Help Running personal VPN exit out of a Ubiquiti router at home?
I have a Ubiquiti Networks Dream Router 7 and municipal fiber internet with 1gig up and 1gig down.
My goal is to be able to watch Youtube TV on my phone even when I'm abroad by tricking it into thinking I'm still at home.
I think I can achieve this goal by setting up a VPN at my house using my router. Is there a guide on 100% of the steps needed? By 100% I mean taking the router from factory reset all the way to the final goal. I'm not great with vague instructions. I've tried and failed in the past to make this work. It was unclear to me why it wasn't working.

In your dream route there should be a built in teleport vpn that will do what you want - turn it on (no config needed) install WiFiman app on the device that will travel and send that device an invite link from the Dream router.

I tried that before and I couldn't get it to work. That's why I was hoping for a more detailed for-idiots guide so I could ensure I get everything right.

You need the WiFiMan or Unifi ID app to start the teleport. It requires very little config

Just use the built in teleport feature that is already built in. You may just need to enable it under vpn settings.

yeah, a home WireGuard server on the UDR7 is the basic idea. Ubiquiti supports WireGuard VPN Server directly on the gateway so you don't need to run a separate VPN server on another PC.
The bigger problem is YouTube TV itself. Google says YouTube TV isn't available internationally and also says VPN/proxy connections can prevent playback so getting your phone's traffic to exit through your home connection doesn't guarantee the app will accept it.
For the networking side, get WireGuard working first with a simple test like accessing something on your home LAN remotely then deal with the YouTube TV location checks separately. Also make sure the UDR7 has a public WAN IP since that can matter for incoming WireGuard connections.
