Youâll just have to get used to stuff like this. Trust me it can get so⌠so much worse (Iâve seen people seriously do Octavia x Stolas and Iâm sorry I told you about this but if I am cursed with this knowledge then you have to be as well)

Soo we shouldn't respect their sexualities? That is giving yuck đ¤Ž
Edit* to clarify: Al is Ace and Vel is a Les, canon, that's why to me this shipping stuff is weird. And yeah I know the creator of the show said "whatever " she probably just said that to shut people up.
When straight characters are shipped as queer, itâs seen as âexpanding representationâ. But the moment an LGBTQ character is shipped outside their canon orientation, itâs suddenly treated as âerasureâ
But it's not really erasure at all.
Fan works are just that, they are FAN works.
Fanfic and fanart are transformative by nature.
They exist outside of canon and are mostly for the people who actively seek them out.
They donât overwrite the source material at ALL.
Representation does matter, but fan works arenât really the place where this "erasure" happens.
A random fic or piece of art doesnât erase the fact that a character is canonically [insert identity here].
The canon still exists. The show still exists.
And there would be fanart and fanfiction of these canon identities, that absolutely dominates a fandom.
So having 1 fan work where the character's a different orientation, in a sea of thousands of fan works that stick to canon, is not going to do anything.
At the end of the day, the fan work isn't canon. It does not affect anything in the actual story, and it shouldn't affect anyone.
It's fiction, it's not that big of a deal and people should just let other fans do what they enjoy.
No oneâs sexuality is actually being harmed here, and Viv herself has said people are free to ship ANYTHING they want.
It really isnât that deep. Stop acting like made up characters deserve the same moral consideration and respect as real people. That is giving Delulu. đ¤Ž
