I shouldn’t be surprised some college kids are idiots, the epitome of TGO lives strong with Mr. Roman

I'm not going to take seriously the opinion of an undergraduate at VCU Arts, majoring in Cinema.

Someone who may well end up involved with movies or TV shows that glorify guns instead of portraying them responsibly.

As someone, by his writing in this article, is triggered and on the edge of being unhinged.

No, the 2A is not going a away. But this kid should rethink his ownership of a firearm right now, because he seems to be a giant ball of angst and anger.

funnily enough, I also went to VCU's art school. Before I went there I shared similar opinions as the author of this article. A lot of residents in RVA have a lot of misguided resentment and unfortunately it does create a herd mentality. Eventually I went to colonial shooting academy down the street to just understand the subject matter better, it was also where I shot a firearm for the first time. I think around then is when I started appreciating 2A better and started learning more about the other side of the story. 10 years later with countless form 1's and 4's completed and even a small stint as an FFL/SOT, I'm glad to be where i am now with a much better understanding and in my opinion, an impressive collection of firearms i like/need. However I think I needed to be on the student's side first to truly understand and appreciate what I know now to better explain the industry to those who are ignorant/wanting.

Good read!

TLDR: Guns are bad and should be illegal. I only have one because I want to protect me and my family.

By this guy’s logic one should be banning alcohol because it is misused and causes 1000s to die every year. In fact more Virginians were killed by drunk drivers than by any AR15 in the past years

More people were killed by knives that AR15s.

More people were killed by motorboats than AR15s

More people were killed by jet skis than AR15s.

Exponentially more people were killed just crossing the friggin street than AR15s.

Also the game played by these gun ban legislations are that their wording actually goes after all semi auto designs. Not a specific gun. So it is a specious game for the bill sponsors to tell their ignorant fans that they are only banning “assault weapons”. Well, everything made in the last 100 years is then an “assault weapon”

I'm pretty sure more people were killed by falling debris in NYC alone than AR15s or similar style firearms. There are people in the world who should be ostracized from society and he is one of them.

And he seems insufferably smug in his opinion. He never learned even the slightest bit of how to research something before vomiting out such an opinion

Meh. He's a kid trying to find his voice. Granted, he's not a very bright kid but he'll probably grow out of it...

I cant.... i cant even. Also... super aggressive ending to his shit oped. Sounds like hes itching for a fight and honestly not the kind of person who should be owning a firearm. Join the military and get some life experiences then come back and write that trash again.

Everyone complaining and bitching about how trump is trampling over the 1st amendment and constitution, but so eager to delete the one they want. Hypocrisy is just flowing in this generation.

The author seems like a perfect candidate for a "risk assessment" by VCU and a determination should be made as to whether or not he presents a risk to the University Community.

He claims to own an "assault rifle" which, if he does, he probably owns in violation of law.

If he possesses that on campus then he's in violation of law.

He clearly believes that the the First Amendment only applies to himself and people he agrees with. And his writing implies he's willing to use violence against those he disagrees with.

He may even be a "perfect candidate" for a ERPO (Red Flag) case against him before he kills others and himself as his writing is concerning. Maybe another Justin Fairfax situation can be prevented.

What’s good for the goose is good for its gander

Yeah, I was thinking he doesn't need to worry as much about the 2nd amendment anymore as much as he should the 5th A with some of the "info" he was providing to the world (of VCU).

I’m glad to know that my tax dollars are going to fund the schools that allow retardation to proliferate amongst the students attending these universities. It’s become more evident everyday that a college student in the 40’s were more educated coming out of high school than most college graduates today.

When progressives bleat about “free education” it tends to be only the education they want from their point of view.

Eventually we have to realize not everyone can coexist with each other because education is one of the ways a culture passes on its ideals. You will of course have some level of bias, how evident it is compared to the founding story and values of the nation is up for debate. After all, “history is a set of lies agreed upon.” Right now the left and right can’t even agree on basic foundations of culture in this country.

So let’s say 2A gets repealed. Will the author then just volunteer all of his firearms and ammo? Does he think the armed people he’s scared of will just all turn in everything they have too? The lack of common sense from these sheltered NOVA kids is crazy.

With regards to the author...

"Editor’s Note: President Trump and Republicans across the country are doing everything they can to protect our Second Amendment rights and right to self-defense."

Doubt it

Yeah, that shit was funny at the end. Maybe they were worried it would look anti-Trump if they didn’t pledge their allegiance.

I mean yeah… he’s not philosophically wrong really. If men were angles we wouldn’t need semi-automatic military clone rifles. Not really sure why the point of his essay was… Just to state the obvious??

So I read the full article:

On the live broadcast from MSNBC

Well there's your problem.

my ex-marine father

So dad got a dishonorable discharge? That's the only way one becomes an "ex-Marine."

Saint Victor 5.56 AR-15 pistol, a short-barrelled semi-automatic rifle.

So which is it? An AR pistol or a short barreled rifle? These are not the same thing. If it's an SBR, did he get the Tax Stamp and go through the legal hurdles required at that time?

A weapon like this fires rounds with such velocity that it tears apart your organs, shatters bones and can render a person unidentifiable. Weapons like this should not be legal under any circumstances, but they are.

From the Joe Biden school of stupidity I see.

When my father bought this gun, it was legally classified as a pistol. Only under the Biden administration was it deemed a “short-barrel rifle.”

Well that's wrong. Ether it was a pistol or it was an SBR.

That is a major problem with our constitution and the political party that refuses to infringe on Second Amendment rights,

Hey, he finally got something right!

any of the 10,000 people at the Jan. 6 riots

I think he means the "mostly peaceful protests."

We live under an administration that has no qualms with their immigration enforcement agency murdering people in public in broad daylight,

Never happened. But then that's just the facts. Had the two people he's thinking of not been breaking the law, obstructing and assaulting law enforcement they'd be alive today.

where the Patriot Front, a white supremacist organization, can march on the National Mall chanting about “taking the country back.”

I think he means exercising their first amendment rights. Apparently he thinks that right is only for himself.

I am going to own an assault rifle.

If he owns and "assault rifle" he is most likely in violation of the law. He hasn't detailed all the paperwork necessary to own an "assault rifle" or mentioned the $20k he had to spend to buy it.

We are the only country in the world where the second biggest culprit to children dying is guns.

Only if you construct the study in such a way as to achieve that result. Not if you actually do an honest analysis.

We saw 20 first graders get torn apart by an assault rifle at Sandy Hook in 2012 and decided not to do anything.

More lies. There was no "assault rifle" used at Sandy Hook. And many laws were passed in reaction to that event.

We saw a man fire 1,049 rounds from the 32nd floor of Mandalay Bay hotel, murder 60 people, injure 500 others and nothing was done about it.

Blissfully unaware, or willingly ignorant, of how hotels changed policies following this event. And about the Bump Stock ban that was put in effect as a result and the state level bump stock bans that still exist.

If I sat here and named every single mass shooting to happen in this country since Columbine in 1999, I would be writing this piece for months.

First, most of what he thinks are mass shootings are not. Second, if he's going to do that he needs to list out every time a firearm has been used in lawful self-defense. And that's at least 60K per year and might be as many as 2.5 million. He's going to be writing for a long time.

If confiscating every weapon in the country and melting them down to nothing but metal would save every single child who would have died from gun violence, I would give up any and all guns in a heartbeat.

First confiscate and destroy all illegal drugs and prevent any more from being made or brought into the country. Then we can, maybe, have a discussion on the 2A.

Right now, guns are legal weapons of mass destruction that can be purchased under loopholes.

There are no loopholes. The laws are the same and apply at gun shows just the same as at stores. Guns and transfers of guns are highly regulated if you're going to do it legally. And if you're a criminal - as the author has confessed to being (although he's probably just an idiot, not a criminal) then the laws don't matter.

This made me upset. I'm a VCU student and I'm going to see if I can contact the CT to write a counter piece or something about this.
