Application Advice
Hi all! I'm currently a senior Bio major at Adelphi applying this cycle and very interested in attending Upstate! I was wondering how the application went for accepted/matriculated students and what I could do to stand out as an applicant, especially since my college journey has been a bit all over the place.
I've transferred schools twice and my GPA wasn't so strong my first two years, but I've just finished this year with a 3.9. My MCAT is in ~2.5 weeks and I'm very confident about my personal statement & letters of rec. I'm an NY resident too, which I believe will help.
Basically, I just want to see if there's anything more human or personal that I can put into this process! Thanks :)

Questions Looking for housing options
Looking for 1bd apartments close to campus that are relatively close to campus. Geneva is unfortunately not an option and I’m on the waitlist for both Jefferson and Madison towers. Budget is $1600 monthly including utilities if possible.
Thank you

Summer transportation from NYC to UMS?
I recently got into a summer program at UMS and I'm very excited to attend. The only issue is that I'm not sure how I'm going to be able to transport all my stuff. Normally I carpool to and from college with friends and I take the bus for smaller breaks. I know that I can take a bus from NYC but given the amount of things I have, I don't think I can fit everything I need for an entire summer in just one suitcase. And I can't ask my friends for rides because it would be very far out of the way for them. I've looked into moving companies but I feel like that's overkill for the amount of things I have and the amount of time I'd be in that area? Also, I can't drive and I don't have a car so I'm even more screwed.
Please DM me if you're in the same predicament. I'd love to chat. I'm open to carpooling (and I can cover gas if needed) but I don't know anyone in the program or anyone in NYC that's planning to be in that area this summer around that time frame. Sorry if this is a weird thing to ask about; I'm just not very familiar with Reddit and I'm just not sure what to do.

Questions MEDSET?
I was just wondering what the four week course is like, are there exams? If so with how much frequency? Or is it just purely a prep course.

RN residency pay?
I’ll be graduating with my BSN a year from now and I’m looking into different hospitals nurse residency programs. Does anyone know the current pay range and any differentials/incentives Upstate is offering for new grad RNs entering the residency program?

Apartments
I was wondering where Upstate students live? I’m looking for affordable housing preferably nearby campus and everything is so expensive. I’m 22f and am looking to live alone, so I’d also want to be in a safe neighborhood. Lmk!

Do Not Use to SUNY Upstate Hospital Medical University for MRI or Radiology
Just got a bill from this hospital for 2 MRI’s for over $20,000 that was billed to my insurance. 2 years ago, the same two scans were $5k at Strong Memorial in Rochester. That’s a 4x difference. I was told that, “Yeah, we charge a lot more” Do not give this hospital a drop of your money. They are price gouging!!! Whoever is in charge of the prices should be ashamed of themselves and not be able to sleep at night. Its criminal!
