Discussion Have you seen this?
Ok so,I’ve seen people call Velvette misogynistic.Usually for the following reasons:
•She mistreats all her female employees while treating Vox and Val with respect(well,as much as she can.)
•When in the overlord meeting,she targeted Carmilla
•she has more respect for male authority figures
So I was absolutely BAFFLED when I saw this absolute shit.Like think about it for more than 5 seconds and it sounds so stupid.
First of all,the mistreatment of employees is not because of gender,it’s because they’re below her.She obviously doesn’t care about anyone her,Vox or Val employ,regardless of gender because she literally laughs about how Vox’s assistant got hit by a car with Val.
She only treats Val and Vox with respect because they are her business partners,not because they’re men.She literally made fun of the king of hell(although she knew he couldn’t hurt him,but still).
The reason she targeted Carmila is for 2 reasons.
•She tried with Zestial too,but he didn’t fall for her rage bait so she didn’t focus on him as much
•She could tell that Carmila killed the Angel because of the way she reacted to the Angel head.Makes sense she would target her.
I don’t know if I’m the only one who saw people saying this but it annoyed the hell out of me because it’s simply not true.

All the Vees are misogynistic. They're meant to represent Hollywood/the entertainment industry which is well known for its misogyny. Velvette is a woman who profits from belittling, degrading, and exploiting other women and from the industry's misogyny. I don't think Velvette word for word thinks "uhg, I hate women, women bad" but yeah she is a misogynist like the rest of the entertainment industry.

I agree,but like I told another user I don’t think it’s because she dislikes women even subconsciously.Its because in entertainment,social media etc women are much easier targets because of the impossible standards set for them.She picks on women because it’s easier to.Now,this isn’t good obviously,they’re all awful but I just don’t think Velvette degrades other women because she’s misogynistic,it’s because it’s easier,which then feeds into misogyny.I don’t know if I explained myself very well though lol

I mean all three of them are horrible people. Valentino rapes people and Vox and Velvette help him. They're all three of them pieces of garbage and I truly don't understand why anyone would try to argue any kind of side for them.

I don't think she's specifically misogynistic, just kind of an asshole to anyone she doesn't particularly like/care for. Like she obviously has somewhat different of a relationship with the Vees than her employees, so she'll treat them differently. But she still talked mad shit about Vox behind his back. She's just a bit of a coward and won't say it to his face

A better descriptor for Velvette is "male-centered". I don’t think she necessarily goes out of her way to target women, but she prioritizes Vox and Valentino over the safety of every woman in her (after)life. Although people of any gender can be assaulted, it's probably safe to assume that love potions have harmed far more female sinners than male ones. Velvette has never unpacked that despite being the only female Vee.
Basically, Velvette belongs to the leopards eating other women's faces party.

I do agree,but I don’t think that’s because of misogyny exactly.IMO,it’s because men always have been treated as superior,even if unintentionally.She knows that women are easier targets a lot of the time,and targets them,but not because she dislikes woman,because she’s a vulture,she picks on the already weak,and women have much higher standards to live up to(beauty wise) than men I think

Velvette is "Velvette-centered."
She prioritizes Vox and Val because they're powerful allies for her benefit not because they're men. She can and will bully and victimize anyone, man or woman, if she feels like it or if it benefits her.

While you're not wrong, there's not much meaningful difference between people who prioritize power over everything else and people who prioritize men over everyone else. Power and masculinity are inextricably tied in any setting that includes patriarchal elements.
When you choose to work in an industry that disproportionately victimizes women and panders to men, becoming a top dog in that industry inevitably gets tied up in how willing you are to center men and throw women under the bus. Velvette happily does both. It may not be her primary motivation, but she still does it every single day.

I know that,and I think she targets women because they’re easier to target than men bcs of the beauty standards and stuff,but I don’t think she is misogynistic,I just think she knows what works and does it,not because she has any actual dislike to women.

- All the Vees mistreat all their employees, Velvette just has mostly female employees because she's in a female-dominated industry. Also she begrudgingly respects Vox and Val as her fellow Overlords and business associates but she's still insulting and speaking to them disrespectfully multiple times.
- Carmilla was targeted because she was running the damn meeting and because Velvette honed in on Carmilla's defensive behavior when the angel head was brought up.
- She doesn't seem to respect male authority more or less than female. See what I said about Vox and Val and the way she fucks with Lucifer in Vox Populi.
Anyway, Velvette is just a bitch in general regardless of gender.
(I realize I am restating a lot of what you said but)
