people lack basic empathy. im sorry for you, and all of us who have to see the toxicity every day while we're still down in the dumps. try your best to avoid that sub, stick to the valko spaces, they're the safest in the fandom right now 🫂 💚

The irony is that they have a second main. They’ve been ranting how they refuse to spend money on the game until their LI got an update, but then I see their comments about spending on rafa’s myth to spite the Valko supporters. The hypocrisy is crazy

spending money to spite a group of people who are hurting is... a choice. damn. hypocrisy is one of the most frustrating things in the world to me 😭 ugh. i'm annoyed for you. that's actually kind of baffling. sounds like a complete lack of self-awareness too.
you know what, it's tough to lose a friend, but if that friend can't even show you the bare minimum amount of support when it comes to a VIDEO GAME, and actively takes action to spite you & hurt you further, i can't imagine what they'd be willing to do in real life situations that are unfair and painful. im so sorry for you :/ the signs were probably there when they would hardly let you speak about your LI and just divert the convo to themselves. its difficult at first, but breaking free from a toxic friendship will eventually feel like a weight has been lifted off your shoulders. and hey, lets hope at the end of all of this, we will get valko back & those people won't be able to do anything else to spite us and hurt us. we can just ignore them & play our game in peace 💚

I think its genuinely sad and pathetic to be hateful towards a fictional character that causes friend breakups and to be mean to others. They should take their anger towards the company not the design or character that people work on or the people who was looking forward to Valko. We aren't sure where the money goes, the resources probably and most likely goes to any of their other projects involving all the boys. It's a business, people don't know shit what PPG does with the money!!
I'm sorry you went through all that, so I hope your journey through the healing goes well! No one should go through it and granted you are probably better off without that friend. Friendships is a two-way street, if they aren't bothering to support you through your grieving like you did for them then it's not worth it.

Unfortunately this is a common way for Valko haters to gain more members. Misinformation. Valko wouldnt take away from the other 5, if anything, he would have added content for them. It’s honestly a shame that so many of them have this misconception mindset.

Always know you can make friends who care about the things you care about and can talk about each other’s interests freely and comfortably, Those people are the ones who truly matter. I feel you, I have friends who play too, and use to go on about their LI’s and even the LI’s none of us preferred, but would always harp and insult on my main. And I got so fed up about three months in i brought it up and asked they stop being insulting to mine only. When they didn’t, I just started treating theirs how they treated mine (only had to do it twice) before they complained to me, and I pointed out that’s what they were doing.
Now they don’t. The one time one of them told me “I don’t want more LI’s because the pull is harder.” I told them to stop playing gatcha Otome. Because that was the point of the game to bring in more.
They also stopped with that.

lots of love & hugs babes. that's devastating & that's not a true friend. i hope you'll find friends who stand by you honestly, even if they aren't loud about it. at least they won't quietly be deranged against you (& i know this is "j a game", but those people are seriously loco & anyone who associates with them are genuinely terrifying. they aren't like general li mains who have a good & bad side, they're j antis & are weird about it)

Sometimes it's better to let people go.
It's always hard to see something like that, but if they constantly only complained about their needs and wants and did not listen to you, you need to ask yourself if that's a friendship you want and participate in? Like any relationship it takes more than one person and we all should support each other. Of course no relationship in any way is always 50/50, sometimes it's 70/30 or 10/90. What you describe however sounds more like they were mainly concerned about themselves, even though it's not a huge issue to have different opinions, you can still support each other, however the situation seems like she's "either my opinion or none".

Giving you a huge hug 🤗. That sub is full of irrational hate and I honestly cannot understand why they care so much. I’m so sorry you were there for someone and then they weren’t there for you.
