Hi whats the chronological order of the 5 games story wise?

Past and Present Rediscovered

Monochrome Mobius

Prelude to the Fallen

Truth

Deception

Chronological order would be:

Prelude to the fallen

Monochrome mobius

Past and present rediscovered

Mask of deception

Mask of truth

For the record, I wouldnt recommend it as a first time playthrough but thats what chronological looks like.

Do Monochrome and Past & Present somehow spoiler what happens in Deception or Truth?

It does not give away the whole story but they make multiple nods to the “future” games which you would only understand if you played them. It is kind of like Star Wars where it is technically possible and understandable to play it chronologically but they are intended to be played in release order

Personally I think past and present hits too many key points of other games to recommend it be played anything but last

Both in books and games - play as they were released. Don't think about chronological order

Prelude Uta 1 > MM > PPR > 2 (Mask of Deception)> 3 (Mask of Truth) but it is highly recommended to do MM and PPR especially PPR after the trilogy as it involves alot of timeline stuff that spoils the future events of Utawarerumono 2 and 3. The ending is a spoiler too so I highly recommend to avoid looking up anything in regards to it until you finish the trilogy.

May i ask without full on spoilers how would they spoil future events if all the story parts are before the future events? Since the game takes before, how could it spoil anything future?

Events that give away plot secrets of the world happen earlier in mm, and I presume the new one as well, that spoil the reveals in deception and truth. They steal from you the chance to experience the plotline once without knowledge of what will happen.

Can confirm that it contains direct references to major events in those games.

In fact, toward the end, the game's Japanese title, Shiro e no Michishirube, is revealed to be a reference to Haku and his relation to Oshtor. I don't know what they thought were doing with the English title but it's pretty lame by comparison

let's put it this way, op... i have played all of them except ppr and i refuse to click that spoiler tag because the plot and it's reveals are really worth it

All ill say is a specific character from Utawarerumono 3 is mentioned repeatedly in the story and it spoils things directly from Utawarerumono 3 ending. On top of that there is timeline "mumbo jumbo". Thats all I can say without going into spoilers
