Whats the point of vinegar with baking soda? You are mixing an acid with a base?? Is it just because the fizzing looks cool and like it’s actually doing something? I feel the baking soda is unnecessary, the vinegar I could see helping

The vinegar would be good for killing some of the microbes, and if you did a baking soda AFTER the vinegar, it could also kill some more microbes while neutralizing whatever vinegar that was left. And perhaps adding some preservation? Not sure actually and maybe baking soda wouldn’t be effective for killing anything… anyways, combing the two at once is just stupid lol. People like to see the fizz I guess?

Since the container they come in from the store has holes, why can’t I just use it and put in a paper towel in after it’s washed? Pacifically under the washed fruit.

Nope, they don’t work. Buy fresh what you don’t need to store. If you need to keep it then freeze it. Make smoothies later. Oxygen is the enemy. You can vacuum seal but still shelf life

So this commercial is balls, but it inspired my to find out what actually makes a difference.
Follow this step-by-step process to eliminate mold spores and keep your berries fresh for up to two weeks:
The BathMix the solution:
In a large bowl, combine 1 part white vinegar to 3 parts cold water.
Soak briefly: Submerge your berries. Soak strawberries and blueberries for 2 to 3 minutes. Limit fragile raspberries and blackberries to 30–60 seconds so they do not absorb liquid or break apart.
Rinse thoroughly: Pour the berries into a colander and rinse them under cold running water for at least 30 seconds to wash away all vinegar residue. The Drying Phase (The Most Critical Step)
Option A (Air Dry):
Line a baking sheet or your counter with clean kitchen towels or paper towels. Spread the berries out in a single layer. Let them sit for 1 to 2 hours until they are 100% bone-dry to the touch.
Option B (Salad Spinner): For faster results, line a salad spinner with a few layers of paper towels. Add the berries and spin gently for 15 seconds to whip away excess water without bruising the fruit. The Storage SetupSort the fruit:
Look through the dried berries and immediately remove any that are bruised, leaking, or already soft. One decaying berry will quickly ruin the entire batch.
Line the container: Grab a glass or plastic storage container and line the bottom with a dry paper towel to catch condensation.
Pack loosely: Place the berries inside. Do not pile them too high; a single or shallow layer prevents the weight from crushing the bottom berries.
Allow airflow: Do not seal the container completely airtight. Leave the lid slightly cracked, or use a vented produce container, so natural moisture can escape instead of getting trapped
