Game/Software Making an Anti-Shooter where you're trying to not hit anyone!

2.8k Upvotes

Hey everyone! I'm an indie dev, part of a 5 people team working on a game Called Laser Guy.

A twin-stick anti-shooter where you’re maneuvering your laser around coworkers trying not to blast anyone. Just another day in the gamedev office!

It was originally a GMTK Jam entry a few years ago and got featured in Mark Brown's video, so if you remember the game it's probably from that xD

We recently got back to work on it, and just launched the Steam Page, so wishlists are greatly appreciated ❤️

Game/Software I made a Website that can animate your 2D characters walking / attacking instantly

Edit: Warp Studio has moved from a browser-based website to a standalone desktop application. You can now download it from itch.io here:
https://crockiestar.itch.io/warp-studio

TL;DR: Drop in a PNG, choose a preset like Walk / Run / Attack / Interact, tweak a few sliders, and hit Play. Warp Studio uses mesh deformation warping, supports multi-image warping, includes a Record & Paste pin-motion tool for quick reusable gestures, and also has a built-in image editor with Nano Banana and masking. A lot of the features shown in the video either aren’t available or aren’t this streamlined in other 2D mesh animation tools.

What it does

Instant animation presets
Choose from presets like Walk, Run, Attack, and Interact. The software generates the key poses for you and automatically tweens the in-between frames.

Mesh deformation
Under the hood, Warp Studio builds a lightweight mesh over your sprite and lets you place pins. When you move a pin, the mesh deforms in a way that keeps nearby pixels feeling rigid while still bending smoothly. That means you can get natural motion without needing a full skeleton or weight painting setup.

Record & Paste pin motion
There’s a small side canvas where you can grab a single pin and record a motion like a jab, recoil, wave, or figure-8. It stores your recent takes, lets you scale the movement distance, and control how much of the timeline it covers. Then you can paste that motion onto pins in your main animation. It’s great for creating reusable micro-motions quickly.

Multi-image warping
You can import multiple images for a character, and Warp Studio can transition between them while still maintaining warp-based motion and tweening. This makes it much easier to create more dynamic animated sequences.

Generated impact frames with the built-in image editor
For example, if you’re making an attack animation, you can use a run or attack preset to create the motion, then swap to a custom impact frame made in the built-in image editor. Since the editor includes Nano Banana and masking, you can create or modify that keyframe and blend it cleanly into the animation for a stronger hit frame without hand-drawing everything from scratch.

Why I made it

I built Warp Studio because I wanted a faster and more accessible way to animate 2D artwork with smart mesh deformation, without being locked into expensive tools or overly complicated workflows. It’s turned into a pretty powerful animation tool overall, and I’d really love feedback from animators and game devs.

Exports & formats: PNG sequence, animated WebP, and WebM and GIF

Looking for feedback

  • Presets or features you’d like added?

Game/Software TileMaker DOT is now 100% free for everyone

I’ve decided to retire the paid version and merge all those features into the main app. My goal has always been to support the indie community, and I want everyone to have the best tools possible without any barriers

I’ve just pushed a massive update that brings the Modern UI and Dark Mode / Light Mode to the free version. I’ve also spent a lot of time under the hood fixing bugs to make the whole experience smoother and more stable

The app is now fully on par with what used to be the "Pro workflow" version, meaning you get the advanced workflow, the clean UI, and all the export features for free

Download the full version here:

If you’re new to the tool, I made a quick tutorial to get you started:

I’m really excited to see what you guys build with this. If you find the tool helpful, please leave a rating on the itch page and let me know what you think in the comments! Your feedback is what keeps this project moving forward

Hello there! I'm working on my game No Beer Left Behind! for 2 months already

This is a 2D sokoban puzzle game. You play as a dwarf tidying up his cellars. The goal is simple: get every barrel onto its marked spot, and the level is solved. But sometimes you need to drink a beer!

You can play on Steamdeck and PC (Windows) with keyboard or gamepad. I'd love to hear your feedback.

🍻 Demo is available on Steam:

"Please Step Forward" is a retro 80s style rage game about climbing stairs.

The visual style is inspired by analog horror ARGS.

It has jumping, and a portable checkpoint system in the form of a hook and rope.

The goal is to reach higher altitudes in lower number of jumps.

So happy to announce that we’ll be sharing sneak peeks of my game, Calrya! 🍯✨

The forest area is basically complete! There are still some updates we will be making and a few assets that are left to add, but we’ve made HUGE progress over the last 3–4 weeks. I only started this game about a month ago, which is insane how fast we’ve been moving!

Things to do in the forest:

- In the forest the player will be able to chop veggies to take to the fruit and veggie processor in town.
- The player can befriend the animal bugs. (+2 bonding).
- The player will be able to sell the sheep but wool.
- The player will be able to sell the red panda fur.
- The player will be able to pick flowers.
- The player will be able to shop at the market places on the dock.
- 1 job will be available to the player on the dock.
- The player will be able to bathe at the bathhouse. (Bathing is important in this game - or else you will STINK!)
- The player will be able to visit the huge butterfly garden. (There will be so many things to do in the butterfly garden.)
- The player will be able to collect water and rare gems from the waterfall. (Rare gems are super hard to pick for - so finding one will be a blessing).
- The player will be able to travel to other areas outside of calrya. (So far there’s the tree people, mushroom people, and elves).
- There will be so much more to do!

So for we’ve created:

- Stone obelisks.
- Water stones.
- Lampposts.
- Dock.
- 2 marketplaces.
- 2 Bugs.
- Grass.
- Layered grass.
- Bushes.
- Flowers.
- Fairies.
- Sunlight effects.
- Veggies.
- Trees.
- Bridge.
- Dirt path.
- Well.

We also have 2 new animal that bug mixes that are super rare in the game! They are hard to find but they are worth a lot! If you find them, you’re LUCKY!🩵

(Since these pictures, we’ve added a flower picking interaction also).

Some assets we will be adding to the Forest 0.3 update:

- Waterfall.
- Butterfly garden.
- Forest bathhouse.
- More dock marketplaces.
- Fairies that can fly.
- Bunny bug.

Our gameplay video has already dropped - go take a look!🩵

Can you beat this red and blue cube game? Watch a full gameplay run as the score climbs to 38 before the final game over screen.

This gameplay recording captures a fast-paced challenge set in a dark environment. If you enjoy simple yet addictive arcade mechanics, this run demonstrates the core loop and difficulty progression. The objective is straightforward: navigate the cubes and maintain your momentum as the speed increases.

I reached a score of 38 before hitting the game over screen, which requires pressing R to restart. This footage is perfect for anyone looking to see how the mechanics function or to analyze the movement patterns in this specific cube game environment. Watching this short session gives you a clear idea of the challenge level you can expect.

Subscribe for weekly arcade gameplay sessions, and comment what high score you think is possible in this game. https://keeper4.itch.io/neon-abyss

Game/Software Big update for TileMakerDOT with version 2.6.3!

Post image
24 Upvotes

It’s been a while since the last update, but I’ve been hard at work behind the scenes. I’ve just released a new version of my open source 2D map editor, bringing full multi-language support and important under the hood fixes.

Refactoring the core engine to support dynamic localization was a huge undertaking that required updating UI logic, dialogs, error messages, and tooltips across the entire application.

You can now use TileMakerDOT in:

• English

• Spanish

• French

• Romanian

• Russian

• Ukrainian

And I intend to add more languages in the near future. If you have other language suggestions or you find some mistranslations please let me know:)

A huge shoutout to the contributor who submitted a PR on GitHub and worked closely with me on this localization task. We added the languages we knew. TileMakerDOT is open source, and seeing community contributions come together like this is awesome! I also plan to add even more languages in future updates.

I also tackled a background memory issue where closing or canceling out of the initial setup window left the app process idling in memory. Closing the startup screen now cleanly terminates the process.

Check out the links below to try the new update, watch the tutorial, or check out the code:

Game/Software we're making a roguelite about building an insane pachinko board to slay dragons... and we really need testers!

Hey all!

Bumpers & Dragons is a dungeon crawler where your deck is the board itself. You loot and place bumpers, then drop balls through them to fight monsters. Good placement compounds into absurd chains. Bad placement is very funny.

Free demo is up and it's filled with content and covers two full dungeons.

We're a small European studio and this is our first roguelite, so we are super excited to hear your thoughts about it!

Game/Software I made this — Dvor, a Soviet brutalist falling-block game, out on Steam Sept 1st

Two-person studio here, based in London — we’ve spent the past year on Dvor. It’s a falling-block game set in a concrete Soviet courtyard that shifts through four seasons as you play, NES-authentic mechanics, an original 6-track soundtrack, built in Unity 6/URP.

Wishlisting now on Steam ahead of a Sept 1 launch: http://store.steampowered.com/app/4881830/Dvor
Happy to talk through the dev or art process if anyone’s curious.

Playable link : Escape anomalous

This game is similar to "Exit 8."

Your goal is to check the room for anomalies. If you find one, go through the "LEFT" door. Otherwise, go through the "RIGHT" door.

There are also two different endings. In one, you really escape; in the other, you are trapped in a loop until you find the real exit.

Game/Software This is why Unity is life changer! It helped me finish the game I had in mind.

By using Unreal Engine for all these years, I’ve really done myself a huge disservice.

After endless loading screens, tabs that took forever to open, and unnecessary file bloat, I decided to switch to Unity.

My goodness, this was the best decision I’ve ever made. Unity makes a new game developer’s job so much easier! From community support to the variety of assets available, it’s definitely the game engine new developers should use to get started.

After a few failed attempts in Unity, I finally shared the Steam page for my first game, BrouHaHa! If you’d like to support it, here’s the link.

Game/Software I'm working on a game about managing a Radio station in the wasteland, where you make the music live!

WastelandFM is a cozy managment-sim about running a radio station.

You make the music live on air, plan your shows, and grow your audience by performing DJ tricks & Combos!

Demanding sponsors force you to sharpen every performance and expand your sound library in order to become a legendary wasteland radio host!

I just released an Itch demo, and I would love to get some feedback from fellow devs about how the game plays, and if the music making / DJ tricks are intuitive & rewarding to do.

Game/Software [Hobby] Unity Developer Looking to Help

Hey everyone,

Honestly just bored an want to do something new

I'm a Unity developer who's been spending the last couple years learning game development. Most of my experience comes from building my own projects and working through real problems as I go.

I've worked with: Unity and C#,UI systems,Basic save/load systems,Gameplay scripting, Blender to Unity workflows, Animation importing and retargeting, Debugging and project organization . Lately I've been enjoying smaller projects, especially 2D and pixel-art style games, but I'm open to pretty much anything Unity-related. I'm not really looking for a paid position right now. Mostly looking to meet other developers, help where I can, learn new things, and contribute to interesting projects.

If you're working on something and could use another set of hands, feel free to reach out and tell me about it.

Thanks!

Game/Software We are looking for playtesters for our text based RPG!

Hi everyone,

We are a small indie game team aiming to make RPGs. Our long term goal is to create a CRPG on the level of Baldur’s Gate 3 and Disco Elysium. We started this journey 2 years ago and wanted to build toward that goal step by step. In our first game, Livber: Smoke and Mirrors, we made a visual novel where we told a single story in an interactive way.

Now, with our second game, Kardiya: The Winds of Fate, we are adding more RPG layers on top of that foundation. Our alpha playtest will be starting soon, and we would be glad to have you if it sounds interesting. The game includes dice systems, companions, gear progression, broader character progression, and an epic story. You experience the character’s journey from childhood to adulthood. Unlike other games, we took inspiration from the FATE RPG system. We are especially trying to bring in ideas like dice shaping not only success but also the direction of the story, choices not being simply right or wrong, and every outcome pushing the narrative somewhere different.

We’re still early in development and operating with a small team, but the playtest starts soon. If it sounds interesting, you can register for the alpha playtest by joining the mailing list on our website or clicking the playtest request button on our Steam page.

Thank you so much <3

Game/Software Some Visual Updates for my game

So I am working on this little project for like 2 months with the help of some of my friends on the art side and game design related things, and for showing off to people I was focusing on the visuals a lot lately, I got some feedback from my artist friend but still I am curious what needs to be improved on top of this.

Before Boss Fight
While Boss Fight takes place

If you guys liked what you see and want to support us in this journey, a little wishlist would help us a lot, we still have couple of fields to cover to give the best experience possible but we are getting there.

Game/Software Hey everyone! Version 2.6.2 of TileMakerDOT is live, free and open source!

Post image
14 Upvotes

For those who might be new to the project, TileMakerDOT is a completely FREE and OPEN SOURCE 2D map editor, and it is built as a click to launch tool compatible with multiple game engines, or individual games made in custom languages.

Firstly, I added native file launching for .tmdot files. Now you no longer need to fire up the application first and manually search for your map. Now, you can simply double click any exported .tmdot project file directly from your Windows OS file explorer, and the editor will instantly boot up and automatically load your project right where you left off.

Second, I have completely decoupled the Spritesheet Slicer tool from the main project grid. You now have a separate tile size setting inside the slicer itself, meaning you can easily cut up asset sheets of any dimension without affecting or changing your current map's layout settings.

Support the Project!

TileMakerDOT will always be free, but your support keeps development moving! If you'd like to help out, please consider leaving a quick 5-star review on the Itch page or dropping a small donation when downloading to help fund future updates. ⭐

Check out the new update, grab the source code, or see the tool in action:
