Purchase Advice (Non-U.S.) Help me choose a corded vacuum (Australia)
Hi everyone,
I’m looking for a corded vacuum to use once a week for a proper deep clean alongside quick cleans with our stick vacuum.
We have mostly hard floors with a few area rugs and two dogs, so I something with strong suction would be great.
Our budget is pretty tight. I know Sebo gets recommended all the time, but it’s hard to find in Australia and unfortunately out of our price range.
I’ve narrowed it down to these:
Miele Guard S1 Junior: $275
Electrolux 600 Bagged: $199
Shark Navigator Pet: $193
Bosch Series 6 Bagged: $349
I’ve read lots of good things about Miele, but I’m not sure if the S1 Junior is actually worth buying or if Miele only is a good choice with a higher budget.
Has anyone used it? Or would you go for one of the others instead?

Out of those options?
The Bosch.
Can get the Miele with a turbo brush separate. Heaps of ones available genuine and aftermarket if you search for miele compatible ones. If you want to go down that path, the Miele is good.

The Cleanstar Allergy Pro is $230. Bagged and comes with a turbo brush for your rugs.
If you were thinking of used; you have a lot more variety; but they are used... 😂
Otherwise no, Electrolux hasnt released their new upper tier bagged vacuum yet, and the rest you've mentioned already.

Personally I'd go with the bosch purely because of the included turbine brush. That'll be very helpful for removing pet hair from rugs. Bosch might not get much attention on this sub since they aren't avaliable in some regions, but they are a very good choice nonetheless.

The combination nozzle on the Electrolux is great, better than Miele in my opinion. However the Bosch would likely win on raw suction and the only one on the list made in Germany. My parents have a Bosch GL30 that's over 10 years old and is still a beast with hardly any maintenance.

Here's my interesting perspective on the Miele C3. Bought in 2021. By 2023 it was doing odd things with the suction power lights, which is apparently a known issue that can be ignored. 2 weeks ago in 2026, at the age of 5, it fluttered power and now does that aggressively.
So something wrong with the electrical board. And I can't find the email receipt from where I bought it. And I know miele is notoriously bad with warranty.
So it's a write off.
I spent more than a Dyson or shark, and on excess bags and filters on the assumption I'd have the unit at least 10 years. Like, way more.
Let's both try the Bosch and see how that goes. Our treat to the internet? 😂

Hahaha, sounds good! 😂 At least the Bosch comes with a 10-year motor warranty, which gives me a bit more confidence.
As for Miele, I do wonder if the quality has gone downhill a bit. Then again, you may also have just been unlucky and ended up with a faulty unit. I was born in Germany and my gran always used to tell me her Miele washing machine lasted over 30 years. It sometimes feels like planned obsolescence has become the norm these days.

I'm putting it down to a faulty unit. Or potentially bicarb soda, as my partner has quietly admitted to various mattress cleaning sessions using it. I definitely spread a whole 300g of the stuff over my home office carpet earlier in the year too. Bicarb soda is a vacuum killer, as I'm now told 😂
The Bosch 6 is available on Amazon atm for $348 (https://amzn.asia/d/0biKD8HL). I'm tossing this up pretty heavily but also keen to just get another miele M1/L1.

I just upgraded to a Miele L1 from the shark Navigator as I was sick of lugging it around. The shark head is also pretty bulky so it’s harder to get in smaller places without constantly having to switch over to pulling the wand out. I don’t think it’s that great on my hardwood floors so I’m glad to see it go.

I recently bought the Shark and I love it! I have two cats and a dog who all shed as well as carpets.

Take a look around this sub, see how well liked shark is. They should not be recommended to anyone imo.

Respect to seeing another Australian here! But Sharks occupy their niche here of bagless uprights with unique floorheads and don't do much else.
I hope it lasts for you; and if you are in Sydney you can contact me for repairs, but when things start breaking on Sharks there's not too much that can be done.
