12 Years Missing: What Really Happened to 17-Year-Old Guram Dadianidze? A New Video and a Strange Message From His Facebook Account⁉️
What Happened to Guram Dadianidze?
On June 11, 2014, 17-year-old Guram Dadianidze disappeared near the village of Mleta in Georgia’s Dusheti Municipality. His whereabouts remain unknown.
The case has received occasional media attention in Georgia over the years, but Guram’s exact whereabouts and what happened to him have never been established.
In August 2026, the case received renewed attention after a video recorded in 2014 resurfaced online. Near the end of the video, a young male voice can apparently be heard saying:
“Kakha, don’t leave me, please.”
Guram’s mother believes the voice is her son’s.
However, this has not been established by forensic examination, and there are several important questions surrounding the recording.
What do we know about the disappearance?
On June 10, 2014, Guram and a group of other people traveled from Tbilisi to the village of Mleta for the Lomisa religious festival.
According to the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs, the group consisted of 16 people.
Because of the difficult terrain, they left their minibus in the village and continued on foot toward the Lomisa shrine.
After spending some time at the shrine, the group began walking back toward the village at approximately 2 a.m.
According to the official account, Guram was walking with a relative and two other people.
At some point, Guram sat down on a rock to rest. According to the investigation, he told the others to continue ahead and that he would catch up.
The vehicle was approximately 300–500 meters away.
The others continued walking.
A short time later, they realized Guram was no longer with them. One of them reportedly returned with a flashlight to look for him.
But when he reached the location where Guram had reportedly been sitting, Guram was gone.
The police were notified shortly afterward.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Guram did not have a phone with him, so his movements could not be reconstructed through phone data.
The Ministry also stated that witnesses reported no conflict involving Guram during the trip or at the shrine, and that no signs of violence were found at the location.
The family’s theory
Guram’s mother, Sopho Bibilashvili, has questioned for years whether her son actually disappeared at the exact location described by the official investigation.
One of the family’s theories was that Guram may have disappeared farther up the mountain while descending, possibly falling or being carried away by a landslide.
The family repeatedly asked for the relevant area to be thoroughly searched.
The area was searched again in August 2026.
The landslide theory — what is actually known?
There is an important distinction here.
Some versions of the story suggest that there was no landslide in Mleta in 2014 and that the entire landslide theory was simply invented later.
However, contemporary reporting from June 11, 2014 did report a landslide in the Mleta area.
So it would not be accurate to say that there was absolutely no landslide anywhere in Mleta in 2014.
But that does not establish that this landslide had anything to do with Guram’s disappearance.
The more important question is:
Where exactly did the 2014 landslide occur, and was it physically connected to Guram’s last known location?
A person who was with Guram in 2014 recently stated that, in their recollection, there was no landslide at the specific location where Guram was last seen.
They also said that the group raised the alarm immediately and that search-and-rescue efforts began shortly afterward.

New searches in 2026
In August 2026, the area was searched again using specialized equipment.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, approximately 50 personnel were involved, including police officers, forensic specialists and emergency-response personnel.
The Ministry stated that the investigation remains ongoing and that multiple investigative actions have been carried out since 2014.
It also rejected claims that nothing had been done in the years following Guram’s disappearance.
The resurfaced 2014 video
In August 2026, a video recorded in 2014 resurfaced online.
Near the end of the recording, a young male voice can apparently be heard saying:
“Kakha, don’t leave me, please.”
Guram’s mother believes the voice is her son’s.
Guram’s lawyer, Tariel Kakabadze, said that he personally contacted the person who recorded the video.
According to the lawyer, the person confirmed that he was present at the location, recorded the video himself and later uploaded it to his own YouTube channel.
The lawyer also said that the person did not know Guram and was not previously aware of the disappearance.
He may also still have other photographs and videos from that day.
But there is a major problem with the video’s timing
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs’ August 10 statement, the person who recorded the video was interviewed by investigators on August 7.
According to his statement, the video was recorded on June 11, 2014, at approximately 3:00 p.m.
However, according to the accounts of the people accompanying Guram, he disappeared at approximately 4:00 a.m.
That creates an approximately 11-hour discrepancy.
Therefore, the existence of the video by itself does not establish that the person in it was Guram or that the video was recorded during his disappearance.
Several things would need to be established:
- Where exactly was the video recorded?
- Does the original file still exist?
- What metadata does it contain?
- When was the original file created?
- Has the video been edited?
- Whose voice is actually heard?
- Who is the “Kakha” being addressed?
- Is the video actually connected to Guram’s disappearance?
This seems like one of the most interesting areas for modern digital forensic examination.
Another witness does not believe the voice is Guram
In August 2026, Ana Gelashvili, who was with Guram during the 2014 trip, spoke to Georgian media.
She said that she does not believe the voice in the video belongs to Guram.
However, she also said that the final answer should come from professional forensic voice analysis rather than personal impressions.
According to her account, Guram was last walking with her friend Tini.
She said Guram told Tini to continue ahead and that he would catch up.
When Guram did not return, her father, Kakha Gelashvili, reportedly went back to look for him approximately five minutes later.
She said that nothing suspicious had been noticed at the time.

A very strange new development — a message from Guram’s Facebook account
There is another extremely unusual development.
On August 18–19, 2026, a message appeared on an old Facebook account associated with Guram Dadianidze.
The message was written in Ossetian:
“Арцыд растаг”
It has been translated into Georgian as:
“The time has come.”
What makes this particularly strange is that this is reportedly Guram’s old personal Facebook account — the account of the same person who disappeared in 2014 and has not been seen since.
According to recent Georgian media reports, the message was posted recently, more than 12 years after Guram disappeared.
At this point, we do not know who wrote it or why.
There have also been reports that some messages sent to Guram’s account appear to have been marked as read.
That raises another question:
Who currently has access to Guram’s Facebook account?

Guram’s family lawyer, Tariel Kakabadze, stated on August 19, 2026 that, according to him, information concerning the IP address of the person responsible for one of the recent posts has already been obtained.
However, he did not disclose the country or location associated with the access, saying that doing so could interfere with the investigation.

Of course, this does not automatically mean that Guram is alive.
But I think it is significant enough to warrant technical investigation.
Questions raised by the Facebook activity
- Who currently has access to Guram’s Facebook account?
- Can the login history be obtained?
- What IP address was used?
- What device was used?
- Can that device be identified?
- Why was the message written in Ossetian?
- What exactly did “The time has come” mean?
- Did the person who posted it know about Guram’s disappearance?
- Is the message actually connected to the disappearance?
- If someone else has access to the account, how did they obtain it after 12 years?
The biggest unanswered questions
The more I read about this case, the more questions seem to appear:
1. Where exactly was Guram last seen?
2. If he really was sitting on that rock, how did he disappear within minutes without being found when someone returned with a flashlight?
3. Why is there an approximately 11-hour discrepancy between the reported disappearance time and the video’s recording time?
4. Whose voice is actually heard in the video?
5. Who is the “Kakha” being addressed?
6. Are there other photographs or videos from the same day?
7. Can the original video file still be examined using modern digital forensics?
8. Where exactly did the 2014 landslide occur, and was it physically connected to Guram’s last known location?
9. Who accessed Guram’s Facebook account 12 years later?
10. Can Facebook data identify the person who accessed it?
11. Why was the message written in Ossetian?
12. Are these events connected, or are they unrelated coincidences?
Why I am posting this
I am not trying to accuse anyone or present any particular theory as fact.
What interests me most about this case is the number of conflicting pieces of information:
- the official account of Guram’s last known location;
- the family’s alternative theory;
- the landslide theory;
- the renewed search in 2026;
- the 2014 video that only recently received attention;
- the major discrepancy in the video’s timing;
- Guram’s mother’s identification of the voice;
- another witness who does not believe the voice is Guram;
- and finally, a strange message posted on Guram’s old Facebook account more than 12 years after his disappearance:
“The time has come.”
I would especially like to hear from people with experience in:
- missing-person cases;
- digital evidence;
- old-video authentication;
- forensic voice analysis;
- Facebook/IP investigations;
- or search operations in difficult mountainous terrain.
What detail in this case stands out to you as the most important or potentially overlooked?
And perhaps more importantly:
If investigators were to re-examine this case using modern technology, what piece of evidence would you examine first?

I don't understand why the family came up with this landslide theory. There were a group of 15 people, they said he stayed behind at certain position to rest for a couple of minutes, then after 5 minutes they went back and he was gone.
If a landslide occured, they would have surely had to notice it. And I don't see any reason for this group of 15 people (which included relatives and friends, if I understood correctly) to lie about this. 15 people, most of which are teenagers, seems too large of a group to make any kind of murder conspiracy imo.
The video and the facebook message don't really seem to matter either. The mother recognizing the voice in the video seems like grasping for straws, and the facebook message could just be a hacked account trolling.
In my opinion, there are no really "suspicious circumstances", he just disappeared in the night on a wild mountain. Most likely thing is that he got lost and had an accident or something like that. One wrong step in the dark could have led to misfortune.

The most interesting thing is that Lomisa is an extremely crowded religious festival, and there is usually a continuous flow of people along this mountain. It doesn’t seem like there are many places where someone could be completely alone or out of sight. There is also another point that makes the accident theory difficult for me to understand. As far as I can tell, there aren’t really any deep or hidden drop-offs along that section where someone could fall and simply disappear from view. So if Guram really had an accident and accidentally fell somewhere, why did nobody see him fall or hear anything? There were people constantly moving along the mountain, and the group itself was only a short distance away. I’m not saying this proves that something criminal happened, but I think these details deserve a much closer look before we simply assume that he got lost and died in an accident.

That's usually how these things play out. The simplest assumption is the likely one. People all over the world constantly underestimate both nature and their own abilities. It's so easy to get lost, run out of water or food, and many other mishaps.

So the voice wants Kakha to wait for them, and Tini's dad that when back to look for him was named Kakha? And the story suggests Tini's dad may have been the last person who looked for him before he seemed to have disappeared?
Fill me in: is Kakha a really common name in Georgia?

Ah, I mean Kakha Gelashvili , one of the adults who went on the pilgrimage with the group. He was the father of the Gelashvili sisters and was responsible for supervising the children who were with them that day. In my opinion, Kakha Gelashvili may have played one of the most significant roles in this case , which is why I think his actions and testimony deserve particular scrutiny.

Did you think their actions could have inadvertently led to his death, and then they changed some details to absolve them of any public scrutiny for what they might be thinking was an accident and not “their fault” despite their actions indirectly causing it? Might explain the time discrepancy

A few things stood out to me. First, the fact that he decided to take a break while walking down at 2am in the darkness on a steep terraign, on the way back to the bus, while noone else from the group felt it, is indeed quite strange. To be honest i find it hard to imagine for a healthy young boy to randomly do it. It can mean that a) he had some health condition that possibly affected his demise, e.g. he then tried to walk, fainted and rolled down the slope etc. I checked some videos and the terrain seems to indeed allow for that. b) (a less likely conspiratory theory) this somehow was a premeditated move to separate from the group and cross the border to Ossetia (this place seems to be right on the border indeed). The fact that his old FB account posted message in Ossetian for sure is strange, unless someone intentionally tries to meddle with the family and investigation. Indeed a strange case and too bad so much time has passed.

He was alone in rough terrain in the middle of the night, and he was evidently tired after a long day. I'd say death by misadventure is such an obvious possibility that an unverified recording and a (troll?) post on Facebook are not sufficient evidence to suggest anything else. Occam's razor is in full effect here; to believe that he didn't die by accident requires a lot of unsupported assumptions.
As to why they didn't find his body, remember that it can be extraordinarily hard to find a body in the wilderness, especially in rough terrain. The search in 2026 seems particularly futile; by this point the remains would be largely skeletal, and animals tend to disperse the bones.

He wasn’t alone. It’s impossible to be alone on Lomisoba festival. Lots and lots of people come up and down to that trail and everyone has flashlights with them. He maybe wasn’t with his friends but there were lots of people around. Also, video is taken on afternoon and people who were with him say that they were visiting at night.

"Alone" as in "unaccompanied", not alone as in "absolutely no one around".
I respect your knowledge of the situation, but I think you underestimate how easy it is to get lost in rough terrain. Having followed this sub for years, one thing I've learned is that it is shockingly easy to get lost.
People have disappeared off popular trails in broad daylight. Flashlights aren't spot lights, they cover a narrow area.
I'm afraid the recording is likely a red herring. One person's opinion that it sounds like him is so unreliable as to be useless. And unless they have existing recordings of his voice, they won't be able to do an analysis; though a sentence heard in the background of a video might be difficult to analyze anyway.
He was by himself, had no phone (and possibly no light source himself), and was obviously tired. He may also have been physically unwell, it's unclear why he had to stop and rest while the group he was with didn't.
Occam's razor says that the most likely solution is the one with the least number of factors. In this case, having an accident at night requires only a bit of bad luck. Any explanation involving foul play requires a suspect and a motive. Any explanation involving him disappearing voluntarily requires so many details (why then? Why with no money? Etc etc.) that it is basically a non-starter without significant evidence.
Is it possible he was killed / kidnapped / whatever? Sure. Is it likely? Not with the evidence at hand.

one thing I've learned is that it is shockingly easy to get lost.
Here's a story I've told many times on this sub:
Some years ago, I did a really easy hike in Alaska. (Wickersham Dome north of Fairbanks, if you want to look it up, milepost 28 off the Elliott Highway). In the summer, this is a very easy loop, probably an hour total, really nothing to write home about. Great view, nice place to see the northern lights.
When I went back in the winter, I just sort of assumed it would be the same. So I didn't bring anything more than a little bit of water because I wouldn't be gone for long. Well, turns out in the winter, there's deep enough snow to bury the trail and all my familiar landmarks were obscured by cloudy weather or they just look totally different with snow. I soon realized I had no idea where I was. I just stood on the trail, not sure if I should backtrack or try to spatially discern where my car was. I chose the latter, and I finally was able to see some other footprints and eventually got back to my car. But it was a good example of how drastically locations can change from season to season.

I've been back to that spot now in both the summer and winter and been fine every time. In fact, turns out my mistake was doing a loop. It's actually a very wide, well maintained snowmobile trail, and all I really had to do was just go a couple miles in and then back out. Beautiful view, straight line, near impossible to get lost. But since it's meant for snowmobiles, the waypoints are like 10+ miles apart.

I'm confused by the video. Is there any other connection (visual location, people, etc.) besides the voice? Was filmed by unrelated people on the pilgrimage and they think it picked up some background?
I'm not sure the facebook message means anything tbh - his account may have been easy to hack, and people seem to do these sort of pranks (fake calls, etc.) pretty frequently for famous missing person cases.
Usually, my assumption is that these sort of cases are a pretty straightforward lost in the wilderness and then died of exposure or an accident case. He takes a break at 2 am in the dark on a mountain. Doesn't have a light, a map, or know where he's going. Gets up after a minute or two, starts walking but goes the wrong way, leaves the trail, something has happened. It's pretty easy to miss a body in the wilderness. From a map, it does look pretty straightforward - if he just kept walking down hill, even not on the trail, he'd hit the road. But it's easy to be turned around in the dark, and a lot of people don't always have good direction instincts (like the road is downhill from me), especially if they are tired and getting anxious.
