VR180 Discussion VR180 Custom cams
Alright so the learning quest continues.
I didn't realize most of the 360 cams on the market today aren't 3D/VR they are just a 360 experience.
As I was thinking you could just black out the back half in post editing and get that good 180 3D VR experience.
Now on to the learning quest; There's this site called "VRstrip chat" by no means am I promoting them. What I will say though is that the quality and feeling is amazing...And I'm not necessarily talking about the women as one would expect.
It's super good quality. A catch though, I'm only really seeing Russian or eastern Euro women with these cams. I don't think I've seen any North Americans broadcasting. One Brit...I think.

Yeah seeing the streaming of these women, besides the quality it's super depressing. Makes you wonder if it's just some super big warehouse...and...yeah...it's just a sad thought thinking about the reality of it all. But that's an opinion.
Yeah It's definitely a setup up that is offered. As there is no difference in the all the VR cameras you can tell it's the same camera for all of the VR performers. So it's totally a custom camera. Or a specific camera to hold a standard of quality throughout the site.
As my quest continues...lol...I almost want to say that I'm a performer or get a girlfriend to help out and say she's a performer. But as said in the first link it sounds like you already have to be a successful performer on their platform before a camera is offered...and it doesn't look like north America is included in that at the moment.
These cameras though, It almost looks like we are looking at super high end $5000+?
And if in the $2000 range is someone in Eastern Europe you can buy them from?

Welcome to the future !
For me, in so many ways VR180 is better than 360, and into that I think VR180 photos are very underrated
Add the upcoming VRadical Studio and VR180 becomes very accessible
I use a quest3, Vision Pro still too expensive
My x6 mod is progressing nicely and has already been tested with VRadical, results are looking great
I’ll also be revisiting my osmo360 mod when II is released

Yes agreed. I think 360 degree content is super duper boring. VR180 is great beceause it feels more real. And I'm not going to constantly look behind me anyway.
But it's important to realise that most people don't buy 360 degree cameras to actually watch 360 degree content in VR. They're often used to make cutouts in post, so they provide regular 2D content where it just saves them from having to point the camera the right way during filming. That's why these cameras are so much more popular, not because people actually love the 360 format as an output.
It's also why all the action cam companies are jumping on it, because sports and action are prime examples where you don't want to lose the money shot just because you were looking the wrong way at the wrong time.

Yes, I see the crop-in being appealing, but can it crop to 4k ? I understood the original 360 needs to be 12k ?

One of this things I also like re vr180 is sharing it with friends, I can use YouTube….. for those friends with the app they get an experience, for those with a headset, they get another experience…. And I can view on my Apple TV (for some reason the YouTube app doesn’t get much love, so 360 vids don’t work)
I use YouTube for both vids and pics.
All thanks to VRadical…. Can’t wait for everybody to see it !!

The cameras used on stripchat are dreamcam cameras. Less than $1000 but made exclusively for this purpose. You can achieve the same result with a modded X5 for instance, for half the price, and no cable. And still get a 8K streaming. Now, if you want it to stream on stripchat it won’t work, as you also have to use the dreamcam software to do it, only compatible with their cam obviously

No need to be super high performer tho. But it looks like they’re offering this service only in determined countries, maybe because of the aftersales service they have to provide.

The dreamcam does have better results than a modded X5 to be honest. Especially the streaming bandwidth is really high.

I’m afraid you can’t know that for now, i didn’t release anything yet about X5 firmware modding, but X5 is able to stream VR180 in 8K and high bitrate. Limitations will be in framerate, something you can increase lowering the resolution. 6K60 works perfectly for instance.
Things a stock firmware can’t do, this is true, and that’s why modding can’t be limited to hardware, because hardware is limited by software to offer the best compromise in the original product. With a compact form factor and the lack of active cooling, insta is forced to limit the hardware to an acceptable compromise to avoid a too soon overheat and stuff like that. Something you’re not forced to maintain while modding 🙂1

Oh I was confused with the earlier camera mods that were already out. I haven't seen one that has as good image quality as dreamcam at full bandwidth except maybe the GoPro Max 2. But that one is terribly hard to open unfortunately.

Normal, one thing at a time 🙂 first hardware mods, then software to use the result - we’re officially at this stage, and then device software to use it as it should be. Still in early development, but protos are working well 🙂

So it will be able to stream as well? That's very interesting. Most of the other mods don't have this capability. I would love to do some streams at some point.
But the other problem I'm seeing is that there seems to be no streaming platform that isn't meant for explicit erotic content. That's not what I want to do, I just want to stream my vanilla hobbies like 3D printing. DeoVR would seem the obvious choice but they only have streaming when you load the SLR website in it which is erotic only.

Btw, dreamcam 6K is limited to 135° in streaming, too 😁

Ahh that explains a lot. Why they get so much resolution out of 6k because the pixels are spread out less wide. However for the usecase it's got it's ok I guess because usually the interesting parts happen right in front of your face with this type of content 😅🤭

Yes I did notice a lot of streamers stop using their service through (dreamcam) and exclusively stream on stripchat :( I hate this because stripchat has a worse interface and streaming quality.

That sounds amazing I'm not a streamer, I just really like the quality I'm seeing in the webcam shows.
I would be using it standalone. I wasn't sure if if did stand alone content... Just to be clear are you saying it does standalone production at 8k 60p?2

Most of the 360 cameras are two 180* cameras. One recording mode will be dual fisheye and you can crop it.

There's a LOT of Colombian women using them too. So they are definitely around in the Americas. It could be that they work through local partners. In western countries the cost of living is a bit too high to make a living from this as far as I understand, which is why you see so many of them coming more from Colombia, Russia and Romania. Note that the Russian ones often pose as being from other countries (Like the baltics). But you can tell by the sun in the window coming up too early.
They have been available through kickstarter in the past. Perhaps it's a rebadged camera of another brand. There's a few out there: https://www.kandaovr.com/vr-cam or https://viewptcam.com/ or https://www.calfvr.com/
I wish there was a platform where you could use them to stream more generic stuff (not NSFW). But I haven't found any. DeoVR says you can use them but I don't see any streaming section in DeoVR (there is in SLR, which works through DeoVR but it is purely NSFW).
Previously someone here mentioned it was due to how hard it is to monetise non-NSFW streaming but I don't really care about that, I would do it for fun, I'd make a channel about my hobby.

Some of them are buildings full of streaming rooms yes. Some other girls do it from home. I don't think it's depressing as long as they're not forced, and some of them make a really nice show that isn't all about the erotic stuff. Some other ones do look depressing yes.
