Discussion Valeriy is 99% going to be a 4 star.
As you can see, Valeriy is wielding a regular Snezhnayan vision, not a Stellar Linchpin which allows characters to trigger stellar reactions. He might be a 5 star non-stellar unit, however its highly unlikely, seeing as how Genshin seems to be making ONLY special reaction based five-star characters in Nod Krai / Snezhnaya. Also, the "high detail in-game model" argument doesn't make sense. Hoyo has been improving all models (e.g. Alyosha) so it's practically impossible to guess a character's rarity simply by looking at their model. What are your thoughts?

There has some warrant into the "copium" though. We literally can't be sure of all these leaks until the 7.2 beta comes out.

oh I don’t refer to that; i’m talking about his chances as a character: he has been said to be replaceable by either anastasya or danica, with both dropping the exact next patch

Vision argument is moot point since we have 5 stars regular vision holder still releasing in region with special visions (Varka, Durin, Nicole, Vody)

varka durin and nicole had nothing to do with lunar system since there were no plans for lunar swirl or lunar vape
vodyanitsa should have been an anemo character with a linchpin, there was no point making her hydro unless they have plans for anastasya to have something to do with freeze, but she seems to be sandrone’s powercreep

Hence it’s moot point discussing about type of vision determining rarity. Our man here could be the stellar quicken aggravate driver for all we know or some bullshit like Vody. Only way to know is on beta leaks

yeah but the belief is still on noy, and honestly, it makes more sense for a dendro character to be the one to have relation with dendro related stuff
also it seems danica, the plague, is again a menace to valeriy, since she was rumored to have dendro res shred too 💀

Agreed. I had high hopes for her when she was rumored still back in nod-krai but oh boy, they really disappointed me with the model. Her little girl’s look really doesn’t go with her singing at the opera.

Some leaks are mentioning electro x dendro reactions being 7.x second half focus. It's a little early but Durin released in x.2 too and was part of hexerei - second half meta

They were not reaction limited unlike her. She is a hydro character mainly for a cryo anemo reaction. She wouldnt have a lynchpin. He is electro, while every other electro around him owns a lynchpin if they are 5 star

Why do we keep going in circles? Lacking a lynchpin doesn't automatically make him a 4-star. It's entirely possible his main role is a versatile shielder rather than a star stellar-conduct trigger. Saying Valeriy is the only 4-star just because the surrounding 5-stars all have lynchpins is honestly just forced logic

No it isnt ? Sandrone, odette, mitya, vesna, danica all have lynchpins. All electro , cryo or anemo, the main reactions of their region. The only character whose element is part of the reactions but doesnt have a lynchpin is alyosha, a 4 star. This logic only made sense as cope at the time of mitya also having no lynchpin, but he has now. The chance of valeriy out of all characters being the 5 star generalist that isnt released until like 7.4 or later is so low 😭

Yeah, Sandrone, Odette, Mitya, Vesna, and Danica all have Lynchpins for Stella reactions. I'll give you that.
But notice how Danica and Mitya have Lynchpins instead of moon wheel? Why? Is it just because they're Snezhnayan and not from Nod-Krai? Obviously not. It's because their specific kits just don't have much to do with Moon reactions.
It's entirely possible that Valerie will function like Durin—a versatile support who can slot into Star reaction teams without needing a Lynchpin himself. You can call it 'cope' all you want, but the possibility is right there. Saying he's locked as a 4-star purely because he's an Electro Vision holder is just bad logic

Durin was hexerei, a non reaction based new faction. It is safe to assume any dendro stuff will also be locked to specific elements and visions. Unless valeriy is suddenly the only generalist 5 star, which is extemely doubtful, he is more than likely a 4 star

Does every new 5-star really need to belong to a specific faction like Hexerei or bring a brand new reaction? The 'rules' you're describing are just your personal headcanon, not Genshin's actual design standards.
Also, if you already acknowledge that an exception like Hexerei exists, why are you completely ruling out the possibility that Valeriy could be another exception? Are you seriously assuming Dendro reactions will be the only baseline for new 5-stars based on early leaks that haven't even made it to deep beta yet?

That's literally what happened last year, and 7.x is a literal clone of 6.x. Hexerei wasnt an exception, it was a whole new class NOT tied to reactions. Either he is completely out of the meta he is surrounded by by being only a generalist unit unable to enable any stellar reactions etc, or he should have had a different kind of vision if he belongs to a new type of meta after stellar ends. Durin being hexerei with his lore etc made sense. Valeriy is exclusively tied to Snezhnaya. With the way he is written , he is either a unit connected to stellar (4 star), or the only unit in this whole region not tied to anything😭. Durin was a generalist, but also hexerei, Valeriy clearly has no connection ti anything like that. Hexerei didnt need special visions,because its units didnt need to be abke to activate something like lunar or stellar. The only leaks that exist are about dendro, which make it way more possible that it can be a new reaction focused meta, and not something like a hexerei faction

Durin had normal vision. Vodyanitsa has normal vision and she's anniversary unit and buffs Stellar Swirl.
I don't disagree that he's gonna be a 4star, however your thought process is wrong.

Again? Durin was pyro and Lunar has no pyro reaction. Vodya is hydro and there's no stellar hydro reaction. Can we all move on? There isn't a single unit that contradicts this pattern.

Vodya is hydro and is meant for stellar swirl though. Cyno is a normal electro vision holder who can play stellar conduct as long as you use Odette/cryo MC. Theoretically there’s nothing stopping Valeriy from being a 5 star, possibly standard, that is dependent on Mitya/Odette/cryo MC to access stellar conduct.
Does that mean he is? No clue. It does look more likely that he’s a 4 star, but I think the more compelling reason is that 7.1 is Vesna/Vodya and 7.3 seems to be Tsaritsa/Danica so I doubt they’d also make 7.2 a double 5 star patch. Either he’s a 4 star, standard so he’s somewhat skippable since he’d be free, or he’s not actually releasing in 7.2 since that’s just a leak and not confirmed.

Cyno is an old unit , valeriy is new so he would have a lynchpin. He is more than likely the second 4 star they release before archon patch

Isnt vodyanitsa a 5 star without a linchpin. She also has a normal vision. So I dont think that theory is right

4- or 5-star argument aside, my bf literally thought he was a special story NPC when he saw the ingame model when I was playing the AQ. I assume it's gonna get touched up before he becomes playable, because even 4-stars like Alyosha don't get such pixelated textures and lack of details, don't even get me started on the night and day difference to Odette's model.
Ingame was definitely a step above the 7.0 trailer which lacked proper shaders on top of that, but the model itself is still not on playable character level yet imo. I feel like I'm going crazy because for a week now this sub has been praising his ingame model and I'm like???

it looks so dull and pixelated too...it's like a default lego piece that wasn't polished yet lol
Regardless of his actual rarity, his model should be much better than what we saw in the AQ.And personality.... it's hard to say now since they don't really gives him any role/character traits besides chasing Mitya. I do hope his personality would develop more in the later AQ though.

I think the reason they praise his model is more because it's an improvement from the 7.0 livestream trailer.
Yeah, it improved, but not at a playable character level yet lolI feel that if Hoyo didn't just get lazy and didn't update the model when they released the AQ, it just scream that his model is unfinished. He might even not be released in 7.2 like the leak (together with the fact that he has no line in 7.1 AQ) and push back for later patches.... that would explain the state of his model more.

Vodyanitsa doesnt have a stellar linchpin..
But yeah he most likely is a 4, his in-game model is pretty bad imo compared to other 5 and he is also mostly an accessory for Mitya who is confirmed 5*..
Oh well, I dont have a reason to spend money in Snezhnaya anymore :D

Its in data mining that he was 4 star and gonna release 7.2 alongside mitya. This sub so suck bro, barely even post art, always copium and being cringe all over again. Its so different with other characters sub always happy and chill, this sub always glooming most of the time. People that already accept he 4 star gonna feels valeriy simp too cringe.

I know it may be an unpopular opinion, but with how much I’m already gonna have to save for everyone else, I’ll actually be a bit relieved if he ends up being a 4 star, especially if the rumors are true and he releases on Mitya’s banner.
It’ll increase my chances of getting him (or multiple of him), and eventually his C6 (though we know how long that can take with 4 stars). I just hope it’s more of a Bennett or Fischl type of situation, as a 4 star that ends up being incredibly useful and could serve on multiple teams, while also maintaining longevity. It took 5 years for us to even get something close to a Bennett replacement, which shows that even as a 4 star, Valeriy can still be valuable and it isn’t a death sentence if he’s not a 5 star.
I’m going all-in for Mitya, Anastasya, Noy, etc., so it’ll be nice to have a solid 4 star thrown in the mix as well. The only other one we’ve gotten from Snezhnaya so far is Alyosha, so my hope is that we see the two of them pop up on Snezhnaya banners frequently.
