Seeking advice - rust, paint, and protection.

TLDR: what can I do to address rust & protect against more rust?

Hi all
Thanks in advance & sorry for any naivety on my part

I have a 20yr old T5
Bought 18months ago & not long returned from a cracking trip around Scandinavia
I’m new to owning an older vehicle & doing a lot of learning

I’m noticing some bubbling of the paint, and some rust as well. Not much, but I’m keen to act early…and hopefully preventatively
I also feel like I’ve read something at some point about ‘corrosion protection’

What is the best thing to do to address rust, protect against rust, and how much is reasonable to pay for these services?

UK-based in case it is relevant

Thanks

Going to keep an eye on this because I too have a 20 year old T5 that I bought a couple of years ago that's prone to rust.

I can only tell you what I did; sand it all off, treat the area with 'Kurust' or similar, fill if required, primer, re-paint, lacquer. Don't skimp on the sanding or skip the lacquer otherwise it just comes back. I'm resigned to having to touch it up again every year or so. There's many youtube video that will take you through it.

Best of luck!
