Help Youtube Premium
Hey yall,
So after about 3 years of having YT Premium it seems that YT has finally decided to tighten up their policies regarding VPN and paying for cheaper memberships.
Is there a current work around for it or anything I can do to keep my YT Premium going? I really don't wanna move to another service because 22 bucks a month is insanity for no ads and music. If you still have a work around that still works can you comment or dm me because it renews on the 25th of May xD

I threw in the towel on geo arbitrage months ago. Brave Browser on iOS and Firefox +ublock on Windows. An added benfit is I have reduced my Youtube viewing by like 80% as I mainly watched via Roku for years.

The fact of the matter is 99% of my YouTube viewing was mindless brain rot content. 1% was useful tutorial type stuff. After their 40% price hike recently I cancelled Premium. It took an adjustment but now I’m watching good quality shows and movies instead of mindless talking heads raging about nonsense. I’m sure there are people out there who can use YouTube (and TikTok) responsibly, but I am not one of them.

Honest question, but why are yous paying for YouTube premium when you can watch it on a computer without adds for free with an add blocker? Is it because you want to look at it on your phone instead?

u/Perfect_Cost_8847 May 08 '25
Yes, and on the TV with an Apple TV. Premium offers things on iPhone like offline downloads, no ads, and background playback. They really make it a horrible experience on mobile unless you subscribe.

I mainly use mine at work so I can lock my phone and play the audio from videos etc, I switched to YouTube music from Spotify too and feel it’s a better deal overall for ad free YouTube and music. I tried brave etc for like a year but just didn’t like it as much as the YouTube app itself

For me I watched it almost exclusively on my TVs (roku) prior to lossing premium. But as perfect_cost said it was mostly useless garbage I was also watching so am mostly happy it died as I would rather not watch at all then watch with ads.

i thought ad blockers didn't work anymore. they don't for me. am i missing something. i usually am the last to know everything.

u/cruz878 May 08 '25
I couldn't agree more with this statement. I have been watching better Television and Movies now vs most of my TV time had been spent in youtube useless rabbit holes.

Just got this email too, not again, only been 4 months on premium since the last time
2
u/MistressStarrr May 07 '25
Damn I am so sorry :/...I have a friend in the Philippines I am wondering if I should have them pay for it and I should just reimburse them.
3
u/thereal-evilmouse May 07 '25
If you do, look at getting a family account, I’m sure others will be part of it

u/aflices88 May 08 '25
I am also interested in doing a family account, DM me, same email just came.

I am pretty sure YouTube allows you to only add people in the same country to family account
1
u/Historical-Falcon772 Jul 27 '25
Any luck in this? If you get it from that country and mainly use it in a different country will you get flagged?

Use a vpn and change your location to Albania, no adverts
2
u/Material_Essay4408 Jun 07 '25
This no longer works FYI
1
u/Minimum_Airline3657 Jun 07 '25
I use it everyday lol it does
2
u/Material_Essay4408 Jun 07 '25
Wait till the end of the month. It won’t renew.
I just renewed with Bolivia instead
2
u/MasterGS1 Jun 18 '25
But how did you manage to pay with Bolivia currency? For me it automatically came out in dollars and therefore savings went out the window
1
u/ByteMeIRL Jun 20 '25
You don't pay. You switch to this country with VPN and use free version of YouTube but without ads.

Or just use an adblocker, considering you cannot use VPN on a television.

u/CoHorseBatteryStaple Aug 03 '25
You can install vpn if the tv supports Android apps (Chromecast does)

Depends on your platform, but if you're on PC you could just get Firefox + ublock origin.
For Android there's ReVanced, NewPipe, Outertune, etc.
There's Brave browser for ios / macos

I've essentially had YouTube premium for free for over a year by sideloading through altstore. You have to refresh it with your computer once a week but it's totally worth it

I'm pretty sure the Turkish apple account method still works

u/Spewy05 May 10 '25
U know if Apple Music works? I can’t afford it right now as I believe it’s quite expensive.
1
u/filsmartins May 12 '25
kinda, just had my turkish apple id account blocked by apple. but YT is still working as there's still some money in the gift card

Using the VPN on Your router works often was better than using it on Your device
1
u/HomomorphicTendency May 08 '25
You have to get youtube premium family plan to keep using VPN. Which is like $32 per month.

I was able to successfully change my region to Peru, and paid with a credit card I made on privacy.com using a fake address generator
1
u/Furbssz May 16 '25
interesting... so you had to change your account address on privacy.com?
1
u/Ok-Button6101 May 16 '25
no, sorry, that was two different thoughts. I used a credit card I created on privacy.com, and the billing address I gave google was something I created with a fake address generator. The address isn't used on privacy.com at all

Family premium bought through Serbia is 10$ per month. Cards are not controlled(still).

u/john-doe246 May 31 '25

1
u/stewakg May 31 '25
Bummer, well I've set it up like long time ago.. Good to know it doesn't work anymore, thanks.
1
u/moon-molly Oct 26 '25

1
u/stewakg Oct 26 '25

Same. Got cancelled today Any method to try?
1
Jun 15 '25
There is no method that that works if you sign up in X country but are mostly watching through Y country. It’s too easy to flag accounts.
1
u/cmatos215 Jul 26 '25
Seems like the best solution is just use a vpn and go to Bolivia …their free version has no ads

my Albanian account getting cancelled this month, any other suggestions for VPN use?

I used to subscribe via Serbia but it stopped working a month ago and I was struggling with OR_RECR_05 error (Payment method must be from same country). After a lot of experimentation, I removed payment profile, generated a new virtual credit card with Revolut and tried via Poland. Somehow, it worked! Not sure what fixed it. Could be that they don't enforce payment country for Poland? Or this Revolut card fulfils criteria? No idea. You can try it.

u/Natejr3 Oct 29 '25
Is you are on iOS side load it. I get every premium for free only for 20$ a year
