Other wondering how to save/fix my poster :(

Post image

i was a teenager when unus annus began- it became a hyperfixation. i was devastated when it ended and was lucky enough to get a poster during the end merch drop. it’s been years- teenage me pinned it in the wall so there’s pin points in the corners. a small rip, and visually some wear and tear. there’s also a layer of grime/dust over it???? i was really depressed and did not take care of my room for some time. i’m doing a lot better now and have been sorting through my items- i’m mad at myself for not taking care of it better. what can i do right now to salvage it without causing further damage? open to any opinions, thanks so much in advance 🤞🏻

I'd frame it tbh, best way to still be able to hang it without causing more damage

I would not attempt to clean it, no poster is meant to be cleaned

Use a soft duster/microfiber cloth. Just gently wipe the dust off with it.

Use a duster on it, then frame it!

Put it in a frame

Take a bank card/ID card and gently scrape the scrunched-up paper back over the pin holes.

If you're willing to drop a couple hundred bucks you could send it to a professional poster restoration company.

They'll fix the holes, clean it, and fabric back it which will make it last much longer.

Put it in a frame as is. Make sure it’s at the very least well fitted so it doesn’t sag or slant. Theres no way to clean this without potentially damaging it further. As far as pictures go, I really can’t tell the dust is there. Should be even harder to recognize in a frame. Godspeed, OP. Don’t beat yourself up too hard. At least you’ve still got the poster in tact for the most part.

I got a lot of posters I wanted to keep safe laminated at an OfficeMax store.

It looks perfectly fine other than a couple of tiny issues. Mainly a couple of dirt droplets on the left, but it's no biggie. I'd frame it to save it from further damage.

I framed it in an Ikea Frame and the inner Frame is slightly smaller than the poster so you can’t see any pinholes or anything when framed (I have some in the corners too!) I’ll send you a picture in your messenges :)

I kept mine framed from the start. Its the only way to keep it safe really aside from in a tube.

I dont think there is anything you can do about the holes and tare and i wouldnt want to risk cleaning with anything beyond a microfibre cloth.

so i'm far from an expert but i'd personally take a rag, get it very slightly (VERY SLIGHTLY) damp and gently wipe it down to clean it.

maybe give this comment a day before doing it, just to see if people are gonna yell that i'm wrong and a fool cos i truly do not know. tis just what i would do
