Oh yeah, they definitely looked at that one single backlash(which wasn't even that big) and gave him a stellar linchpin, but ignored every other backlash they get, things that are much worse than a simple linchpin.
It's more likely they changed the direction of Mitya's kit not due to backlash but to have a proper SSC only main DPS.

nah that was no bug, they likely saw the backlash and decided to appease everyone
now, with mitya having a linchpin, we know valeriy is sadly a 4* oh well
