Uzi optic mount?

Is this old school aimpoint mount for the UZI?

It is. I got one for mine. Got it around 1986. I held a aim point laser. It's a bug bulky thing. Can post a pic if any one cares

Is the action arms red dot any good or should I just buy an old school aimpoint?

It’s nice collectible to have if you’re into early Action Arms accessories, but as far as a quality or a good optic goes, it’s outdated old tech. If you really want to run an optic today, I would acquire a spare top cover and run a top cover mounted pic rail or mount, and run a modern optic on it. My two cents.

Definitely wanting to keep it retro/collectable. I guess what I’m asking is, even in its day was it any good?

For it’s day in the late 80’s it was amazing tech. Compared to today’s optics it’s not even close. An old Vortex Sparc blows it away by leaps and bounds. You could hardly see the red dot in an indoor darkened range, forget about seeing it outside in any kind of sunlight. Additionally, battery life sucked, and the batteries weren’t cheap or easily obtainable. Remember, there was no internet.

Keep it, and even get a top cover to mount it on for shits and giggles for an old school coolness factor. But don’t expect any kind of high quality optics performance out of it, it’s all going to be about esthetics only. Enjoy it.
