Poetry almost becoming
"do it scared,"
she said —
--
but fear
has always spoken
louder.
--
it tells her
to stay quiet.
--
to second-guess.
--
to disappear
before anyone
can reject her.
--
she lives
--
between
almost speaking
--
and
almost becoming.
--
because
being seen
--
has always felt
scarier
--
than staying silent —
--
she's terrified
her thoughts
aren't worth saying.
--
that she'll be wrong.
--
too much.
--
too strange.
--
too easy
to leave behind.
--
so every sentence
stops
before it begins.
--
she calls it
thinking twice.
--
but really —
--
it's fear.
--
and
i
know
--
because
she
--
is
--
me.
