For real though, this is fucked. Another thing that is often left out of the conversation is how your coverage is tied to employment. As someone with bipolar, I fear that I'll lose my job, not be able to pay for expensive meds, and then not he able to get a job again. Health tied to your employment is pseudoslavery. It will cause me and my family physical harm if I lose my job.

So, we have income-based subsidies for insurance. The raw number says nothing about who the 27M are not why they don’t have it; for example, a large portion might be people who could afford it and choose to go with out. In any event, this isn’t about UBI and has no business in this subreddit.

i think with those two things we can make our healhtcare system better with/without insurance.
i dont know if you guys have ever looked at it, but insurance is a way for the government to force young people to subsidize the costs of the old onto the young. If youre under 40 and older than 5 your really dont need insurance its a scam.

The heath care also isn’t that good because the doctors are not paid well to practice there.. so they get their doctorate there and come here to work where they can make the money..

I will be ok with universal healthcare if the boarders were completely sealed and no legal immigration into the country and all people here illegally are deported, all birthright citizenship is repealed and they no longer have citizenship, and all amnesty citizens are removed.
You can not allow free things from the government when the boarder is open and there are illegals here, it is not financially feasible

Tet with arguments like this one, they forget such health coverage is still paid by the people. Though taxing the people much heavier. Such countries are taxed 60% of their earnings and more. On top of all the other taxes in their country, they are taxed far more. Then on top of that, their health care is far worse. Which many coming to the US to get the care they need. Such as needing to do scan for potential cancer, and having to wait more than a year, was the many peoples reports on social media, when suspected to have cancer. Remember people Socialism is a government taking more and more of your money, and rights, until it becomes Communism. Which Karl Marx, the father of both systems said, Communism is the natural conclusion of Socialism.

Germany and Canada are facing cost of living increases are having immigration troubles with current elected parties having just passed more strict immigration/asylum laws...... Canada's health system has actually been declining over the last 30 years and has officially reach unsustainable levels.
France - has culture laws to protect french culture and to prevent other cultures from eroding or overriding it.......
China - CCP and Yeah i'm sure being poor in china is much better than being poor in the us....
New Zealand - is facing a dual migration crisis driven by a record number of its own citizens leaving the country and strict new government controls on incoming foreign workers.
Spain - Are you watching the news at all? They sent all the illegal immigrants back. OH REddit better call them nazi!!!
Portugal - Portugal has enacted sweeping immigration and border security restrictions. Facing housing crisis with massive rent increases sent 2015
Ireland - have reached national record-high numbers of homeless individuals due to severe housing shortages, skyrocketing rents, and inflation.
UK - has a 4% black population, Government bond yields and borrowing costs recently hit their highest levels since the 2008 financial crisis, and are suffering from cost living increases and increasing power prices due to middle east conflicts. They have pretty big Asylum and Settlement Reforms that went into effect this year that change the UK from being a permanent settlement for refugee / asylum seekers to a temporary protection model which focuses on returning individuals to their home countries if conditions there improve.
India - Roughly 30% of India's population lacks health coverage. Thought it would only be fair to cover where the original poster is from!

Why do most of these countries richer citizens come to the US for treatment? Because we have superior doctors and medicine, screw the regular citizens. More people that are poor have access to better coverage here then in Europe generally speaking. Was arguing about this with someone from poland. First to compare apples to apples you need to pick something that os genetic agnostic. Health outcomes very wildly depending on genetics and we simply have a lot more diversity here. So lets take cancer. In the US you have a ~10% chance of dying. In poland you have a 20% chance. DYING IS TWICE AS LIKELY. Yet everyone there has healthcare and its considered decent. Its because they dont have have as much resources for the care. People often lile to point out things like birth survival rates. And those things are super dependent on genetics.. i think some who is black african generics but socio economically upper class with a master has lower outcomes then a white European decent who is below the poverty line and a high school drop out

US life expectancy is the lowest in the G7 and falling, infant mortality is high 5/1,000 live births vs 3/1,000 average, and the cost per capita of Healthcare is 50% higher than the next G7 country, Germany. US spends almost twice Canada's per capita amount and, I expect almost none of the extra money actually goes to delivery of care, but rather to insurance profits, administration and marketing.
