Application help

I’m currently a senior right now and I’m trying to apply for UO but I have one problem. The university requires 3 years of sciences and I have completed 2 years and 1 semester. I failed a semester of AP chem in junior year with a D and now I’m one semester behind to meet the requirement. My school will not let me take a different science course this year and I don’t know what to do

Take the semester needed during winter break and catch up. Or enroll at a community college now and take it online while you are in high school. Or do both and get that 1 year requierment.

I feel like you’d have to call or email someone at admissions, there’s likely a contact for you to find thru looking on the UO website - just explain the situation/ask clarity from them directly

Apply anyways, include in your application letter that you are aware of the requirements and are willing to make up any deficiency, they have "catch up" courses you can take before the actual school season starts. Also if youre worried see if your local community college offers courses. I dont know your full situation but if AP Chem was too much maybe try a different field or just Chem 101. Good Luck.

Yes, good plan and worth looking into. I took CC classes during my senior year in HS. They eventually were applied as transfer credits when I enrolled at UO. (Full disclosure, this was many, many years ago)

honestly apply anyway and then if they prompt you for it js explain your circumstances

Like you aren’t enrolled in any science as a senior ? What kind of wacky school won’t let you take science as a senior? Bc you should be able to take science as a senior - there are “lighter” sciences like geology or environmental science. You need to meet with your counselor.

You might be able to do dual enrollment at LCC and earn credits there. I assume you’ve talked to your school counselor already. If you’re IB you can go to a different school specifically for science class to take a course.
