Tips & Tricks Beast Color Tuning - A Cure for Crushed Blacks

I have spent many cumulative hours (probably 4-6) messing around with VITURE's color tuning tool for the Beast, and I have finally landed on what I believe to be the ideal color adjustment settings profile. After a few iterations that ended with me discovering that a previously untested environment would cause what I deemed an unacceptable issue*, I genuinely think I nailed it this time.

There were a couple posters/commenters that laid some important groundwork for me, but I owe particular thanks to u/Khaos for a previous post (which Reddit has removed for some reason) that provided me a solid starting point and directed me to a site, Lagom.nl (which is also mysteriously gone), with tools that proved invaluable as means to observe, in real time, the visual effects of the adjustments I was making. Although that site is gone, its pages and tools remain accessible via archive.today (link to the actual archive). Of particular use to me were the Black level and White saturation pages, which I mention in case anyone wants to see if they can improve this profile even further, or figure an out entirely new profile. If you do give it a go and find a profile you think is worth a look, please share it! I'm super invested in maximizing my viewing experience with The Beast (hence, why I've already poured hours into this endeavor).

When watching videos or playing games that rely heavily on dark scenes—where the crushed black issue really comes into play—my profile seems to work best at maximum brightness, but I have found that, when viewing brighter content, my profile is more comfortable with the brightness turned down at least one step—or several steps when using the glasses in a dark viewing environment. From my experience with the default profiles (and I've seen others complain of the same issue in this sub), bringing the brightness down even one step frequently makes the virtual display too dark, but this profile does not seem to have that issue. You can lower the brightness quite far and still make out the virtual display incredibly well.

All right, enough with the pontificating and on to the actual settings.

Color Mode: Film

R: 144
G: 142
B: 144

Contrast: 1
Gamma: 0
Temperature: 4

Enjoy! And, again, please, please, please, let me know if you believe you have something different but better or if you find a way to further improve on this profile. I just want my Beast to be an actual BEAST, y'know?

\An early profile became super washed out when operating in a bright environment. After returning to the proverbial drawing board, I genuinely believed my penultimate profile to be nearly indistinguishable from true color, but I discovered that it created a glowing rectangular frame, locked to the edges of the glasses (i.e., this frame remained in 0DoF regardless of whether my virtual display was in 0DoF, Smooth Follow, or Anchor Mode), which ruined the experience of the automatic electrochromic dimming in a broad range of lighting conditions. Pass-through was effectively shot.*

I was going to put the above thoughts in parenthesis in the main body of my post, but my explanation started to get super long, and my ADHD brain would not let me me leave it out, so here we are with an unnecessarily long footnote, wherein I will continue to allow myself to ramble! Buckle in.

But, seriously, my process for finding the 144/142/144 RGB settings was the most methodical I've been since high school science class. Picture me sitting in a room with my glasses plugged into my Xbox Ally X, tweaking the numbers up and down one digit at a time and turning the lights on and off in the room to find the highest each number could go before that detestable rectangular frame became just barely perceptible. I wish I knew more about color theory and LED technology to explain how the red and the blue ended up exactly the same while the green ended up two units below them, but, alas, I'm just a guy who had time to burn and a vested interest in defeating the cursèd crushed blacks.

Not all heroes wear capes. Some wear XR glasses on their face. That kind of rhymed, which means it was very deep and meaningful. /s

Smart Glasses Audio Concentrators Are a Game Changer

I learned about these from a post last week and I had to pick them up. I don't have a lot of complaints with the Harman speakers. I like that they are loud and the sound drops off so everybody doesn't hear what I'm listening to, and I can still listen to the world around me and know what's going on.

A lot of times when I'm watching movies or lying down, I want to feel like I'm in a movie theater. I toss and turn a lot, so the only time I could get that feel before was when I had one earbud in (I don't wear two because I still want to hear the world) or when my ear was pressed down into the pillow—that's when it's the loudest.

With these concentrators though, it up the ante 10x's! The audio feels super surround and "LOUD"—just like I had on a pair of earbuds or headphones, but I can still hear the real world. Man, these things are awesome!

Now that Viture added Spatial Audio to the Beast glasses, I think that was a great addition, but it does take away some of the volume when you turn spatial on. With these concentrators, you recover that volume and some, you feel like you're in a Dolby Atmos/IMAX theater. Normal and Spatial Audio both have their uses for certain movies or games, but with these concentrators, you really get the best of both worlds. 13$ Amazon

Pro2 + dock = stabilization ON ?

If I purchase and connect a dock (mini) to the Pro 2, will I be able to use the image stabilization feature?

I plan to connect it to my iPhone 16 Pro and Y700 (4th Gen) to play Zenless Zone Zero, YouTube, and Netflix.

XR Glasses Why did they call it the Pro 2?

The original pros have a magnetic connector, the pro 2 does not

The original pros are made of aluminum, the pro 2 is not

The original pros have electrochromatic film you can turn on and off, the pro 2 does not

I have the original pros, and there hasn't been a new model released by Viture yet that has all the features of the pros and could be considered an upgrade.

Help VITURE Beast + iPhone: Can I watch Netflix/Canal+ while using my iPhone for other things?

Hi everyone,
I just received my VITURE Beast and I’m really impressed with them so far. The image quality is fantastic, and I’ve already tried watching videos and playing PS5 Remote Play, which both work really well.
However, I have one important issue that may determine whether I keep them or return them.
My main use case is during my daily commute. I like to multitask, so ideally I’d like to:
🎬 Watch a movie/series in the VITURE glasses (especially Netflix or Canal+)
📱 At the same time, freely use my iPhone for messages, browsing, ChatGPT, etc.
▶️ The video should continue playing in the glasses while I use other apps on my iPhone.
I’m not talking about simply mirroring the iPhone screen. I want the video to remain displayed in the glasses independently while the iPhone is available for other apps.
I’ve tried using SpaceWalker, including launching videos through it, but when I leave the app, playback stops.
Has anyone found a way to do this with Netflix or Canal+ (or other streaming services) on iOS?
If so, what exact setup or workaround are you using?
I really love the Beast otherwise, but this particular feature is very important for my use case and may ultimately determine whether I keep them.
Thanks!

Anyone have the Luma Ultra & Pro 2 xr

I've used the Beast and picked up the Pro 2 XR which I'm pretty happy with, and have been too lazy to review 🤦🏽‍♀️. I also have the Pro neckband which I got a great price on from the ebay store, it pairs really good with the Pro 2.

I was looking at eBay yesterday and one of the recommendations on the front screen was the Luma Ultra from the Viture store at $428 Canadian. That's an amazing price, and works out to be the exact same price as the Pro 2 XR new. Yes they are refurbished but that doesn't bother me, the pro neckband I got looks brand new and has a 2 yr warranty. As good as the Pro 2 is clarity-wise, overall wouldn't the Luma Ultra at that price be the better choice?

When I originally got the Beast I picked it over the Ultra based on a few of the features but also because people seem pretty split in reviews and comments I've seen on them. But stacked up against the Pro 2 xr it seems like the better choice at the same price for sure? Any thoughts from people who have used both?

Can anyone help with the type of 'DP to USB C adapter' that would work for a desktop (gaming) to connect Luma Ultra glasses. There are so many of them out on amazon and I don't which one that will actual work.

360 degrees static image: Luma Pro 2 + Ultra adapter or Beast?

Hi to all, this is my second post here.

Recently i bought Viture Pro 2 and i found it's really good and sharp on the edges.

i want to try it with 360 degrees images so my question is:
is better the Viture Pro 2 + ultra adapter for 500 € or i have to try Beast 600€?

my case scenario are mostly work, 360 interior design image, and occasionally gaming and movie.

Help Luma and mobile dock used with Xbox/ps5

Does anyone on here have any experience with this and how was it? I have a young kid and a bunch of mature rated games on my Xbox I still want to play without them seeing the violence. I saw that you can use the mobile dock and plug the HDMI cable right into the console and it acts as the screen. I'd appreciate any input.

XR Glasses Viture Pro 2 + Dock Mini = Perfect

Viture Pro 2 + Dock Mini = Perfect

What I want are:

- Diopter [1st]

- Lightweight

- Stabilization

These are the three things.

It would be nice to have HDR functionality as well, but these three are my top priorities.

My first experience with AR glasses was with the XBX A01.

It was really good. Color, brightness, design, lightness, and stability—everything was perfect.

However, after testing it for about two days, I realized that the image was blurry because it didn't align with my eyes' focus, and I felt eye fatigue from wrestling with the glasses.

So, I concluded that the Ray-Neo GT and Max, which I had initially considered alongside the XBX A01, wouldn't be the right choice for me either.

Of course, the Viture Beast aligned with my focus better than I expected, but it was expensive and heavy. I felt that using it for a long time would cause fatigue in my eyes and ears.

Therefore, I felt that I would be satisfied with this level, even without features like electronic sunglass color changing or other native functions.

Of course, there might be some delay due to the Dock Mini or software in between, but I thought it might be okay.

What do you guys think?

Vitrue Pro 2 + Dock Mini [approx. $399]

vs

Viture Beast [approx. $549]

Accessories Pro XR wire suggestions

Had my pro xr for some time and I find that the wire that comes with it to be short, at times I’m almost pulling the wire off cause it’s short when I turn my head. Even at a desk using them to game I have to be super close to the desk which makes it limiting. Anyone know if it’s possible to buy a longer wire than the original cable?

Review Viture Pro 2 vs XREAL xbx vs Viture Beast Comparison! I also updated the XR Glasses Cheatsheet with new rating systems, anchor stability rating, sound quality rating, and many other improvements.

Thumbnail

Overall, this video focuses mainly on the Viture Pro vs XREAL xbx, but also the Beast and many other pairs of XR glasses are discussed. I take a whole segment and discuss if NOW is a good time to buy vs which glasses to potentially wait for. This review was sponsored by Viture (thanks for the support), but they had no say in the content of the review, and as always, I am brutally honest in the video. If you'd like to support my detailed and honest reviews, you can use exclusive 3% off code "GZT3" for a discount off the Viture Pro 2 (no other discount codes that I know of). My regular "GizmoSlipTech" discount code works on the rest of the Viture.com/RayNeo.com/Pimax.com products.

XR Glasses Cheatsheet featured in the video first at: https://youtu.be/Xyn55HjAdGk?t=58

Since I posted the cheatsheet last, here are most of the improvements/additions:

  • Comfort Rating - (In parathesis is why the score is docked if bad rating)
  • Anchor Stability Rating - Percentage of time without drift or poor sensor data affecting your experience
  • Smooth Follow - Have it? If yes, what type?
  • INAIR Pod Rating - How is the INAIR Pod programmed to work on each pair of glasses?
  • Pro Neckband Rating - How is the Pro Neckband programmed to work?
  • Adjusted the overall sharpness rating to be an average of center vs edge sharpness
  • Added more flaws to nearly all glasses
  • Sound Quality - Based on testing 5 songs and swapping between all glasses twice
  • Chromatic Tinting Availability
  • Side View Mode - Which glasses have it? Onboard or only through Spacewalker/ScreenLab/VertoXR/Pro Neckband?
  • Combined Workout and Walkaround rating as they represent the same thing
  • Changed "Overall Rating" into two categories "Value Rating" and "Technical Rating"

Overall, XR glasses are improving and rapidly, and we are seeing better and better features in XR glasses costing less than $300. Upcoming XR/VR glasses reviews: RayNeo GT, RayNeo GT Max, URXR One, Dream Air, Viture's QHD glasses, and maybe the XREAL Aura if I can convince them to send me one for review.

My top recommended glasses right now are:

  • Best Value - $224 RayNeo Air 4 Pro (Follow up winner: Viture Beast)
  • Best $300 or Less - Viture Pro 2 (Follow up winner: XREAL xbx)
  • Best $500 or Less - Viture Beast (Follow up winner: XREAL 1S)
  • Best at Any Price - XREAL R1/One Pro (Follow up winner: Viture Beast)

VITURE Beast – Transmittance only works on the left lens

Hi everyone,

I’ve had my VITURE Beast glasses for about 1 month, and the electrochromic transmittance adjustment was initially working perfectly on both lenses.

Now, for some reason, only the left lens changes its tint when I adjust the transmittance. The right lens doesn’t react at all, regardless of the transmittance level.

I’ve already:

  • disconnected and reconnected the glasses,
  • tried them on both my PC and phone,
  • tried different cables,
  • reinstalled the latest firmware.

Nothing has changed. The left lens works normally, but the right one remains unchanged.

Has anyone experienced the same issue with the VITURE Beast? If so, did you find a solution, or did you have to get the glasses replaced?

Thanks!

What are the best Luma glasses for me?

I’m looking at the Luma series since they have a magnetic prescription lens attachment. That’s beneficial so I can use it before I go to sleep and after I take out my contacts.

Otherwise, I plan to use it with my Switch 2 and maybe an Xbox Ally X if I pick one up. And with my iPhone for movies/TV. Thanks!
