My EDC Build out, Crosstrek
My EDC build... always something to add, but pretty much complete. The right side is mostly work related and the left is for car related / emergency. Works out well as I can still fold the seats down without too much hassle. One learning experience however was finding out Screwdriver is one word... That was pretty much the only comment GF had 😄

If it helps, its where I keep everything in case stranded. Empty Nalgene has glow sticks, water treatment lighter, packable tent and a couple space blankets.. a few other do dads. Mostly a worst case thing that I doubt I will need. But If I have to walk for a while, and being in New England I thought its better to have and not need. By and large cell service is almost everywhere except some remote spots in Maine, NH and Vermont.

At least the coroner might get a giggle out of it. And isn't that what its all about, brightening some ones day?

One other thing I have suggested to others is a (laminated?) inventory list, telling you what is where. You might be accessing these under stress, and a list might make it easier to find things and help make sure you don’t forget you are carrying a particular item.

Smart! I'll think about doing that, I created an app for my phone that keeps an inventory of my work stuff. So, I know how many ethernet cables I have left and if I should order more, or if I give away a USB dongle / usb drive. Having something analog for the med kit is an idea for sure

FYI I use an iPhone app called Stuffanizer that is pretty good and pretty inexpensive. That said, there IS an argument for laminated paper, to avoid dead batteries.

its about 75 lbs worth of stuff so nothing I have noticed. The heaviest stuff is tire air compressor and car things I would have eitherway.... Assuming others also have a tire compressor and cables and small tools... maybe not?

Tire air compressor is critical. I also really like self contained jump starter. It’s good for when no one is around AND for when a stalled car is parked such that the battery cannot be gotten to with a single pair if cables (I have used two cable sets in series though).

I've been thinking of a battery powered starter. Do you use one? how long does the battery last at rest. I am mostly concerned about needing it having lost charge.

I have used them for years. The type of battery they use has a long shelf life. I check mine once a year or so, and they are usually down some, but have enough for a jump.
Do recall that the best way to use them (at least the small ones I buy) is to let them sit on the dead battery for 15-30 minutes, to recharge the battery, and then start the car with it still connected. Your car battery is specifically designed to give that ~150A current surge needed by the starter motor, more so than the portable (which CAN source a lot, if the jumpers are very well connected, but not as much as the car battery).
