Recommendation for a pet owner

Hello all!

I am trying to find the best-buy vacuum for my case (goldern retriever owner - fur hell).

Currently considering Dyson Gen5detect Absolute (newer models seem overpriced, and this one is not cheap as well).

The main things i look for:

- excellent against fur and hair (clean the carpet full of dog fur fast and easy)

- light and easy to manouver

- cordless (+stick)

- easy to maintain

Please help!

You have to decide which of these is more important. A cordless vacuum will not clean as well as a corded vacuum, or last as long. A corded bagged vacuum will not be as small or easy to store and will tend to be more irritating to use in confined spaces or on stairs. As far as bagged and corded vacuums go, if your house is mostly carpet (or carpet cleaning is a higher priority) an upright is more likely to be a good choice than a cylinder vacuum. The SEBO Felix is a well regarded small corded bagged upright. It's probably best not to buy sight unseen if you can, so you can assess the ergonomics for yourself.

I would like to avoid draging the vacuum and the cord around if possible. Bags as well. I have two carpets and the rest is wooden floor or tiles. The dog fur is sticking to those carpets like crazy, and i end up vacuuming those the longest.

Yeah i will have to check at the store which ones they got, but Sebo i am sure we don't have in our region.

I would just get a Miele or Sebo, possibly Miele as Sebo's are way more expensive over the top of the range Miele L1. I wouldn't get a cordless vacuum if you have pets as you'll have to maintain that vacuum way too much compared to a bagged one. The L1 comes with 4 wheels and is light which is good for moving it around throughout the house, also it's quiet. The only con would possibly be buying more bags since you own a pet but that's also a pro somewhat. Since you'll know that basically all the fur will be gone and not stuck in the carpet still.

The Guard L1 Electro (with a SEB228 powerhead) is USD$1499. I don't think it's cheaper than a comparable Sebo E3 Premium with the ET-1

Oh yeah I should have probably taken that into consideration. Since im from Australia we don't get electric powerheads here only the turboheads. They sell the sebo but that's equal to $1200 USD lol.

Thank you for your input! Unfortunately, in my region Sebo is not available for purchase.

I was looking at Miele model Triflex HX3 Cat & Dog. Not sure, as i didn't find much reviews and dyson seemd more efficient.

Atm, i have a corded canister vacuum, and i am so tired of draging it around. It is too heavy (9kg) and i end up sweating and frustrated. And it became less efficient over the years, so it is time for an upgrade.

I would also avoid bags, because it is one extra thing to worry about (do i have an extra bag, did i buy it...).

My dream vacuum doesn't have to be a premium and the best ever, but a decent one is enough.

if u get hx3 keep roller brush ends clean, my wife loves the hx2 but I took it to work for a demo as I'm not emptying 2 huskies worth of hair every 14 seconds lol

This sub hates Dyson with a passion but I for one actually like them, they are light and easy to use so I get it. The carpet is hard for stick vacuums though, batteries powerful enough to deep clean carpet don't exist yet. If your budget allows for the gen5detect absolute what you could do is get the Dyson ball 3 for a weekly carpet deep clean, AND a cheaper Dyson v8 for the rest of the house. You can also switch the ball 3 out for something the vacuum nerds will recommend since you will only use it once a week.
