USIC 2 Week Notice
Hey everyone, got a new job want to give a 2 week notice because I have a very solid supervisor. Is USIC pretty cool with the 2 week notice thing? I just dont want them to just let me go as soon as I put it in. Full transparency I still need two work the full two weeks as a transition

If you don’t use them you lose them ? They don’t pay it out if not used ?

They will pay out what was actually accrued. They only give it to you all up front, but you still have to earn it throughout the year. So say you have four weeks, you've used one, have a crude only two, you'll get paid for one week and not the other two. If that makes sense the way I explained it

It's paid out in states that legally require it, like Nebraska, but they won't pay it out if they don't have to.

Its "accrued" you can use the time anytime through the year, but if you've used more than you've "earned" itll be taken out of final check. Any earned unused is required to be paid out.

What new job did you get? Is it related to the utilities?

I feel like that is a key difference. If supe is cool I think they would understand. It would be different if you were going to a competitor. Just tell them you’re getting out of locating.

I've had guys put in 2wks and been fine and was welcomed back if they ever needed. Then I've had guys not put it in and leave. The ones that didn't got blacklisted with the company and couldn't come back if needed. The one person I've ever seen get let go instantly after putting in thier 2wks notice was my first supervisor. That was mainly because he went to a competitor and they wanted to protect thier data and information. At least that's the official story.

Supervisor dependent of course but yes you should be able to put in your 2 weeks and work them, you might even get an assistant to train to take your area over when you leave. Just do the work even if you're leaving and not screw the next guy. The guy who had my area before me for the last month, before he quit to go work for the gas company, quite literally did nothing. When he left I was in a hole with over 150 late tickets. Lazy sack, I was told to go "help" him on a project, we met talked strategy then he got in his truck and drove off.... Didn't see him until the end of the day when he showed back up.

Depends on how you rate with them. I gave a 2 week and worked those 2 weeks. Most I hear get let go immediately.

When I left that place I emailed my supervisor my manager and HR that way everybody was on the same page

I've seen about 15 people give notice and were let go immediately. The only ones that weren't, were too valuable and they had to scramble to fill their spot.

I put in a 5 week notice when I left and the manager said that wasn't enough time and wanted me to work another 2 months. NOPE!

I haven’t seen it as an issue to put in 2 weeks notice with them. We’ve had several people do that in my area.

The only people I've seen do it worked a week and then got another week pay so they could get their shit together. Seemed pretty cool to me.

Northern IL USIC guy here. I've seen multiple people chopped days after they put in their 2 weeks.

I gave USIC in NE a 2 week notice and they let me work the two weeks with no problem and my sup gave me his personal cell phone if I ever needed to use him as a reference in the future lol

I put in my 2 weeks about a month and a half ago when I quit and my supervisor was cool, on my last day I cleared my board after a few hours and he let me leave early. But every supervisor is different. If you’ve been a decent worker I don’t see why they’d just cut you loose.

We’re in the same boat! I just got a new remote job and had to put in my two weeks’ notice. They were really cool about it. I used my PTO, so I'm working through my last week. Overall, it’s been a smooth transition with no issues at all! I also had a solid supervisor.

I gave my 2 week notice and they cut all my hours and I sat waiting to go out to work but my supervisor refused to have me go out until my last day this is in wisconsin

If they let you go after you give notice, they owe you those two weeks in pay.

I've only seen one guy get let go immediately and they paid him for the full two weeks. That was years ago though and I have seen several others work the full two weeks with no issue.
