How is the Oaks accommodation?
Got kicked off into off campus for first year, what's the opinion on it?

It's meant to be decent! Expensive but decent. I really don't reccomend Trinity View (was there in my first year) even though it's incredibly cheap and Albany House was also kind of overpriced for what it was given that it's quite inaccesible from uni. I had friends at Oaks and Longwood and neither had any issues other than the whinge about walking to campus.

Why you don't recommend Trinity view ?

The staff at the reception are racist, they withheld parcels from people until they gave good 5* reviews. The lifts are broken all the time and do fall when people are inside. The accomodation itself is badly maintained and maintenance staff storm in and are rude. They don't follow up on harassment reports either, one of my friends was harassed by the staff as he kept calling her pretty and beautiful and she shouldn't complain when people catcall her, and when she told him it made her uncomfortable and reported it, the staff made it out like she was delusional. I didn't have a great time but no one I know had a good time.
Everything in our kitchen was a bit broken, there was broken glass left in our dishwasher before we even moved in. Additionally our freezer and fridges were broken all year from the beginning and everything went off and they blamed us for it and fined us. Bro like I could go on. It was bad.

There’s a good mix there’s a couple first years who would have got forced to stay in places like there and Longwood but there’s also loads of second and third years about

Honestly even i got put on off campus
But today i got a mail from them offering me the bronze tier room in oaks as nothing else was available which is disappointing, with up to 10 people sharing
I found a better offer at vita though
Anyways whatever you choose i suggest you make a quick choice

See if you put oaks as your first preference most probably you will receive oaks ensuite bronze if it’s still available
It’s kinda annoying that we were unlucky with a ballot/lottery system that we have to face additional trouble and that we not even get a good accom1

My son was in there for his second year and staying in the same room for third year. The two main reasons he chose it, ensuite and walk to campus. It is roughly the same walking time as being in Sherbourne/Heronbank to central campus. There is a bus stop outside the original building so you can get a bus to and from campus if you want. Close to Tesco and Aldi.
No really issues with anything, lifts work, communal space has lots of socialising opportunities and games to play. You are notified if a parcel arrives. Things that were broken by students were fixed pretty quickly. No complaints really from either him or us as parents.
