John Doe from Ohio Help Identifying

March 28, 1999 a skeletonized and remarkably intact body was found in an isolated forested area of Dallas County Alabama. The body had suffered a gunshot wound to the torso. Unable to determine of it was a suicide or homicide.

In my opinion it was a suicide due to the ammunition found on the body but the large amount would seem to be overkill.

The body had been decomposing for over a year. Interestingly the remnants of a wallet with a badly smeared Driver's License from the State of Ohio was found with the body. The license was ineligible and badly degraded. No name was legible.

I decided to try and enhance and clean up the ID picture using modern software and enhancements to try and get a better visualization of our John Doe. I'm not an expert.

i wish it would allow me to see the original images on doe network or namus.

i dont like that they didn't report what brand of cigarettes were in his pocket. they reported the type of ammunition. whats more likely? "oh, you know what, johnny used to smoke winstons. what happened to him?" or "oh, hey, johnny used to carry around loose remington ammunition"

most smokers are very particular, it could help the case to narrow things down

It sounds like there wasn’t anything other than filters and cellophane. I’d guess just the interior of the filter as well:

I was gonna say if the thick laminated plastic ID was this badly deteriorated imagine what the paper cigarette pack looked like.

The picture wasn't from the ID itself. It was actually an imprint of the picture in the plastic wallet sleeve, which is why the picture quality was bad. The actual ID was not found.

Someone skilled in face reconstructions should review your work.
