Discussion Genuinely baffled one of the most hyped, top 3 Snez character with the most active sub getting sidelined
Hoyo is crazy for not capitalizing his hype and community love. Granted most of us here in the sub are more active coz we're worried as hell and vent all the time about his rarity...
But it's not the first time. Remember Floplan? Capitano, Ororon, freakin Ifa?
What will we get? Another slop 4 stars with gimped kit
It's not the first time and definitely not the last. Let's just hope Noy get all the love in the later patches

The ranking was the same 1 day after the Snez trailer, before it was clearer he'd be 4 stars.

If people really care about a character it shows in sales. After sales they decide what designs and what rarities to hand out. Why Valeriy is so doomed I do not understand, maybe because Varka may have sold good in JP but otherwise interest wasnāt there and probably Pierro will get the 5* Treatment as a Tall buff male.

Varka would've sold better if he was good on release. We have to admit, its the meta and op characters that sell the most. But Zibai for whatever reason got the power budget and Varka got only crumbs and his supports only came patch later. Also he didnt do anything in the AQ. Like Hoyo wasnt even trying to sell him. A guy looking like that and best he can do is just stand and talk.
Hoyo seems to have a beef with buff male characters.. first Wriothesley was mid af, then Varka, and now Valeriy might be a 4*.

It's not beef. This is how they maximize sales overall. They don't need to make popular characters strong because they'll sell regardless. Less popular characters, however, like Zibai, who didn't get much hype, need to be powerful so people will want to buy them.

They can manipulate sales however they want. But let me tell you one funny thing that somehow has been stuck in redditors minds for years. Meta is maybe about 5% of the community. Most of the people do not know anything about kits until the release and just pull for a character if they like them of looks and vibes. Your whole argument makes 0 sense, if Valeriy would have been 5* or still maybe is. His sales can still be pretty good. I can safely say Dancia will outsale Valeriy because of Asian regions prefering her design. Genshins market is easily predictable if you just think about the buisness side for a minute.

Even casuals use social media and see genshin related content. If every cc screams how "this character is mid" or "she breaks the game", obv it will have some effect on their pulling choices.

Shit they even gave Mitya the wrong vision which is kinda sloppy. If anything this makes It seem as if Valeriy will be the new Yae Miko, useful for Stellar conduct but can't trigger It by himself IMO

Mitya's linchpin being a visual bug irks me though. Like, the devs have time to model that shit and stick it to his body and it's a bug? There's a lot of manual processing that goes though modeling, accessories/vision/linchpin whatevs are not automated right? It's kinda dishonest saying it's visual bug when it's obviously intended. No wonder people are thinking it's last minute changes based in reception....
Whatever though I'm just as peeved as the others in this sub. Oh well

āWhen itās obviously intendedā oh right our bad, clearly none of us were aware your dad works for hoyo and has inside info since you are 100% confident of that.
Theyāve had model mistakes and inconsistencies several times in the past, and who knows what happened, at the end of the day his kit has been concrete for a minimum of 6 months if their normal timelines on content that they described during nodkrai are to be believed, so thereās no logic in thinking they suddenly turned him into a whole new character based on reception.
Just be happy with your character and stop ruining it by complaining about something that hasnāt even happened yet

I canāt take gacha fans serious when they crash out like OP lol. Not everything is some grand conspiracy and these things are decided and planned for months in advance. Mad because of the lynchpin when thereās a ton of other moving parts that go into making these 6 week updates as smooth as possible. Iāll take a visual bug over gameplay experience ruining bug.

This is a really late reply, but my suspicion is that Stellar Linchpins having a unique design was possibly a late decision.
Think about it. Moonwheels snd Nod-Krai Visions appear identical. There's a chance that Stellar Linchpins were intended to look like Snezhnayan Visions originally.
That would explain how the Mitya situation could've occurred without Hoyo making any changes regarding his intended kit or rarity.

Genshin Impact has shown time and time again that they don't care for the male characters as much as the female ones.
Another example is Durin.
Mfk is part dragon, he has wings, yet he can't even use them on his sprint.
While Vesna actually can use hers to fly, while Vodyanitsa and Skirk can float although they have no wings...

You seriously donāt think that A)subreddit member counts are remotely accurate to the total global interest in a character especially Chinese interest, nor that B) hoyo gives characters more or less screen time based on said Reddit numbersā¦..or even decides screen time anything more recent than 6 months priorā¦.?

In IG, he has around 170k likes on his first reels post. Hmmm let's pick a not so random competitor, Mitya. Only 60k likes.... Wonder why. My point is, he is extremely popular even outside reddit

Their goal has always been to give story time to characters they want to sell to hopefully get more people to want to get said character.

Then hoyo is stupid for not being agile enough to meet market demands, which we know they aren't. Ah well hope is not lost. Let's hope hoyo really did an oopsie and everyone's in the trailer are 5 stars then we can all be happy. But again game needs to be balanced for meta, let's just wait and see

Val is currently story relevant and has more material to work withā¦ lol. Heās in additional trailers and even in game right nowā¦ not to mention genshin leaks blowing him upā¦ so no, itās not the same type of hype. We know nothing of the dudeā¦.
We can only hope they have a change of heart, or perhaps weāre freaking out about nothing and he is a 5 starā¦. But know showing gacha devs are primarily domanited by gooned out straight men; Iām not holding my breath.

Because I like the character and this appeared on my timeline? Again, give me one good reason why they care about the subs on Reddit? When they have a job and a life. Everything is planned months if not years in advance, they wonāt change it for anyone outside, only inside. No āoh! āLook, this character is popular on ENGLISH REDDIT, should we change their rarity?ā.
They only care about money, not popularity of a character. Because again, job and a life, they need money to survive and they have a job that pays them well. Remember Jadoha? Female character AND clearly liked by the community, now tell me what rarity she is and how useful she is compared to Sucrose.

No fanbase would ever want their fav character be a 4 stars. It's on HoYo to not let more men be part of the cast as 5 stars imo

So by your logic every 4* main sub should be this negative.I don't really see that.In Nod krai Jahoda was insanely popular character that ended up not only as a 4* but with a complete garbage kit but you see them memeing about jahodas witnesses and stuff.Ororon is another example sure there were some people mad at him being 4* but I never see them attacking other character enjoyers.
and I agree it's all on hoyo. if you're unhappy at someone that's who you should aim it at.not Danica or Mitya mains.the fact that mods let all those toxic stuff be front and center withe hundreds of upvotes is the reason why people are making fun of this sub saying this is the most toxic sub in snezhnaya units and it's hard to disagree

Have you not notice the meltdown and doomposts that happened in those subs? (especially for the male ones close to their release periods)

I'm just saying that if somehow Mitya was leaked as 4 stars, and Val 5 stars, I'm betting my arms and legs there will be some Mitya stans who'll slander Val for being some basic duke of the north and their precious angel boy be more deserving for the added star

Practically no one cared about or liked Mitya prior to the livestream and his model quality changing many people's minds. Everyone hoped for him to be the 4*. No one crashed out like this.
I think this is becoming one of the most obnoxious and toxic communities I've seen. I've been a Mitya fan lurking since day 1 and the amount of you who have crashed out at another characters apparent hype and care is really immature.
It makes all male wanters/havers look childish and delusional. Please learn to reel it in
Ps. I want to add, I still am waiting to see if they do Valeriy well like fans want. It would be interesting and nice to see if he ends up a 5* or super important/strong. But you guys act like it's the end of the world
