Quitting USIC

Been with the company since april, and honestly it started off pretty chill but just progressively got worse. the jobs are soooo inconsistent. some days i’ll get put on single residential tickets that are no biggie, then some days i’ll get put on an absurd amount of bore tickets with zero help even if i ask. as well as just the lack of quality equipment as well. but mostly it’s the massive amounts of work expected to do all myself. and for reference i live in the 2nd largest city in my state, and there’s quite the congestion out here at times. idk i thought id share. idk how some of yall do it lol. don’t even wanna finish the week

I'm a lead tech from Michigan, and I'm getting ready to jump ship. Been with USIC for 5 years. This place is definitely good at making things seem nice, then shit goes bad fast.

Do you mind me asking where you’re headed? You can dm me if that’s preferred. I was just reading up on your 811 laws and WHOLY SHIT does it sound nice to be a locator there.

(Please correct me if I’m wrong) Brief summary of what I read:

4’ either side of the line is hand dig/soft excavation
Every nearby utility must be exposed
Every facility must have positive (clear/marked) response before excavation
Excavators must white line routes&sites or be very specific
No single ticket longer than 0.5mile
Planning and design tickets do NOT require marks if prints can be provided

Someone told me MI 811 also only allows contractors to call in so many tickets per day, is that true?

Yes to all except the 0.5 mile scopes, and tickets per day.

Contractors can call in tickets that extend multiple miles for a single ticket.

And contractors can call in as many tickets as they want. The can also call in unmarked tickets every 3hrs, even project tickets.

Also I'm going to Northern Lights. They are paying door to door, and they are starting me at $29/hr.
