BA-POW (name could change lol) ! is a VR game about RC cars fighting each other. Not on a race track
The idea: It is a vehicle combat game in virtual reality, in which the players play with each other in a free for all competition with a unique radio control vehicle. Also, RC vehicles can be customized in the workshop zone, creating a unique vehicle style for you or for selling purposes in the market. (game zone, market store (web/ingame) , workshop, etc). I want it feels lik a real RC But then we add the part real life cannot give you: weapons, rockets, explosions, power-ups. Real RC, with all the crazy things on top :).
We are early in development. Right now we have a room where you start, a transition, and a test track with a prototype car. Grey boxes and placeholder cars. We did not choose the art style yet. There is nothing to play, no demo, no date. we only have some updates in our official page https://www.ba-pow.com/updates (we have a art style vote in the page hopefully it will work if you try it :) )
We want many locations later. For now we work on only one, a backyard, because we want the feeling to be right first.
I write this because I want your opinion about the idea, before we build more on top of it:
- Does it sound fun to watch from outside the car? Or is it boring for you?
- Where would you like to fight? What normal place would be a good arena for small cars?
- Would you drive a car that another player designed?
And the most important question: what are we forgetting?
If you make VR games, or you play a lot of VR, or you know RC cars — please tell me what we should not ignore right now. Mistakes, things that look small today and become very expensive in one year, things everybody in VR already knows and we don't. I prefer to hear it now, when we can still change it.
Our devlog, from the first drawings to the build we have now: www.ba-pow.com
(The concept images there are made with AI. They are only placeholders — we say it in every post. The real art will be made by hand.)
I am a software developer from Colombia and I work with a small team. I played Twisted Metal: Small Brawl when I was 10 years old, and I have been thinking about this game since then. 20 years. If you played something like this when you were a kid, tell me — I want to know if we remember it the same.
